How many folks are ignoring someone/me?

Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,088

Just curious, is there a way to determine how many people are ignoring a particular person?

For one thing, sometimes I'd like to know 'am I being unusually sensitive about what someone is saying, or is there a bunch of similar sentiments?'

For another, sometimes I'm really curious to know if I've rubbed a lot of people the wrong way...

I'm not ignoring you...lol. I happen to think you're one of the more helpful and informative posters ;). Someone has to REALLY annoy the heck outta me for me to put them on ignore.

Anyone ignoring you Will are unlikely to respond to your post, so you will never know!

To answer your post, I don't ignore anyone.

I for one am not ignoring anybody, but I'd like you to not ask about this as it pulls up negative feelings. I believe there is a good reason that there is an ignore possibility and its anonymous.

    Definitely not you!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I do have two persons on my Ignore list ... more peaceful living.

  • I only have one person on ignore on this forum (not the OP ;) ) and that is someone I have on ignore on ALL the forums I frequent. And I know I'm not the only one, their condescending and disrupting behaviour is well known all over the community heh. It also takes a lot for me to put someone on ignore, so if I do, they really deserve it :P

  • Well in honestly, I  do have you on ignore. There was a thread a while back where I thought you were over the top. I think where you were arguing with  me about the definition of too expensive.

Sadly for you, my browser won't let me unignore you. Because I read your posts anyway. Ignore is kind of a useless feature I think.

I do have several people on ignore, mostly because I do not care for their posts, or they spam art I don't like to look at. The number is fairly small though. =-)

Linwelly: Oh, I didn't mean not making it anonymous. That's clearly a good idea. I just meant something like '16 users have X on ignore' or 'Y has 153845 users ignoring them. System must be glitched...' or whatever.

Serene Night: Huh, I can see that. Sometimes I'm a bit too PASSIONATE (passionate artists?? Heaven forfend!)

  • I do not have anyone on ignore to my knowledge. I found out if you ignore someone, you do not ignore the topics they start.

  • I always read your posts. They are great! Don't worry about it.

I periodically turn off the ignore feature to see what those that ignore the crap out of me have said recently and then turn it back on when I have had enough................joke!

I'd like to think I am mature enough where I would never have to use the ignore feature, but you never know. Other than your frequent procedural shader ramblings, I see no reason to ignore you, LOL

  • I don't have anyone on ignore- but you as for you, Will, you are one of the few people I go out of my way to read-due to your often helpful and useful comments.

Of course, I ignore you, Will.

I just like talking to myself. cheeky

Other than that, I believe in the power of communication, and "sleeping over things a night or two" if someone really manages to annoy me enoug to blow a fuse (which so far only one individual on this forum ever managed).

Also, the good old "sender receiver horizon" thingy, and such things. So, if you annoy me, I'll let you know. The question is... do I annoy you? wink

EDIT: Also, one thing I learned while communicating in English - it's very easy to make mistakes and unwittingly creating a mess by not understanding "local" customs, traditions and rules. Like, if you'd call someone a "Grammatik-Nazi" here in German (grammar nazi), you'd probably get into serious conflict with people, but it seems to be perfectly okay to use in the US.

I don't see any point in an ignore list. I don't ignore anyone. The same way I wouldn't walk into a room and ignore someone just because I A) don't like them or B) don't like what they have to say. I will listen politely and reply if appropriate but never ignore, I'm a better person than that.

  • I'm pitching fastball and no ones swinging, some of my top-shelf zingers have dried up posts so I'm convinced most, or likely all of you are ignoring me.

I got more haters than scrappy doo up in this piece.

In my opinion, the ignore feature is a "required" part of any forum that wants to stay civilized. In real life, you avoid people you don't want to be around, the same is true for the online world. Ignoring certain people, ignoring certain threads. I can't imagine coming to the forums as often as I do without these features. People I only tend to ignore when they are being overly negative (which is ironic, as sometimes I can be pretty negative, too :)). Threads, I originally just ignored the ones that were in languages I did not understand, but these days there are topics that I ignore altogether, and don't want them appearing in the new messages list.

Huh, I didn't even know there was an ignore option!  Doesn't really matter as the only person I would ignore, after a major blowup on the forums happened, kind of dropped out after the blowup.  I just kind of stayed away from that person without an ignore on my own as I didn't need the hassle.  I can easily ignore someone all on my own.  I can't say I'm sad to see them gone either.  As for you Will, I really hope you already know how I feel about your very helpful advice.

You can see how many people ignore you somewhere?  That seems rather rude and depressing.  I'm not sure I'd want to know how many people have me on ignore.  I like living in blissful ignorance.

edit: please don't tell me where to look either.  I don't want to know!

I appreciate the well-wishes (been feeling a bit stressed out/down lately). But I was actually a little more curious about how many people ignore people I ignore. ;)

Don't worry about it.  smiley  And if you get too sensitive, you'll worry about saying anything at all.

NOBODY has more haters than Scrappy Doo. Proof? They made him the Big Bad of the Scooby Doo movie, and you didn't see a SINGLE complaint about "That movie mocks/destroys/ruins my childhood memories!" or the like. :D

I don't think it's a good idea to publicly tell us who you ignore, so we might never find this out... :)

OMG, that's quite a compliment!  smiley (And I'm sure it's due to all the wonderful vendors and forum members who share what they know.) Regardless, thank you so very much!

I don't think that movie was the catalyst for the scrappy hate, it was I think when I was a kid I watched the first episode with him and just thought "I don't ever want to watch cartoons again." at least until "Poochy"

I'm not ignoring you.  Thought never entered my mind.  I've never seen anything you've ever said that is dislikeable, or even anyone showing contempt toward you.

If anybody is ignoring you they probably won't respond.

I know I've ruffled a few feathers in my day.  And there have been several people here who have at one time or another been on my "ignore" list which I clean out now and then and it never grows longer than 3 entries.

But for those who are ignoring me, I don't worry about them at all.  It's not my job to be liked by everybody.

Somebody not tolerating you is their problem.  Worrying about it is yours.

I get slapped on the wrist now and then by the forum naz...(er moderators) but usually because I was flinging a little too much poo.

Basicly the common sense is, don't argue with people.  Make one reasoned explanation of your stance, stamp the dust off your feet and walk away.  If the irritation persists, put them on ignore, but remove it after a few weeks until they prove themselves a right twat.

One shouldn't be paranoid about people not liking them.  It's a fact of life.  Adapt.  And don't poke a sleeping bear.

I have um ... not sure how many - and not because it's in the hundreds!!!! Or even tens .. a couple? set to ignore.  I have no idea how many, and no way (that I know of or care about) of finding out numbers or who they are!  I can remember one name as I keep seeing the 'you are not seeing this because you are ignoring' messages, but am sure I have more than just them.

I just presume that everyone ignores me. Why assume the forums are any different than at home? :)

And a lot of us cheered when that happened... Scrappy's definitely one of the least liked characters in the history of television, though he does have a few rivals as "the least liked".  I'd certainly put Cousin Oliver on The Brady Bunch in the same category, along with Wesley Crusher from Star Trek TNG, "Jai" from the old Tarzan TV series, and the entire "new" second season supporting cast of Mork & Mindy.   .

I have often wonder that question myself.   I'm not ignoring you either Will,  I think I am following you on most of your threads.  If anyone is ignoring you, they are missing out on a treasure trove of useful information.  I think to many people are to politically correct now days,  its really sucked the fun outf of a lot of Art forums on the Internet.. I always thought art was about sharing Idea's and opinions. even the outlandish fantasies.  But las, i guess i was wrong, So as of lately I've been come more of a lurker. I got more important things in my life to worry about than care what some anonymous user hiding behind a computer thinks of me of my opinions. so I guess if anyone does ignore you Will its properly for the better anyway.    I'm a Fan of yours for sure.
