Yes, I understand that there has to be a difference of lighning, but I don't find what it is... Is it possible that a new light would have been created by mistake and would not appear in the scene pane?
I don't see anything strange in the environnement too. Could a light come from somewhere else?

    Thank you in advance!

Is there anyway to match skin tones with this? This is a skin texture map for a character from a video game and I'm trying to recreate them in daz. Need to do the skin first and I'm wondering if doing that is possible with SB8

Please don't post texture maps from anything, unless permission has been given by the owners (or they are open source).

Photoshop, and I imagine other editors though it isn't soemthing I have investigated, does have tools for tone-matching. I don't think the features are really available in DS to do it there (it is possible to get the colour values, as I recall, but any processing to match colours would then have to be done in the tool which could be pretty demanding).

Zev0, I am disappointented to read some of the comments here. I have purchased many of your products and will continue to purchase products I think will be useful to me. Some products I have purchased from other vendors have NO user manuals, no read me files, nothing to assist with how to use the products.

I do have questions about Skin Builder 8. I see is yuyu.atem posted an image with no eye browes, how is this done? Skin Builder 8 requires a figure in the scene. Does Skin Builder add to this texture, or does it use the textures supplied with the product? Is there an option for no eye browes? There are so many fibre mesh eye browes now, I woud prefer to use them.

I bought this several years ago, when I was only able to render in 3DL. Now, about 2 years ago, I upgraded my PC and can now render in Iray, so I am re-visiting stuff I haven't used in a while.

As an aside, there is a product being sold on daz3d.com that will add UVs for G8F and G8M to their oposites, so G8M can use G8F textures for example. Create your G8F texture, then apply to G8M. Works well for me, with both G8 and G8.1

Hi. In the product you will see all the base textures provided with the product do not have eyebrows and there is a separate tab to add some in. If you want to remove them on a skin not provided from the product there is a seperate product called Brow Remover.

Manuals......People have very specific questions that a manual can never address regarding this product. This is why there is a support thread like this instead. The product also comes with a user guide that covers the basics.

Seems to be an incompatibility with skin textures from "Addy" models, leaves a seam around the shoulder, neck and armpit. Applying full tanline to generic Gen 8 had no problems. Other figures such as SASE, no problems. Only seems to be Addy which are 2 of my characters crying

Hello ! I know this post is quit old now but, facing the same problem myself recently, I managed to find why it is happening with the Addy brand characters, (and maybe other brands as well if they create their skin in the same way as "Addy").

The cause is very simple... The standarized resolution of textures/images created in the whole 3D industry, (and beyond), work conventionaly with a multiple of "2" and starting from "2". It mean :

    2x1=2, 2x2=4, 2x4=8, 16, 32,......, 1024, 2048, 4096, etc...

Of course, this is how it work with Genesis 8 character textures created by most of the Daz merchants. (Mostly 4096x4096p size, like all the textures used in Skin Builder 8, by the way).

The problem with Addy brand character is that all their textures are 4000x4000p.

So, we have two options to fix this :

    1. Upsizing ourselves all the Addy textures from 4000x4000 to 4096x4096. (Smart option).

    2. Using the "Layered Image Editor", adding "color layer", adding "image mask" to the "color layer", choosing the mask we need from the "SkinBuilderG8MR" folder, then select the "mask layer" and downsize from "x Scale 100%" to "x Scale 97.66%" and doing the same for "Y Scale". Doing it for all Base color, Transluency color, SSS, Bump, Normal map etc...and doint it for all the body parts. (Most tedious option...I don't ever know why I'm proposing it ! frown But it is how I managed to find that it was because of the 4000x4000p resolution of all the "Addy" base textures skin).

I hope this information will help any futur person.

    Bye bye :)

Hi, I've been happily using Skin Builder 8 for a few days, though I bought it ages ago — yeah tell me about it — but one thing I cannot see mentioned in the manual at all is how to load in existing skins for modification in the program.  The product page says this can be done but nowhere in the documentation nor in the scripts prompts can I see any mention of how to do it.  Can someone help me work out how to do this please?

Hi there, I am wondering whether it is possible to start on an existing texture set and modify that using Skin Builder 8?

    Thanks!

Does the skin builder cover the whole body face as well.  Seems like the skin in is only changing the back of the head, chest to hip area. The arms, legs and face are not being changed. I am not seeing any wat to get those areas to change from default skin tone. Did I miss something or does this product not change the skin for the entire area.

  • I installed DAZ3D Version 4.23 on a new computer. Unfortunately, now I get the error message: "Could not find:...Torso_1002.jpg" When skipping the message, I get the message keeps popping up with all body parts (face, arms, legs, ...) again and again. I uninstalled SB8 and redownloaded and installed it again, but no success. Any idea how to fix? Thank you!

if you use skinbuilder to overlay stretch marks onto an existing skin, is there anyway to remove it after you have applied it and left the script? I can't find anyway to remove it. Just thought I would ask in case there is an easy way to revert the skin before I start from scratch again.

Im having a problem with generating skin.
every time I try to generate a skin, it will remove immidiatelly files from temp folder and say:
Could not find file: ..... Torso_1002.jpg and all of the others
at the end of the list of errors that it opens, all files will no longer be located inside the temp folder.

I've owned Skin Builder 8 for some time, and today I finally got round to actually using it for the first time, only to find that... it's not working. My problem is the same as that mentioned by @dawn.hunter above: When I click "Build Skin" (without making any changes to the default settings, as I just wanted to go through the vanilla process) I immediately get a series of "Missing File" messages. The first is below, and it repeats the message for each skin map:

    Could not find file: D:/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/Runtime/Textures/SkinbuilderG8FMR/CreatedMatFiles/91419&&_Torso_1002.jpg

I thought maybe it was because I was running the Daz BETA build, but I repeated the process using the latest Daz Studio 4.23 public build and it resulted in exactly the same behaviour.

I use SB8 on and off depening on requirements. The last build was several days ago. I have never had a problem.

    Was it installed using DIM?

Do you have G8F only in the scene (g8.1F doesn't work) but the end results work fine on 8.1

Have you got the correct output folders set up?

Have you made sure your creating Iray textures and select Iray or 3DL and selct 3DL

The user manual is here ....\People\Genesis 8 Female\Materials\Skin Builder 8\Resources and I can't see it within Studio, so use you file browser to find it. It has information on were files need to be in the modifying and adding to the script section It also has a section on the correct set up prior to first use.

I'm also having this problem. It seems to be broken in DS 4.23. It was working fine for me in 4.16 but no longer works in DS 4.23 General release. My similar error message is attached. I was simply trying to add eyebrows to an existing skin. I get errors for anything I try now. This is horrible, I use Skin Builder for all my characters previously and now it is unuseable.

I reinstalled Daz Studio 4.16. and Skin Builder works again. But this is not a real solution because the file will be missing files again if you try to open it in 4.23 or later. I think I know what the problem is, if the PA would fix this it should be very easy. I think it is due to how scripts are handled in DS 4.20 and later. I had a similar problem with an item from another store, where the PA accidentally had some extra forward slashes in the code ("//" instead of "/" in many places). And basically from what I remember per Richard Haseltine, Daz Studio prior to 4.20 would ignore those extra forward slashes, but now it no longer ignores them, and so that will screw up scripts and files that include the extra forward slashes.

I opened a ticket since the PA is ignoring this thread for 5 months now, and the helpdesk is of no help either.  There are 5 people in this thread above me also mentioning the same problem. I will never buy from this PA again.

That affects paths in material presets rather than scripts - as far as I know their internal handling of paths is handled by the cript engine itself, not the same code as  the .duf handler.

Would add that I'm having the same issue with the "Torso_1002.jpg" missing error message [among other body parts]. The really odd part is that I'm having difficulty getting changes to the base skin texture to display on the ears and mouth of characters as well - choosing to ignore the errors and the skin texture applies to the rest of the body, but not the ears, or mouth. All that seems to apply is the skin base colour tint. I'm aware that there are separate settings for the lips, but even with them applied, the base area of the mouth [a little extended beyond the "rim" overlay is the same as the ears and only has the base colour tint applied to it. I've included a preview of how it looks with the lip centre and rim applied.

When applying eyebrows as well the program seems to be caught stuck trying to do something, or thinks it's doing something with a busy cursor displaying - even though other program functions can be used including rendering the scene.

This is on Daz Studio 4.24.0.3 with SB8 downloaded and installed through the DAZ Install Manager.

    Thank you in advance.

After further investigation into what was going on with my failure to get any successful results from Skin Builder 8, I finally managed to overcome my issues. They seem to have been caused by a combination of user error and slightly less-than helpful UI design and user manual info. I re-read the manual (plus comments in this thread), discovered I'd forgotten to go to the end tab of the UI ("Utilities") and then the "Save Skin and Material Presets" tab (which is buried beside the selected-by-default "Camera" tab), and set up paths for the final files and Material Presets. Once these were set up, I stopped getting the missing files messages.

It would have been more intuitive to use the utility if all the path setup requirements were a) located in a common tab in the UI - preferrably so they're the first thing the user sees (rather than there being one temp path to be set up in plain sight in the first tab, then a series of others to be set up in a hidden location in the Utilities tab), and/or b) these paths were filled with default paths from the outset, rather than the utility just falling over if they're not set by the user.

The only outstanding minor issue I had was that during the process the view render changed from Filament to Texture Shaded when I used Skin Builder's auto-generated camera to preview the figure.

But I am relieved that I got it all working in the end, and I can see how useful this will be to me as I continue to expand my own original character library, so a long-overdue thank you to the authors!

This just gets more odd. I had directories present for each of the functions you describe, but they were the default program assigned ones. When I created separate folders on a different drive, I was able to get the utility to generate skin with lips and ears correctly for the first [and only] time. Now, if I try to generate a different skin, it pops up the same errors as before. Looking in the log file - it works, until it doesn't:

I wondered if changing the save directories might solve the issue, no luck. This is just weird... I know the utility can work now as it's done it once. I don't know why it is back to not working again.
