I have this theory that one or more of the prominent search engine providers are intentionally making the traditional search results useless, while feeding the good results to their AI, for the sake of making the AI seem better than traditional search. But this doesn’t explain why the traditional search was getting terrible before the AI thing.

You aren't far off... but also $$.

It's good to hear from you again. I was thinking you might never respond to me again after one too many of my attempts to take something, that you were possibly joking about, and try to will it into existence.

Anyway, perhaps you would be interested in knowing that, while I was trying to find your original post, I stumbled upon a break in the space/time continuum. The last post in this thread is from May 2024. But the new thread it links to starts at June 2025. An entire year is mysteriously gone. Unless the moth water is real and I had too much of it. The truth is not out there.

Non-complaint:  Yay!  The road crew just came through with their paint machine.  The State road past my house that they repaved months ago, finally has its yellow center stripes.yes  Better late than never.

    A few moments later:

Wheee... they just came back and painted the near side white edge stripe.  Will I see the far side edge stripe today?  Oh, the excitement, the excitement!

    A few moments later:

    Missed it.sad

Thanks.  Yeah, he was a wierd bird.  Maybe that's why I liked him.  Strangest story I heard was that he once visited New York City during the '40s or '50s and apparently disturbed him so much that he's has never been anywhere else.   Even refusing to go with his family on vacations.  Weird.indecision  Very soft spoken, very friendly, smart, very business savvy, just no desire to leave the boonies of this county.

Road construction still ongoing:  This morning the State road crew came through again and placed a temporary automated traffic control stoplight in front of my house.  Apparently controlling one-way traffic outside the western edge of the town for a distance.  Those types of things are usually not for a single day. Tomorrow, my bus to uptown will take that route, maybe I'll get to see what they're doing.

Tomorrow's mini-adventure all planned: 8:00 bus to the hole-in-the-wall beanery for breakfast in the decrepit mini-mall.  About 9:00 Uber to WalMart next to the mall & franchise row on the far side of the city, slowly browse WalMart, looking for a new pair of jeans that fit my newly slenderized body.yes  If necessary, sit for a while on the benches WalMart provides, until Applebee's opens at 11:00.  Toddle across WalMart's parking lot to Applebee's for an early lunch.  About noon, Uber back to the hospital area in the center of the city, wait in my doctor's waiting room until my appointment at 1:15.  Then Uber home.  I wish the bus system in this city were more convenient.  So few connections between the franchise row & mall area, and the city center & hospital area.  Expensive day but minimal walking and I'm really looking forward to the lunch at Applebee's.  Budget shot, and two weeks to go in the "month", but what the heck it's my birthday month.smiley

  • Happy Bday Month @LeatherGryphon!

I'd vote for that new thread title @NylonGirl

Last night around 6-7pm (~3.5 days post Halloween) local Walmart had plenty of 25% off Halloween candy, including lots of the tasty chocolate micro-bar bags. This never happens. Is it a new economic indicator?

I have been having fun with AI but I need to play with DS again.

I made the same guy a Starfleet officer.  Who does he look like?

So, in our area the major city is Kansas City. And there are lots of little suburbs nobody from other areas have heard of. Like if somebody asks you where you’re from and you say “Gladstone”, then they say “what?”. Then you give up and say “I’m from Kansas City” and they say, “oh”.

And the way some of these places look on a map must be ridiculous. For instance, it is possible to drive in a straight line and you see signs notifying you that you’ve left Kansas City and entered Raytown. And continuing in a straight line, you manage to leave Raytown and return to Kansas City. And I'm pretty sure this can happen more than once.

Anyway, Kansas City manages the city bus service. And some of the outlying areas license the bus service. But they dramatically increased the price. Like they expected Gladstone to go from paying $100,000 per year to $200,000 per year or something like that. And Gladstone said no. So Kansas City no longer allows the bus service to operate in Gladstone even though the bus drives through Gladstone to travel the Kansas City route.

A prime example of how stupid this is was when we tried to ride a city bus earlier this year. We got on the bus in Kansas City. We tried to get off at a bus stop. The bus driver informed us that we can’t get off there because it’s in Gladstone. So he continued to hold us as captives until we went all the way through Gladstone and back to Kansas City on the other side. This was the first time I ever used Lyft. It was the only way to get to my car, which was stuck in Gladstone waiting for us while we were stuck in Kansas City on the other side of Kansas City. And this is before we even get to that other Kansas City that nobody knows about. But I’ll save that for later.

I suspect they increased the price by 25%... or more... just before Halloween. Then they could decrease the price after Halloween and just make it what it costs normally... or more...

Buy it cheap and keep it to give away next year. Works for Christmas decorations... And Christmas Puddings. We had a Christmas Pudding 4 years after the 'best before' date (which in itself is usually 18 months after sale), it was perfectly nice after rehydration with brandy. Regards, Richard

Despite me having prepared a bowl of Dove Dark chocolate morsels for Halloween, the kids never came (never really expected them to), I still have a bowl of Dove Dark chocolate morsels minus 5.  Just 5.  The rest, I'm proud to say didn't get snarfed down.  I've now hidden the nearly whole bag, and the other unopened bag with them.  May they sleep quietly in the dark recesses that I banished them to, for the foreseeable future.  Some dark miserable snowy night in the dead of winter, they will be a suitable surprise discovery.devil

Oh gosh. Now I'm trying to remember the words to the Christmas Pudding song. I bet it's been 25 years since the last time I heard it... and the lady who used to sing it passed about six years ago, so I can't ask her. Dang.

Going to have to see who else knows it. Has to be SOMEONE.

I think I would be pretty nice after being rehydrated with Brandy. I might think my name was Brandy. They'd say "you've had too much brandy" and I would hear "you've had too much, Brandy".

We were at a KFC restaurant earlier today. And I didn’t have any Brandy so I wasn’t too nice. The plan was to try the “country fried steak” for $4.99 USD.

Nobody actually took the order. There was a bell to ring. I rang it but still nobody took the order. I think there was only one person in there. I declared we should never return to this place, and then we went to the next closest KFC.

At the second KFC, we saw a sign on the door that said the country fried steak was only available on Wednesdays. Someone did acknowledge our presence though. So we went back to the original KFC to see if they indeed had this product on days other than Wednesday. Then I noticed at the bottom of their large sign, it said “every Wednesday”.

We’re back at home from the McDonald’s we ultimately went to, and I probably need to be rehydrated with something.

Non-complaint:  Mini-adventure day went off almost perfectly:  Breakfast, Gravy & biscuits in the decrepit mini-mall.heart  Walmart:  Found Levi Jeans for only $28yes  Also picked up a turkey sub sandwich for tomorrow lunch.  Applebee's: Lunch of Salmon & 2 veggies, margareta drink, and free b'day ice cream sundae.yes Dr. appointment went swimmingly, got covid & flu shots and good news from recent tests.smiley  So pleased, that I stopped at the decrepit mini-mall again to get Chinese take out (Mmmm, Szechuan Chicken)heart  Arrived home safely.yes   A very merry un-birthday to me.

'Nother Complaint:  Budget completely boogered.  Cannot spend a dime for two more weeks.frown  But nothing on the calendar for the next two weeks and food enough in the pantry.yes

COMPLAINT: The hair product thread I posted has been deleted by mods. Apparently I was promoting a product from another site? No, I was not! I merely linked to it and provided feedback on it. That's hardly promotion or endorsement. Talk about a Communist state!

That was a thread specifically created to talk about a product from another store. The forum TOS states that those are considered as a commercial thread for something not sold here, and such threads will be removed.

I did pay attention to Leana's warning, and bookmarked the link before it was too late. This item is the kind of innovation people have been asking for in DAZ Studio for many years now.

Home from my mammogram, and starting my laundry and other tasks and then rested with Simon to listen to this pudding song. Simon had comments throughout! I focused on the melody and the underlying joke. Pity the poor cat if I understood the song correctly?

Thank you Lord I have never had Haggis. My father, and his parents who love their Scottish roots never even thought to offer it to us.

So, pointing out a product that could be beneficial to the whole 3D community, possibly also providing inspiration for a PA here to create a similar product (which could benefit Daz in the longterm) is removed because of a ridiculous clause in a ToA that I'll bet less than 10% of posters here have ever read? Considering the amount of links I see pointing to products on other sites, this decision is plain ridiculous.
