I messed up this morning on my V8 purchase and neglected to add V5 and V6 pro to my cart before hitting checkout - got confused and thought I had them already - only have V7 Pro - I really shouldn't shop until after my morning two cups of coffee... Meh, I already have most of both bundles that I really wanted - but still annoyed at myself...

I did not add v5 and v6 pro bundle for same reason. thought i bought them already ????

they were manually added to my library by Daz without my asking this morning.  Thank you Daz.

and i did get a bonus 10% on everything for buying a previous Victoria pro bundle.

    so check your product library.

Tht happend to me as well. However, even though the page for the bundle is there, there are no download links for anything but what I had purchased individually already.

So, from where I'm standing it was just a tease.

Jazzy Bear, when I get weirdness like that, I zero the pose and "adjust rigging to shape," that always fixes it. No idea if it'll work with V8, but my guess is it will.

EWWW  Yuck, can this be fixed?

It isn't broken - it's a clone shape for cloths conversion, not a moprh shape for use in renders. The two kinds of thing have different requirements, which is why the clones are set to hidden.

It's not just an A pose, the legs are spread apart too. What a nightmare that's gonna be for creating shoes. Is there a pose available where her feet are flat on the ground? (For the base figure)

I can understand how having an A-pose for the upper body might be an improvement for fitting clothes, but why do it for the legs?    I mean, come on, the feet for Genesis 8 aren't even flat on the floor.  IMHO, shoes should be fitted flat, not at an angle.  Why not have both, A-pose legs and flat feet?

It probably has something to do with maintaining straight lines, from the hip to the foot, so having both might be an unnecessary complication for fitting footwear like long boots.

The legs should make trousers easier, however.

For those who own Genesis 3 females made by Cynder Blue she just announced a free G8 morph for all her Genesis 3 females  for free! Now that is classy! Also really helps those who own G3 versions of her characters I love the idea.

Loving her....and of course, she is squirrel approved.  :)

That is the best render I've seen of her and if I had the money, could have made me change my mind about her.. Although I own almost everything in the previous Victoria bundles, I bought them separately, so I don't get any discounts...

Due to the release of G8 and after reading comments from customers I would like to let you know that I will be adding a separate G8 morph file to ALL my G3F back catalogue for FREE download update. So if you are an existing customer of mine look out for an update notice from your vendor to re-download your model, for new customers the free G8 morph will be included as soon as possible and Promo's and product info will be updated to reflect the changes. All my G8 morphs are designed to work with your new free G8 figure and will not require ANY additional products to work. I hope this brings a little sunshine to the rain of the past few days for those who have been vocalising there concerns on content, cost and supply. I will as stated earlier, continue to keep G3F content as my main focus until you the customers decide you are ready for the change over and include version morphs until that time you may see the odd G8 thing here and there for those of you that have taken the leap already. As there are quite a few models this will be done over the next few weeks so watch this space for updates and notices on launches. Happy Rendering ppl. Have a great weekend. CBx

Now that's incredible customer service! I have some of her characters already plus more on my wishlist. Will definitely be shopping in her store more often. Would love to see other PAs do this if they are able. It makes the existing characters doubly useful and marketable.

Two of the G8F's I posted a couple days ago on my Art Studio thread- Honey and Raine. I really haven't even messed with the base figure or V8, I wanted to see how characters with unique skin looked. Not sure how the "new" Iray improvements work, or what they are, as I got similar results with the last version.

In one of my books I have a character that's mentally unstable. She's a person who is trapped in afterlife, seeing a shrink she can get acclimated to being a ghost. V8 might be perfect for this because she looks abnormal. Maybe I could use her in a low res trailer for the book but I wouldn't use her for anything else. I doubt I could use her for a poster giveaway or a book high res cover so I am still sitting on the fence, but I love Raw Art and Honey is almost sucking me in.

After testing Victoria 8 for a day, I have to conclude that there really isn't enough difference between her and Victoria 7 for V8 to be called V8. More like V7.3.

We gain HD expressions. Way cool. We gain geografted eyelashes. Okay. Why? We gain a base figure who is three inches taller than V6 and V7. Isn't 5'11" tall enough? We gain a figure with a masculine face and one hell of an ugly mouth. Well, I fought V7's ugly mouth, but I don't want to do it again. We gain a more primitive mesh that is even further removed from natural human topology than V7.

    And I can't convert my custom V7 characters to V8 without major effort. A 22 year old V7 looks 40 in V8.

So, I dropped $40 on an experiment. It was money well spent, really. It told me to wait for Victoria 9. Hey, I bought a Hyundai in 1986! I'm 6'4". You do the math on that. I've spent more on less.

I haven't been successful at applying Victoria 7's clothing to Victoria 8. I'm getting a ton of crashing.

Where to start with untangling this. Oy! First, V8 is a definite step forward and more than worthy of it's own figure line. The bends are much better, muscles follow the pose shape better, skin texture improvement, anatomy improvment, the skin actually moves with the expressions, improved eyes, nails, and feet, etc.

Second, converting characters from V7 to V8 is suprisingly easy. Redz has a tutorial on how to do it and made a post on how to do it here on the forum - and it's pretty fast and painless.

Third, "masculine face and one hell of an ugly mouth" I totally disagree. I think she's quite lovely and a lot more realistic looking than some of the past Victorias which trend to have unnaturally large eyes and faces that are too artificial looking. We still have a ways to go to hit total photo-realism, of course, but V8 is definitely a step forward.

I got one of those too and they told me they put Victoria 5 in my Account History. So far all I got was a link for Vicky 5's Pro Bundle....and that's it. A link. To nothing. And no other products. LOL

I'm not gonna gonna fret over it much ;).

She's not exactly a looker, eh?

Also, can someone explain in simple terms what's the appeal of the new G8/V8 generation? As far as I can tell it's just the same as G3?

  • JamesJABJamesJAB Posts: 1,766

The Genesis 8 Female body shape is very similar to G3F, but there have been alot of upgrades behind the polygons.  Better joint bends, and automatic muscle flexing to name a couple.  I have not bought Victoria 8 and probably will not, I'm waiting for some of the other Generation 8 people to come out like Bethany and Kalea.

Dunno if its mentioned before (or corrected by now), V8 comes with eyebrows prop, but compatibility for the prop is set to be (just) Genesis 3 female. Which is why we dont see it listed in anatomy section of the smart content when we have G8F selected.

So to add G8F compatibility to it go to content library tab, under People - Genesis 8 Female - Anatomy - Victoria 8 Eyebrows and you should see prop there. Click once on the prop to select it. Next click with right mouse button on the content library tab (on the letters "content library) to get a menu and from the menu select Content DB Editor...

When content DB editor windows opens, select (in upper part) "Victoria 8 Eyebrows.duf" and in lower part click on "Compatibility" menu and you will have eyebrows listed there. Click with right mouse button on the Victoria 8 Eyebrows to get a menu and from menu select "Add Compatibilities to Selected File(s)...".

A list window will open and in it scroll down to Genesis 8, click on the little triangle in front of Genesis 8 to expand menu, select Female and click Accept. And again Accept in the DB editor window and now you should see V8 Brows in the anatomy menu in smart content when you have G8F selected

For folks that don't like the look of Victoria 8 a piece of simple advice, don't use her.  I haven't liked the look of any of the Victoria since the Genesis lines started.  The only reason I have bought the Victoria Pro bundles is to get the UVs and the naughty bits as I am both a Cranky Olde Fart and a Dirty Olde Man.

She can look like anything you want. I just brought over 35+ of my favorite morphs from G3F, including Toon Generations, Legacy Shapes for G3F (the main G2Fs) and various characters (Lilith 7, Olympia 7, V7, etc.) I also brought over Xameva's fantasy shapes from Renderosity (the elf and dwarf ones), which look really good. The ears dial in right on those.

Will be posting test renders of things as I can. If someone wants to see what a particular character looks like on G8 or mixed with V8, let me know. If I have it, I'll move it over and render it. You can also use Redz method to move over items you've ported in to G3 from GenX2 or created with FaceGen. I'm not even sure you need any body or head morphs for these, the morphs are ported over via Morph Loader Pro and dialed straight in. (But I have those packs installed, so I can't verify that.)

The posing and facial rigging are huge steps forward in realism. The autofits work pretty decently. Sometimes Studio has to think a bit if you load entire outfits with lots of items. I'd recommend doing those one piece at a time. Being able to use the skins from G3F is a huge advantage. I managed to get a G3M skin on G8 as well, though there are a few seams. Haven't tried tranferring any G3M morphs over yet. Did try the Centaur for kicks and it didn't work, but I didn't expect it to. Might have to make a V8 centaur the way people were making V7 ones before the female centaur came out.

The possibiities with G8 are pretty endless and you don't have to spend much or anything to enjoy the benefits, just a little time and patience.

Yeah, I'm trying to ignore the bigoted comments I've seen on the forums lately about how females over the age of 30 are no longer attractive or desirable. As if the mere act of aging devalues half the population in some people's eyes. I'm 47. I don't have an "expiration date" and I don't think Victoria should either.

True. I don't pay any heed to anyone saying women (or men) over a certain age are not attractive.

Just this morning, I saw a lady that I had a massive crush on many years ago. I couldn't believe that she had not aged a day. This woman is in her 50s! Too bad she's still married!!

I always make my Vickys with a few years on her.
