I keep hearing that you can transfer G3 morphs to G8. Can anyone direct me to that tutorial? Thanks, I'm so glad they brought back power power and hope they expand to past figures.

Here is the thread they discuss it in. There are a couple of tutorials in the thread.

Is anyone else having slow G8 render times?  The attached render took nearly 20 min with only IG's Photo Studio Point And Shoot Lights, V8, Icie Hair and OOT's Button Up 2 outfit.

The only way to tell if it's G8 slowing it down is to render the same items with a dif figure like G3, then compare the render times between the two. Or just render G3 by herself then render G8 by herself and see if G8 increased the render time. I've done render tests and, personally, I've found that G3F takes longer to render than G8F. Using same lighting, same mats, same resolution, I've found that G3F renders longer for me than G8F does.

    I recommend this tutorial: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/2532336/#Comment_2532336

I've found it to be really easy to follow and once you get the steps down it goes really quick. :)

This is such a minor update to G3, its more like G3.25.

Neither (comercial) morphs from G3 will work, nor poses, let alone aminations. No way I'm buying this again.

Protip to content creators: Continue to support G3 with your G8 products.

    BUT IT HAS EYELASHES!

+1 someone finally hit on it. A few free clones for clothing fit, a set of eyelashes and a few extra facial bones/morphs ... What is really new and groundbreaking about her?

Thanks again to Redz for the G3F morphs to G8F process - here is a render using G8F with the DT-Eve character (originally for G3F) morph, V8 textures, postworked for levels. Clothes and hair from G3F sources too.

3 days after launch and FINALLY I get an orange banner?!! After I already purchased the pro bundle? Guess I'll be having a chat with customer support... sad

Is that the one that requires you to completely rebuild the rigging from an OBJ or is there an easier one?  (I found the link to Redz tutorial on pg 13, but DropBox says the file isn't there anymore. Did it get moved?)

This one knows she's not one of The Beautiful Young Things and is too busy to care. After dropping the kids off at school, she's back home to take something out of the freezer for supper, put a load of laundry on, clean up around the house and then check to see if there are any bids on her eBay listing (she'll be glad to see the back of that old exercise bike). Then it's off out for the lunchtime shift and her part-time job as a barmaid, where she knows what all the regulars drink and what time to expect a delivery from the brewery. She never gets a minute to herself and has been trying to find time to postwork her own hair since her eldest was a baby, but she's happy with her life.

I'm pretty happy with her too. She falls a long way short of photorealism, but I've seen worse in the store (and bought it, too). It's not that long ago that I'd never have believed that I could have made her, and I'm very grateful for the tools and products that have become available in recent times to allow those of us who want something other than 'supermodel' to create it ourselves - practice may eventually make perfect! I'm especially pleased with G8 and just how much can be done with her in conjunction with existing assets without spending much cash on her at all. Not to worry though, Daz. Time is money, and all this versatility and ease of use can only free up more hours for shopping. *Sigh... :)

In this sort of situation, if you're browsing the chatter here in the forums and you think an offer applies to you, it's worth trying an experimental cartful or checking your messages, just in case — it's not uncommon to have an offer or the matching message activate, but the orange banner turns up late (or, in extreme cases, not at all).

  • AlmightyQUESTAlmightyQUEST Posts: 2,006

Not sure how common this is, but I had at least one time recently where I didn't have a banner showing (had been tipped off to the sale by the vendor in their product thread), but when I went to my messages on the site and went to exclusive offers, the offer was there. Not sure if all orange banners also show up in your exclusive offers, or if some people got a delay on getting the offer itself (not just the banner), but worth checking when you hear about an offer you think you should get but don't see the banner.

I got it now :) I needed the update cos before I was clicking n the head shape and not getting anything.

How did you get it??? I open the tab called powerpose......and just get the full body figure. Is there something I'm missing?

    AllenArt said:

I have that and don't have V8, just the G8 base.

I'm rendering now so can't confirm, but there should be a small face shape just above that full body shape, to the left of it. Click on the face shape to get to the screen with the face control points.

Yay! I hope Diva finds it too - it's a lot of fun (if you can live with the guilt of not getting any actual work done :) )

Yes thank you - I updated and found it. I love it!

Sadly though, the update seams to have broken something. Now none of the G8F content is showing up under "Smart Content".

Re-import metadata for the G8F Starter Essentials -- the wrong file was originally linked for the Powerpose templates, so updating that removed the G8F metadata.

She may not be totally photorealisic, as you mentioned,  but certainly a very natural and believable character. Love your description of her and the render.

What's actually the point in creating a new character based on e.g. V8 rather than creating the same character directly from G8 so you don't need an intermediate figure? Technically I don't see anything that prevents you from doing that.

Same reason you migh use any of the head and body morphs instead of creating everything from scratch: it gives you a starting point closer to what you want to achieve than the base figure.

Moreover if you use "official" morphs as part of your character then clothes supporting those morphs will probably fit them better since they'll only have to autofollow the "delta" and not the whole custom morph.

I almost caved and bought V8, but the Pro bundle has shot up in price in my cart from $51-and-something to $107 and is showing in my wishlist at full price, without even as much as the usual introductory discount. According to my calculations, it's still a few hours yet before the offer on my orange banner expires. Bye, bye V8, we were never meant to be. I shall be cheering myself up with some retail therapy - over at Rendo :)

Such a pessimist! wink I'm sure V8 will stroll back into your life at some point in the next two years or so. And when she does, you—and your wallet—will be ready to add her to your runtime.

Y is Victoria 8 so Ugly... I did not want to get this one for the fact I dont want to work on somthing that I am not attractive to... I payed to have her anyways, but I will not do anything with her untill a Victoria 8 model comes out that meets my needs. I will say this is the worst face Ive seen so far out of the 4yrs I have been doing this..

Of course, but if you don't like V8 or whatever the required character is that's sort of moot. I don't really like V8 myself so I haven't bought her, but I bought a character that requires V8 for the texture. I do like the V8 version of that character but won't pay $20+ extra just to get that option. I got the G8 morph packages for less than that, with these I can create 100s of different characters myself.

thanks Llnara this was also a sort of test too to see if could do this maybe forever if at all we get mermaid tails for g8 oh and got movement options working on all parts. A friend of mine is releasing soon a new G8 character that is well different and as soon as I saw her knew she would be perfect for a different type of mermaid as well as some other characters/hybrids. Tried centaur version in different combinations not working like mermaid she connects well in most versions but lose ability to pose horse part at all or her and one got weird distortion one version allowed the use of the actual centaur poses on her but horse part no
