Can Facegen be used as a merchant resource?
On the site it does specify that FaceGen Morphs/Textures can be distributed
https://facegen.com/artist_legal.htm
Both morphs & textures always seem to require a lot of work to clean up especially in the eye & mouth areas so I have never used a morph generated by facegen without some extensive work in Blender/Zbrush & Photoshop
Great! Thank you! :)
I just checked out your freebies at ShareCG. Did you know we both did a plus sized G8F character named Carly/Karli? lol And a few weeks later a different Karly character was released at Daz: https://www.daz3d.com/karly-for-genesis-3-female lol I guess great minds think alike.
I just downloaded your girl, I'm looking forward to rendering her! :)
that's what I do too use same texture/s but use different morphs to create lots of different unique characters just like do with any bought skin/texture/character
Curious as to how this program would work with a video game character...
Probably pretty good if the lighting was good & very porrly if the lighting was poor if it was a good quality model. MineCraft styles ain't going to turn out well.
If you can control the lighting and take a pic using say XNA or some other app, you can get good pics for Facegen to use. More realistic game characters like Mass Effect work better, cartoonish characters like Elizabeth Comstock do not translate well. I made Fem Shep and Miranda using both varieties. Fem Shep is based on pics of her face I made in XNA. I did some texture editing to fix flaws, and the eyes are not from Facegen. For Miranda I actually used pics of the actress that Miranda was based on instead of the game models. I did that because I personally do not like Miranda's model in game, though I used different eyes so they were more like the game's. Either way, the rules for Facegen are always the same: the better the pics, the better the Facegen creations.
Bought it on a whim, thinking this could be a mistake, but its pretty good. You have tinker a lot, so its not a one click result, but it works. You get unique morphs. So yeah recommended.
Some good results talidesade!
Hello everybody!
I bought FaceGen Artist Pro 2.1, the latest version as of this post. It has been noticed not only by me but by many users that the software generates a deformation of the eyes and Jaw, which compromises its facial and orbital axis expression when closing it. I have already contacted the software manufacturer, but there is no precise date for a fix.

Love it much better then that transfer thingy
Oops looks like my original render pic was in violation so here it is redone
@Bobvan still haven't tried the demo of transfer I'm pretty happy with Facegen at least everyone has few choices now what to use. This is my latest the face is from Generated Faces which are faces created combining features of different people to create someone new that doesn't exist. Used Facegen morph not at 100% which also altered in facegen has several sliders to alter shape of different parts of the face plus morphs from different morph packs bought in Daz Studio

Nice
Export the base resolution mesh with it dialed in
use morphloader and select attenuate by surface choose face and create morph one
do it again choose lips and create morph 2
then once more choose head/torso create morph 3
maybe ears etc if needed depends on how much out
dial those all in and not the Facegen morph
export that obj
use that one in morphloader to create your fixed morph and save it as support asset morph and drill down to the right box and check it
1st was the G3 version this is G2. Nice that facegen is mutlti generations
Yeah, Facegen does ALL Genesis models, even G1. I think it is kind of messed up that Daz's own Face Transfer is the ONLY ONE out of the three face making apps that does not support multiple generations of Genesis. Head Shop does 2, 3, and 8. Yet Daz Face Transfer only supports the latest Genesis 8. It makes it look like Daz does not care about their previous generations at all.
Well, just think if you were a Mac user: There's only the Head Shop app available. But DAZ provided a free Face Transfer for Windows users. Sigh!
Here is some stuff from the early days. These were with Genesis. I find G2 and 3 give better results.
I'm sorry, but it is generally accepted that choosing Mac or Linux is likely going to get less support regardless of the software. That is just how it is. When people get frustrated with Daz for releasing yet another white girl, the common response is they make what sells. The same is true here. Linux and Mac make up such a small percentage of users that supporting them for everything just doesn't make logical sense...or dollars and cents. Maybe down the road they will, but its not something we can really expect.
Face Transfer isn't free, it has a free demo, but it is very limited allowing you to save only 3 faces. Facegen has a free demo at its own website. It is limited as well, in that your exports get a giant "FG" on your forehead and it only supports G1 and G2. Of course Facegen is only Windows as well, and for the same reason.
