I don't ignore anyone... I'm not even sure what it does exactly, my guess is it makes their posts invisible, but I've never tried it.

I'm betting a lot of people are ignoring me.

Its actually recommend by the Surgeon General and most mental health professionals.

And no, you've never bugged me. Unless you are the guy who stuffed the badger in my mailbox... Clever... But quite obnoxious.

Man, I'd never ignore you! Although there are times when you drop the great wall-o-text that I truly wish you'd use a bit more white space to make the reading easier. cheeky

  • I very rarely put anybody on ignore anywhere, and never have on a 3D discussion board.  I just tend to snooze a lot wink

  • I have yet to encounter a reason to ignore anyone.  These forums, in my limited experience here, just don't get to the same levels of bile, vitriol, and elitism that other communities have gotten to in the past.

  • Agreed. As an indie author, I've seen and been subjected to some pretty nasty stuff on forums. This place is an island of calm in comparison. I've never ignored anyone, especially not someone as helpful as Will!

Since the Ignore function doesn't remove their posts from search results, it's useless to me.  I tried ignoring BeeMKay so his german translation of sales would get out of my search results when I'm trying to look up product information, but it still fills up half the page.

If the thread is such a nusiance to people, I can ask the mods to delete it. I won't be able to make translations anyway for some time, due to time constraints.

I would appreciate it, but if it is still being helpful to people then it is a nusiance I can tolerate.

Wanted to add that I have never had problems with your normal posts, and after the attempt did not work I turned off the Ignoring.

  • I don't ignore anyone, though there is a certain member frequenting this and another forum who I have thought about ignoring.

Actually many who post here are constructive, friendly, and more than helpful when another member needs advice.  Beyond that one bad apple, these forums are truly a great place to be.

  • I would never use ignore as even the most "difficult" people have knowledge that I might need one day & I don't let other peoples opinions get to me

As for Will I can't imagine anyone putting him on ignore as he is always willing to share his knowledge , I know I read most if not all of Wills posts :)

In my experience, many people (in general) tend to ignore others who have knowledge and who experiment with new things.

  • The only time I've been tempted to use the "ignore" feature is when useful threads have been hit by machine gun posts by someone who is seemingly irrational and extremely persistant. I would never set someone to "ignore" just because they posted an opinion I disagreed with, even if it annoyed me. That would, for me, pretty much defeat the object of interacting in public.

Hey, someone truly skilled might get themselves ignored by all the mods, whereupon they could say what they liked.

    Ar.......es!

Well, it was useful at the time it was updated, but like I said, I don't have the time to update it. I'll ask one of the mods to remove the thread.

I find the ignore tool thoroughly useless, I've had one person on ignore and invariably when it came to one of their posts in one thread or another, I'd then click to expand and see what they were saying anyway... Why? Why do I click? So the ignore tool is super useless for me.

But, generally, this forum is so polite, that there isn't really anyone I get mad enough at to  hold a grudge, Though I do try to not read the biannual "I don't approve of what these real or imaginary women are wearing" threads, just skim and maybe post a facetious comment (I know my limits of self control, less time spent reading that, smaller odds of me posting a 5 paragraph feminist rant, nobody wants that)

My biggest problem in the forums is the lack of swearing, Its so hard not to :( I am actually an incredibly, incredibly vulgar person (anywhere else that second incredibly would definitely be a different word)

Yeah, I'd be swearing a fair amount if I were permitted. ;)

Also I'd be a lot more snide.

There are times when I have to refrain from ranting in the forums. I can get really belligerent if I dont take time and edit my thoughts. I dont post alot, I comment here and there. But if I have zero precense in the forums, its because its better that way for all.

I do not use the ignore list.  the only place that I have officially "ignored" anything is my facebook page and that is usually politcal shares.  Here, on DAZ, if I want to ignore someone, I just breeze through their posting - either a singular post or thread.  I am a lurker and not as dedicated to lurking as I use to, so my method works for me.  Keeps it simple.  I have found that nearly everyone, at some point or another, has something worthwhile or interesting to say, even if I disagree.   The various tones, voices, and "flavours" of the posts is part of what makes the forums interesting.

There are some people whose names I recognize at a glance as usually having something interesting or informative to say and those I tend to read more often and skip less.  Will, yours do tend to be more in that category, as do others that have posted here.

Never used the ignore option (wherever it is) but I have had a couple of comments of mine deleted by the moderators. I have wondered if that happens very often to others on the forum.

This is the only forum where there is no one who annoys me so much I wish there was an ignore button; there is the occasional troll-type, but no regular user; two people I find myself regularly disagreeing with, and on occasions I post to do said disagreement; you're defininitely not one of them Will.

Same here. I'm a real potty mouth (as those that know me can attest...lol). I guess I'm not alone ;). Maybe it's a good thing swearing is frowned upon...might make people more civil. Who knows?

Yes, and I've had posts that deserved to be deleted and posts deleted that seemed really benign to me anyway ;). *shrug*. I guess the mod had their reasons. Doesn't bother me that much to be honest. LOL

i haven't ignored anyone, will, but even if i were going to, i certainly wouldn't ignore you.

i feel like this is generally a remarkably civiilzed board.  most of the populace is amiable, and the mods do a fine low-key job of keeping the vibe and focus in a good positive place.

Just curious, is there a way to determine how many people are ignoring a particular person?

For one thing, sometimes I'd like to know 'am I being unusually sensitive about what someone is saying, or is there a bunch of similar sentiments?'

For another, sometimes I'm really curious to know if I've rubbed a lot of people the wrong way...

"Snide" is good.  I like "sarcastic" myself.  It takes skill to do these properly so that they slip right over the head of the intended recipient. devil  And don't trigger the TOS snares.

And although I have used the "ignore" feature in these forums, it's very rare and as I said before only for a limited time to give me time to cool down and not be tempted to go nuclear.

There are other forums (not 3D related) where I have encountered persistently annoying morons that to this day remain on my list.

I don't ignore anyone...I didn't even think there was a feature to do this.  I read most of what's out there, if I don't care for it, I just skip it.

This is why I'm waiting on JediFox and Sith Explorer, so we can work the "ignore" function in the other direction.

It really takes a lot to ruffle my feathers, so to speak. I tend to realize that text doesn't convey certain things properly.

I generally dont have a problem with most people here, although more often than not, there are some people, who very frequently, make my eyes roll into the back of my head.  I treat online forums like a treat people in real life. If I dont like you, I simply dont talk to you (unless somehow forced). There has only ever been one person here who I see their name and just scroll past whatever they post.
