An observation:  In criticism of AI, have you noticed that automatic AI readings of auto translations of documents, or dialog pronunciation within AI Slop clips, have difficulty recognizing the pronunciation difference between the words "read"(pr: reed) and "read"(pr: red).  Or between "lead"(pr: leed) and "lead"(the metal plumbum pr: led) Curiously, the differences are also the present and past tense of the infinitives "to read", and "to lead".  They sometimes get it right in one sentence only to confuse them again in the next.  Something so automatic with English speakers, but still AI has trouble with them.  A demonstration of actual lack of understanding of the context of what it's saying.  Sometimes AI sounds so knowlegable and wise, and then they fall flat on their face.  "Turing Test" failed!cheeky

It's coming up to bonfire night. Fireworks going off everywhere. Complaint: Cats appreciate it much less than we do, and the bangs scare the living daylights out of them. And one cat is currently out, presumably cowering. Non-complaint: weather has been good for painting the front fence. Finally finished the spray paint I bought 20 years ago - it went much further when brushed on. Even though the drift went much further when sprayed on, and neighbours wouldn't appreciate speckled cars. Regards, Richard.

Non-complaint:  Pumpkin gutted and carved.  With cat's eye pupils, sharply arched eyebrows, and a broad, sharp pointed, toothy, menacing grin with vampire fangs, and a deliberately half-broken, ragged tooth on the left end of the grin.

Complaint:  Now I have pumpkin guts in my garbage bucket that won't be picked up until Wednesday.

Non-complaint:  Bag of Dove Dark chocolate morsels opened and in a dish.  Yummm...heart

An observation:  I saw my landlady while setting out the pumpkin.surprise  I haven't seen her in a couple of years.  She's the mother of the house-neighbor guy and was taking some antique looking endtables into the house-neighbor's half of the house.  She waved.  I waved.indecision

Complaint:  I haven't had sweets in such a long time that the chocolate tastes too sweet, despite being dark chocolate.frown

In my limited experience British chocolate is sweeter than European, and US chcolate is sweeter than British. Try some Lindt 70%, or even 80%, cocoa.

    Boo

Not a great photo but the best I could do, in the dark, in the cold, on driveway stones, with bare feet.  Not enough light for my phone camera with the porch light off, too much contrast with it on, while shivering.  Good enough.smiley

I eat 85-100% cocoa chocolate, but I also like ghost peppers. So, I'm not exactly a bellwether for normal taste.

@McGyver: thought your 'Secrets everyone needs to know ' post was perfect. For me, the image containing all the secrets is a purple blob with the text 'Content not viewable in your region' written across it. Sums the internet up perfectly. Regards, Richard

Wow... I forgot that's a possibility... that whole some image hosting sites can't be viewed in other countries...

I used Imgur because I can't load attachments to these forums from any iOS devices... and I really only use my iPad to do forums and other internet stuff... but I can understand because iOS is a really new operating system and virtually no one owns an iPhone or iPad... (I imagine most people don't even know what those are)... Maybe one day if these devices catch on and become popular enough, DAZ will fix that bug that's only been around for like 10 years or so...

I'd say "lol", but I wasn't laughing... it was more of a snarling sound...

But back to the part about an Imgur hosted image not being able to be viewed in a particular country... I hadn't thought of that and realize now that seemed too easy to be possible... I guess I'm going to have to go back to my old method of posting images... transfer the image to SD card using an adapter plugged into my iPad... transfer the image to my Desktop or Notebook... upload the image to the "An OT Thread for images" in the Art Studio forum, as an attachment... then open that thumbnail image to get the URL... then enter it in the image upload box in menu at the top of the comment box so that it post in a easy to see size and fashion...

Easy-peezy... In fact this is so much better than if DAZ were to ever fix that delightful bug...

In fact it hardly even took me FORTY FIVE minutes to do it... because I hadn't done it in a long time and was determined to post that image you can't see in addition to a couple of test images which I forgot were HEIC format which Windows 7 dun no likes so I had to convert those... and also my daughter moved my SD card adapter... to exactly where told her it belongs... (things being located where they should be is always the last place to check)...

Anyway... I'm sorry about the issue with the image, I genuinely like for everyone to be able to see a stupid image I post, otherwise what is the point?

So here's that stupid frog who I feel quite a bit of undeserved animosity towards...

Look at that smug little booger... he knows what he did.

Anyway... I'm gonna go because this went way longer than it should have... all for one stupid frog... (and absolutely not because of a stupid bug that's never going to be fixed).

    So complaint again...

    This...

What... The... Hell... Is... That... ?...

Is that a candy bar for ants? Did some miniaturization experiment go awry? I'm I just remembering the size of quarters being smaller? Did me and the quarter get larger?...

Last year I joked to a friend about how small these "candy bars" are after we opened one up and compared it to a quarter and I guess the candy bar industry decided to one up me... it's literally 20% smaller than last year?

Bro... at this rate there's just going to be five chocolate molecules inside the wrapper by next year and they'll have quadrupled the price for our convenience.

    I hate this timeline.

It's an interesting social experiment on Halloween... because in my experience of taking Teen Kiddo around over the years (Little Dude wouldn't enjoy and stays with the grandfolks) the candy portions are absurdly tiny, but everyone handing it out (generally GenX and Boomers) is like "aw heck no, that's too small, have a handful" whereas in the same neighborhood when I was a kid, you had one item dropped in your bucket -- or two if it was a generous house. Far fewer lights on, FAR fewer kids out, but Kiddo comes away with probably 3x what I ever did on a good year for the same territory covered.

A lot of people have switched to lunchbox snacks... little bags of gummy bears or a wrapped rice krispie treat or such. Or glow sticks. Or, apparently, a small rubber duck (!!).

They made complete bank again this year.

But the sweetest moment was when we went up to one house with a bowl out that was empty... Kiddo reached in their bucket and made a donation "because some little kid is going to look in there and be disappointed, and I have lots."

I'm not sure what I did in this life or some life previous to deserve being blessed with the presence of that child's beautiful soul, but I will never stop being amazed and grateful.

A whole lot of adults on this planet could stand to take notes.

Not much Halloween here. I did get to wear my I'm Only Here For the Boos ghost tee & ghost earrings to work. I also subbed out my work visor for a Halloween kerchief. But it was a miserable 4 hours. I had a caramel apple with nuts to destress. It was also rainy -which we need) so I felt sorry for the kids hoping to attend Scare on the Square, where organizations/businesses give out treats in the small county seat's downtown. The only treat-giving at our house was to Bear & Gilligan. (We live on a middle of  nowhere street) Canine Carry Outs has limited edition Jack-o'-lantern treats, plus Bear's hip supplements.

The biggest Halloween excitement was secondhand. My Discord RPG group meets Saturday nights and finishing the Star Wars arc got pushed back another week when our Canadian member messaged that he was delayed. He had to wait to talk to police because there'd been a fight with a knife right outside his house and he'd seen it while dealing with the candy bowl.. We were all on voice, with Husband joining in and I asked, kind of joking, "Aren't Canadians supposed to be nice & polite?" Husband & the guys in my group then all told me there were some historical events I didn't know. When Canadian Friend finally got into the voice chat, he said the police told him he'd very likely get called as a witness when this got to court.

    And it's Clearance Candy Day!

non-complaint: Pretty much everything I ate today was primarily sugar, cheese, or olives.

Yeah, olives.sad  I love olives, big black ones, or little green ones.  Seeded and stuffed with pimento, or still whole, nibbling out the seed.  Firm yet yielding salty texture, and just enough sourness.  Mmmm... olives.heart  I could eat a couple dozen when in my prime.  But now, I pick out five small ones into a tiny plastic cup, and stare at them wistfully, thinking is that all I can tolerate?. Is that all there is?,  is that all there is my friends?  Then let's keep dancing...

Post Halloween Comment: Still sick, achy, headache, sniffy and overall feeling crappy. Last night, the neighbors had outdoor parties and were running up and down our metal stairs next to my bedroom. This morning (?) just before midnight, Simon decided to dive bomb me by jumping on my pillow behind my head, then over to the middle of the bed. He sneezed, then Charlie started to cough and jumped off the bed to do a circuit. Simon then did a victory racing run out of my room, back into it, and out again. Woke me up at 01:59am and as I watched my iPhone, I saw the time click to 01:00am! I finally scored one item on my bucket list. I saw the time change! Back to sleep over the meows. Up at 04:45 and even my flatmate was up before me.

LeatherGryphon if you have a Target near you check out their line of chocolates under the brand of 'favorite day' and 'dark chocolate with sea salt'. They are individually wrapped, and 7 per bag. Even my PA approved them for my diet. I love them and I have had European, English, and handmade American chocolates. These are up there in quality. Love your photo. Thank you for it.

McGyver it is so great to see you on the forum. I think that weird frog is wonderful and it makes me super happy humans are descended from the apes and not them. Can you imagine a world with their descendents? Snickers and other candies, I am so glad I am no longer maintaining an office candy bowl. I used to spend up to $50.00 to $100.00 a month to keep it stocked up. And then would get yelled at by some of the folks who would not add to it with donations for not buying their favorites.

SilverGirl You have total angels in Teen Kiddo and Little Dude and they show it in a variety of ways. Your love and care of them, along with your parents, nurtures them and gives them positive adult behaviors. Hugs for you all.

I do not want to count up how much I have spent at DAZ over the past few months. But I finally finished the tutorial I was working on when I came down with the flu weeks ago.

Well, too far behind to catch up, just dropping by to say I can only count to 19 now, the toe amputation finally took place Friday. Everything is Okay so far. I've got another appointment Wednesday with the surgeon for checking see if everything's alright.

...well just completed my "civic duty" for another year and rewarding myself with a steaming cup of traditional hot  cocoa (the kind made with warmed milk instead of boiled water.  The part that was difficult was the city and county elections which use the ranked choice system,

We are sent a "voter pamphlet" witch i more akin to an old small city telephone book in size.  Sadly it is of little help for those like myself with old tired eyes as it is in a very small typeface that is difficult to read even with glasses.  In the end good old fashioned self directed research is the only way to make the right decision *which these days is easier with the advent of computers and the Net),   Still it took a fair part of the evening using questions on topics that I felt were are important.  Everything complete, the envelope sealed and signed and ready to drop in the drop box tomorrow on my way to the pub for our weekly Monday Night Trivia.

Mmmmmmm real hot cocoa, the only thing missing are the fresh bakery cookies.(ate the last ones with lunch)  Time for a cookie run.

My voting place is two blocks away in the center of town.  (Everything in this town is in the center of town, just two blocks away, despite me living on the western boundary of the town.)indecision  So, tomorrow I toddle at daybreak to the firehall, then stop at the grocery store for anything considered essential at the moment, and a toddle back.  No particular reason to go at daybreak, there will be no long line at any time during the day, I'll be done in 10 minutes.  I just like going before I might see anyone I know and have to make uneasy, idle conversation(*shudder*) with people who I know are on the other side of the fence.

Non-complaint:  Will miracles never cease?  After nearly 4 years of trying, I finally was able to, again, order the exact gloves that I wanted.  During my active leatherman days, I had a pair of unlined, black, deerskin gloves of a specific style available at most proper motorcycle leather clothing shops around the country.  Over a couple of decades I wore out one pair, and lost another pair, and I've been looking and looking since.  No longer active in the leather scene and not able to visit big city leather shops, I kept searching on-line for exact replacements.  Yes I did get a cheap different style in the interim, not the same though, they lack the look that is me.  Then four years ago I found an online source and ordered a pair of exactly what I wanted, but what arrived was a totally different glove, a gauntlet instead of a short cowboy style.  I wanted to return them but the cost to do so was more than I wanted spend, and besides, the catalog now said "OUT OF STOCK".crying  I think the company sent me the gauntlet as appeasment for not having my choice.  Don't get me wrong, the gauntlets were very nice, lined, warm, winter gloves and significantly more expensive than the undecorated, simple cowboy style was, so I kept them for my collection (yes, I have a glove fetishblush)  Besides, I got them at about a 50% savings.yes  But I kept checking the site.  I sent them e-mail and even physical letters asking when the gloves would be back in stock, none of which were ever answered.frown  One year I saw them again in the catalog one moment, then when I got to the order page, they were gone again.crying (very popular I guess).  Another two years go by, checking every few months, and this morning they were back!  And this time the order went through.  Yay!smiley  Now it remains to be seen if they actually arrive.  This time I paid the extra $4 for free return shipping in case they turn out to be another pair of gauntlets.indecision  Maybe I'll have a self-birthday gift this year after all.yes

Complaint: Been feeling really down lately. Not slept properly for months, just cat napping as and when. Had no work from the agency for a week now, I've just not been in the right frame of mind for it. Just getting up in the mornings has been a trial, never mind making it outside.

Non-Complaint: Finally made the effort to see someone, but only because I had to pick up my prescription. I saw my brother yesterday and we had a bit of a chat as he's been through some tough noggin busting grief and that's made it a bit easier for me. I'm just waiting on a referral to see a psycho wotsit person. I've been carrying a lot of shizz for the last two decades and my safety valve has finally blown. Hopefully it won't take too long to see someone.

I am getting sleepy.  I poured some Doritos into a red bowl while watching the end of Wheel of fortune.  now the bowl is empty except for some crumbs.  I have been watching the bowl and no one else has been near the bowl.

also was having issues with DIM.  not sure what this means?

I restarted the computer and now DIm can download and install the Genesis 9 starter essentials.

Now I need to get ready for Bett.  Do not think I will bring my Debian computer with me tomorrow. Mainly because I do not have the energy to look for its charger.
