Care to post a link to the 1.11 version?

Thanks, I wasn't sure if that turns into the release version if one can enter one's serial number. I see no Changelog between 1.10 and 1.11.

Hmmm...well it's maybe in DAZ QA? Bust to ask in the FaceGen support forums.

Unfortunately I didn't receive an email stating there was an update so now I wonder how relevant it is. Of course if it's an update to allow it to work with GF8 then I want it.

Care to post a link to the 1.11 version? Or do paying customers have to ask the business individually for a link every time there is a new version that doesn't have an upgrade fee? They need to get that sorted.

My Facegen is 1.11 & I bought direct from the site long before it was at DAZ  so they must have sent an email for the update but it was a while back & I no longer have a copy - I guess You will need to contact Facegen support if you can't locate your mail

@nicstt So the method you are descriving is as follows:

Create face gen character as usual using G3

Save the character as a material preset

Load G8 and select the wearables preset that you saved so that they go on G8

Does that also bring in the face shape/morphing that facegen creates?

I'm sorry if the answer is obvious, I'm not great with tech until I have played with it a lot and I'm pretty new.

I'm a bit late, yes the material works as is, and as another poster said, wont transfer the face shape.

Just be sure to have the eyelash mats (saved with the eye moisture, which is on both objects) saved as well; you could just use the same shader and right click and copy the materials across.

Thanks I contacted them. I thought I had asked them to update my email earlier but they didn't. I have my serial number & purchase information. Maybe they will update my email this time.

She looks good except the tongue. I thought it was raspberry bubblegum. Where is that bikini from?

just redid her think know what did wrong when doing head in surfaces you select face, lips and ears but think I selected other parts of head too which caused this. The bikini is the3dwizard's RealFit Dtring Bikini really nice product https://www.daz3d.com/realfit-string-bikini

Here's a trick.  If you have FaceGen and if you have games on your PC that have decent character face builders (for example Dragon's Dogma or Black Desert Online), you can make characters in game and take all the headshots at the required angles easily to work with FaceGen.  You will have to tweak the skin textures a bit since there will be some unwanted reflections in the headshots, but the transitions into Studio work very well (it helps if you are good with image editors).

If you really want it to look like the character you made, I recommend you try to work with the exported FaceGen skin texture and not use another character's skin.  A lot of a person's actual look depends as much on their skin as it does on the shape of the face.  Regardless of the morphs coming over, if you use some other character's skin, it will not look the exactly same (there's an example of that in this thread).  You will also have to apply some kind of IRay shader to the skin textures as these will not be IRay ready.

If you want to take it to the next level, there is a program called ShaderMap 3 that lets you upload the skin textures generated in FaceGen (after you clean them up) and it will generate the Normal, AO, Displacement, etc. maps that you can just assign in Studio when you assigne the skin textures.

There is also a bank of celebrity faces already made for use in FaceGen which you can then export to Studio.  It's here: http://www.relativitybook.com/CoolStuff/facebank.html

Hair is https://www.daz3d.com/trixy-hair-for-genesis I used UHT hair textures and tweaked to get the right "carrot-top" red. laugh

Lashes belong to another character, I forget which one.smiley

    Very nice, thanks!

  • That product just looks like the greatest. Is there any reason to own any other morph or buy any character when you got this ??

    No G8 compatibility yet though...

  • buying other morphs characters helps greatly gives you more options as well as making your character look more the way you want, also it does work for g8 in a way just create your texture using saving as a g3 and these textures will work on g8 tried a few of the g3 ones I've done on g8 turned out good these of course are textures only so you can't use the g3 head morph but again that is where having other characters and morphs help

Unless they actually told you which celebrity character's faces they were imitating with FacGen you'd have no idea who it was.

The power of suggestion seems more powerful than the program itself in producing any realistic likenesses.

Its most likely my bad explanation & missing parts out :(

You need to be in the Geometry Editor then right click on the model & go to

Geometry Selection - Select By - Face Groups - leye

You need to do this part twice (once for each eye)

Once it looks like this you can right click again & use clear selected deltas

I tried to follow your tutorial here, I diled in the morph, made it favourite, then I selected the eyes so it looks like in your pick but when I  click clear selected deltas I get an error message: "This action requires a geometry with favourite morphs to be selected in the geometry tool". What am I doing wrong? I am a beginner at Daz studio so there's lots of things I don't know anything about, like where's the geometry editor, I only see that you can select geometry editor tool in toolsettings,is that it?

Sorry for the weird post, I find it wery confusing to post and quote posts here frown

Something a lot of people overlook is using the face creation without even touching photographs. There are a whole slew of options to make unique faces you can bring in and play with.

I've had the demo on my laptop for sometime, but I've only just tried it. I love it. I've only tried it on my personal models that I use in other programs, but the results have been brilliant (apart from the massive FG on her forehead cheeky ).

But, right at this moment, I can only dream of having that sort of money. So, for now it's on the wishlist.

By the way, if I save a project in the Demo version (where the face has been made, but not exported to Daz), and I open it later in the full version, would the face still have FG on it, or would it be removed (I hope that question made sense). Thanks ^^

    @tombraider4ever

I can reproduce your error message when I forget to favorite the morph concerned so check that the heart shape next to your facegen morph is filled and then do the "clear selected deltas"

Alternatively this software on sharecg automates the process

The 'FG' will be gone in the full version :)

  • @devilsatdusk15

The pro version would remove the FG and you could export the morph/textures out to any of the supported bases (currently G1, G2, G3)

Thanks for the reply! smiley  I had favourited the morph, but it didn't work anyway. Thanks for the link to the free fixprogram, but it didn't work. I did what it said in the readme, I choose C:\Users\Carina\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\Presets\Shaping as the place to put the finished morph, but when I try to load it on G2 nothing happens sad,  what am I doing wrong, should I put the file somewhere else?

The file needs to be saved in the data folder not a preset folder as it will become a new slider for the character

For using the software your screen should look something like the attached

I usually save the corrected morph to the original data file & give it a slightly different name - once I check its as I want it I delete the original Facegen Morph

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to help me with this! heart I saved the morph into the same facegen folder and now it works perfectly! smiley The eyes were just a little bit too small as the character is a cartoony one with big eyes and she looks crosseyed but that can be fixed by scaling and posing  the eyes, but they are perfectly round. Now that I know that the eye thing can be fixed I will buy the full version when it comes on a good sale smiley

Thank you for replying. It's good to know that I wouldn't have to start over. Thanks again.

There is one thing that I am struggling with and that's finding cheeks/cheekbones, when mapping the front-facing image. Then again, I'm not having much luck with the lower jawline either, in the left/right mapping views. It's making a few of my characters a bit "chubby", when they're not meant to be... :/ I'm still enjoying it though.
