Here's my complaint. Yesterday was total garbage. Felt like crap for most of the day, worried about a friend who lives in the zones being stricken by severe flooding here in the States, and even trying to relax by playing games wasn't working since everything decided to just go wrong.  Aaaaaaah the only good thing that came out of yesterday was I got an actual good night's sleep, which I haven't had in several months.

Yes that's an astounding amount of rain, hope everyone is OK :)

...well in spite of still having things at the old house to move, took what I could on my own and stayed at the new place last night. Remembered I had the flat bedsheet a couple blankets and pullows already there. Took a few personal necessities the two notebook computers and a couple changes of clothing. Slept incredibly well and woke up ready to go. So nice to not have to stunble down a steep flight of stairs to get to the loo in the middle of the night. Nice and quiet too no "hip hop Hondas" cruising by with their megawatt sub woofers and fart can mufflers late at night. Still need to get the rest of my kitchen gear so brekkie at a local coffee shop (though 3$ less than the one I had been going to). Will ask people at my game session tonight if I can get help moving the rest of my things.

I survived Harvey.  I live in Corpus, which had some wind damage but didn't get the brunt of the eyewall winds, (thank you God).  At my house, we had power until 1am and got it back the same day at 7:30 pm.  My Father got his power back sometime Sunday and my sister got hers on Monday afternoon.  Things in Corpus are still crazy, we still have traffic lights blinking, off or blown off the pole still.  There are a ton of fences blown over, and power poles still bent or leaning dangerously as of yesterday.  I have friends who live on the other side of the bay in Portland who, thankfully, still have their houses too.  What we're most worried about now is my Husband's sister, who lives in the suburbs of Houston.  They sent us picks of the road leading up to their place flooding but their street was dry at the time.

It will be years for the recovery in Houston.  This one is bad.  I hope your family will be OK.

...the rains are unprecidented, in some places over 50 inches of rain has fallen since the storm made landfall.

Based on the average snow-water desnity rate (15%) that would be equivalent to 335" of snow  (28') in the same amount of time

...our big concern here is yet another heatwave and dry conditions this weekend. Forecast highs include 3 days of 100 or higher temps (and that is at the airport) not in the city where all the concrete ant tall buildings as well as mpst of the people are). This is September when things should be cooling down. This is supposed to be cool rainy Portland OR, not Las Vegas NV.

  • I'm praying this weekend is calm and easy but there's a growing chance that I'll have to work overtime on Saturday to continue filling out FEMA paperwork for the city department I work for.  I'm so tired, mentally and physically.  The title of this thread is quite approriate right now.

I cannot stand another summer but ready for fall soon.  Unless I am going to choke on my words and it gets too cold.

why are they tearing down the house next to me at seven in the morning?  They are very loud.

Good to hear from you, Fyredrygyn.  I worried about you.  Glad things are not worse.  I got about 1 foot of rain at my house in Austin, but no flooding on my property.  WoolyLoach and I are dry.  I went through my1st hurricane in Aransas Pass in 1942.

...Annie, good to hear from you and that all is well there. Finally in my new pla e and getting settled in. Instead of torrential rains (or any rain for that matter which is odd as this is the Pacific Northwet) we are looking at more triple digit temps and bone dry conditions for the weekend into mid week that have kept us under a red flag fire status most of the summer. Say hi to Wooly for me.

Got a new keyboard as my old one was acting up. The old keyboard would open new tabs randomly as I use the keyboard.  It requires two AA batteries but I tried the batteries from my remote and they did not help the old keyboard.

I choose the new keyboard as it goes with my new mouse.  The mouse and keyboard are based on HP Link 5 technology.    My computer only has three USB ports and just using one USB port for two really does helps a lot.   Also the new keyboard is a full keyboard with a num pad and some buttons I do not know what they do.
