Brrrr, in the upper 20f's outside.  Indoors it's morning thunder tea and miso soup, yum.  Yukon gold taters roasting in a light coat of olive oil and baby carrot and green bean salad with balsamic vinegarette sitting overnight in the fridge.  Later, a bbq sausage sandwich.  Life could be worse!

Yukon Gold potatoes are especially good in soups and stews.  They don't break down into mush like other potatoes do.

So far they've made great whole roasted taters, roast tater weges and tater salad.  A very versatile spud indeed!

I don't think I have the flu, just a plain old cold.  It's going through all my typical phases of cold infection.  I'm at the stuffy head, fever, greenish phlegm in throat & nose stage now.  Having been through the drippy nose, aches, pains & blahs stage during the last two days.  And my back problems were just old age and are pretty much gone now.  Depleting my stock of chicken noodle soup.

Complaint:  Crap! frown  Now I've got a cough and sore throat and all over blahs, on top of lower back problems.  Or perhaps it's all symptoms of the same thing?  Funny, I don't feel fluish and I did have my flu shot.  Maybe it's 'cause I got caught out in the cold rain a few days ago?  Or perhaps it's just because I went out a few days ago and touched something with some careless person's germs on it?  I try to remember to wear gloves or use my shirt cuff when opening a pull door, but it isn't always possible.  People should be more careful where they leave the germs laying about.

The doc at the emergency room told me the vaccine was only 30% effective this year.  The hospital was packed with flu sufferers, it was bad.  Those shots are not a promise of immunity, it seems.

They never were.  They're just another way for the industry to make more money.

I had the swine flu jab back when it was a panic, no one else did. Others got (undramatically) ill with the right symptoms, I (most unusually) didn't. But I've rarely had flu anyway - once, that I'm fairly sure of - even though I get every cold that passes within hailing distance.

    wahhh winX home edition.

it wont let me delete automatic updates from task scheduler.
wont let stop task scheduler from running.

dont see how to make it show start menu as a list, it looks like xbox, all kinds of crap on it

On mine it's a menu, ordered alphabetically...with some of those "tiles" on the right side.  The tiles aren't required for your attention, though.  I just ignore them and scroll down the menu list.   You could always look into Start MenuX.

    Dana

i really want that automatic update off befor i let this thing on the internet.  what an awful experience so far.  return win 95!  lol

...you can still get OEMs of Win 7 and 8.1.

    Where?

Problems at home.  Apparently I am not allowed to keep water in my room other than my aquarium.  Drinking water is a big no no, but fish water is fine. I do not understand.  Guess they want me dehydrated as they make is unbearable to sit in the kitchen.  Bullies, bullies, bullies.

    NewEgg.com  https://www.newegg.com/Operating-Systems/SubCategory/ID-368

      or Amazon.com https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dsoftware&field-keywords=windows+7

But they are getting rare so the price is going up. and most of them still available are Win7-Pro versions

Any advertisements for them that are significantly under $100 are probably not legal (or safe).

Complaint: Snow totals that were expected to be less than an inch have suddenly increased to 2 to 4 inches. Nobody here is really prepard to handle this amount. Two weeks ago when we got that much we were "snowed in" for almost 5 days

Diane went to work, out of state, this morning...even though we're expecting 2 to 4 inches, and it started around 4:30 am, as far as I know.

Hot here. Hot hot hot. Will be hotter later on as well.

  • I am an absolute idiot. I just bought a texture set for something I don't actually own. I looked at the product page three times and still missed the required product info. Maybe I need new glasses.

Well, you obviously liked the look - maybe you just need to buy the required item? (/me buffs horns)

Non-complaint:  OMG!  I had a visitor today.surprise  I actually was able to give away one of those nice chocolates I keep in a bowl for just such occasions. yes Now I can eat the rest of them without feeling guilty. devil

"'Nother Non-complaint:  Unrelenting cold for over a week.  (0F to 25F). frown Thick heavy frozen snow on my car.   Don't want to spend an hour chipping it off.  Weather forecast says it's going to be warm all weekend and rainy on Monday so with luck Mother Nature will dispose of the snow for me just in time for my Tuesday trip uptown (that I postponed this week). yes

  • We were kinda lucky that most of the icy stuff missed Corpus, so while it was 28 degrees this morning, the roads were nice and clear.  But man, oh man, was it cold at work.  Building was 55 degrees when we got it.  Barely got over 63 before we left for the day.
