There are way better tutorials out there for free to learn content management. @Divamakeup gave me better guidance and advice here in the forums on how to use categories with a better scheme than this guy had...

    Dawww shucks heheh :)

I'm glad you found it helpful! laugh

Actually, I found it so much more useful than this $30 tutorial, send me a PM with your email address and I'll kick you down a $5 gift card... which is an absolute bargain for how useful your advice has been to me. :)

That's really sweet of you to offer, but it's ok. :) I'm just glad you found it useful. I've had a lot of people here go out of their way to help me figure things out, so the least I can do is pay it forward and help others out when I can. :)

  • Well, you should really consider making a little tutorial video describing your method of custom organizing content, maybe with a little PDF document, and publish it here for something reasonable, $10-$15...

I guarantee you, you would have the market cornered for useful content management strategy tutorials. Heck, I'd almost like to be part of helping you publish something like that. I think you've got a great method... with a little padding to explain how Smart Content and Poser Files and runtimes work and all that... with other people charging $45 for less useful information - at $15 your method would be a steal! :)

hahah That would be cool, but I don't really have the equiptment or know-how to make a video tutorial :) It would be great to become a PA though - I've subitted my first character to Daz and am waiting to hear back from them. I have another in the works as well. I hope Daz likes and accepts them. :)

Remember that Daz will refund your money for purchases that you are dissatisfied with, as long as you request the refund within 30 days of purchase. There is no need to keep products that you find to be a waste of money.

Normally if I am dissastisfied with content, it has been minor and when the sale price was good enough, I don't bother requesting a refund. For $5 or $10... I took a gamble on Headshop Oneclick, I lost, and I knew I just needed to wait for FaceGen Artist Pro to go on a good enough sale. Eventually I got it, and I never asked for a refudn on Headshop... but it was bad enough I wanted to warn other users not to make the same mistake as I made.

In this case, I did request a refund. The first time ever for that.

IMO it's a bad idea not to return stuff that's of poor quality for then they just think it's good enough and probably continue to produce more of the same quality. It's just a bit more difficult with tutorials because you have to work through them to jugde the quality and, even if the quality is low, probably learn something from them anyway, and so it feels a bit unfair to return them.

As for tutorials in general, I think they often heavily overpriced compared to how much work it takes to produce them (I've made several myself, both video and written formats, so I'm talking from experience). So I usually wait until they're heavily discounted.

I have purchased numerous tutorials since getting into this hobby three years ago, and I'm pretty sure none of them were produced using a script. Except, perhaps, the one on Blender I just purchased, which comes with both videos and PDF.

@ L'Adair Did you get the Blender tut by V3Digitimes? I know that is the one I am seriously thinking of getting and later on the one by Sickleyield.

The V3Digitimes one was an insta-buy for me, and I'm quite happy with it even though I just used the PDF an didn't bother watching the videos.

The author walks you through UV unwrapping in a way that sidesteps some pitfalls, and he gives good advice about using materials. (I say he, but it may be a she--like I said I didn't bother with the videos.) He stepped through the settings for transferring data back and forth between DAZ and Blender, but limits the discussion to OBJ format, because that's what you'll most likely use for creating items and morphs.

Using his instructions, I successfully created my first working morph, and it worked on the first try! I have the Air Outfit for G2M, and I wanted to use that jersey top with different pants, but unfortunately the PA chose to make them load together, and the shirt is bunched up at the midriff to represent being tucked into the shorts. Hide the shorts' polygons, and the shirt looks terrible. So I followed the V3D tutorial on morphing using this project, to make a morph that drops the shirt's hemline and straightens it out so it can be worn with jeans. Everything went smooth as silk.

...ah bugger, was hoping the halfway ketchup sale would have also included PA stores as well, not just the new releases.  Missed out on a couple when I was dealing with RL matters.

Looks like you got your wish, Day 2 includes the featured PA catalogues.

    ...did and didn't.

Been shopping around since I got back home and finished dinner then just a few moments ago all the discounts apparently have disappeard, yet it's still about 2 hrs before the end of the day (Daz Time).  Even the Mega Fastgrab discount is gone. The only fiscounts in either the PA Catalog or Mega Fastgrab sale sections I am seeing are is the standard 30% one on DO's for PC members.

Meh, guess that is that. Think I'll turn in early as I've been having back spasms since late afternoon.

It seems like a lot of the content artists I assume are male turn out to be female. I've just started referring to all PAs as "They" and "Them". Easier that way.

Yes. I decided it was time to learn how to make my own stuff. Or at least, to learn how to morph what I have into what I need. I tinkered with Hexagon for a bit, and thought I was finally getting the hang of it. But now whenever I opened it, about the only thing I can do is rotate the view! I just can't seem to figure out how to do anything in Hex.

I just checked, and the correct discounts are displaying on the "Annual PA Sale Mid Month Catchup New Releases" page. And while I'm not seeing the discounts on the Mega Fast Grab page(s), the discounts are applying in the cart. You've got about an hour and 40 minutes yet. (I think I will go into the other end of the house and watch a movie, that way I won't be tempted to get anything else...!)

Sorry to hear about the back spasms. Those buggers can be miserable.

..the items I had in the cart also reflected the full price which is why I emptied it.

Hexagon has it's good and bad points. I have done a bit in it too. Actually, I like it's shaping tool better than Blender's because i could see what i was doing. I have not worked in either one for a long time too many other things to do on the farm, but eventually here things will slow down and back to the drawing board. :)

wow. what happened to the Mega Fastgrab section? Only 12 items.....and one is actually a free item!

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,924

And no matter what combo I try for the New Debut (the shower,  the patio, the cars) nothing triggers the get one item free for Urban Backstreet. Didn't test the other freebies, I have all of them.  I tried each of the New Debuts (just one in the cart) and even with two New Debuts, the Urban Backstreet stays at 30% off.  Right now I tested with the Beach Bundle and Ultimate Shower and they both went 50%, so that part is working.

  • And today's free item isn't free.

They should catch that today when they open....

I noticed some item I bought a few days ago had lower price on fastgrab sale yesterday, what would have been the right way to get the new prices?

Put in a new order with same items and return the old order? or jut take a screen shoot of the basket showing the new lower prices?

Just so I now what to do next time.

By the way this thread have become my daily addiction.

cos it's a freebie i have no use for and don't want and very poser. LOL.

You must have most of the mega fastgrab already :D Not a great mega fastgrab compared to what we've had every day of the sale so far.

First, it has to be within thirty days, so you're covered there. No, don't rebuy- if it is only fastgrab (the regular one, not the Mega Fastgrab) then just screenshot and send it in. Always give Support the SKU of the product, the price you paid, the new price, do the math and tell them what they need to credit/ refund. You'll have to supply the order number and paypal transaction too, if used.

If it is the Mega Fastgrab, you'd have to show you bought the qualifying  item or items for that day, (and actually give the order number, not "IF I bought this, I'd get this for X amount.") and screenshot that the item is in the Mega Fastgrab.

Aave Nainen's store is one of the MegaFast grab stores that is supposed to have 65% off (or 75% with Debut or Still New release) but is only getting 40% off.

Yep. And getting 58% instead of 75% with a qualifying item.
I really want to get Cool Climate before it disappears from the store!

All day and still not fixed. no  Oh well, I need to save the money anyway.

Yep. Never saw the correct price, now the sale is over. Went from $50+ to over $170. Dumped the cart.
I seem to be dumping the cart a lot lately.
I worked hard for my money. If DAZ wants it, they're going to have to work hard for it, too.
By, for example, beta testing their own sales instead of expecting the customers to do it.

@mats76   Sure, happy to help. LOL, I have experience. I'm pretty eagle-eyed when it comes to spotting cheaper prices. You will also find that by supplying all the information, such as the SKU and price paid / price now and math, you speed up the work for them. I usually get replies within 8 hours, a day at the most.

@crispalomino   Summer Wet Hair only goes to 58% off with qualifying items in the cart (same ones I had before.) (Beach Bundle and Shower)  It should be going to 75% as it's a Mega Fastgrab.

Can confirm. Summer Wet Hair isn't getting the 75%.

  • Dang, that was a miss....My $57 cartload jumped to $243...just missed Daz Midnight.

Anyone know if there is a good way to save a cart, so you can just open it up again when the Catchup Sale happens again?
