Shame there's nothing in the new releases that holds the slightest bit of interest to me....

Must admit I think Riversoft's new Voxelizer is a clever idea. And I'm equally sure I have absolutely no idea what I'd use it for.

Same for both. And I have no use for the Stonemason's checkpoint 17, which means I can't get the 20% off entire cart without buying something I don't need at all. And none of those items are inexpensive.

Same here. I have no earthly use for it but ... it's weird and I want it.

If Checkpoint 17 was more modern military or WWII era rather than sci-fi, I may have found a use for it. But I'm not paying that sort of money to have to then re-texture the whole asset to suit my needs.

Yes it's a clever idea but unless you're going Roblox style, I can't see any use for it.

How does it compare with SimTenero's earlier one?

i also wonder how both of them compare to this: https://www.daz3d.com/mesh-to-volume-and-back

The first Star Wars was also a heavy plot rip from Akira Kurasawa's The Hidden Fortress with other lifts from Herbert's Dune, Flash Gordon, and the climax of Dambusters stuck on the end, while C3PO is a blantantly obvious male version of the iconic Maria robotrix from Metropolis.

I would say that "Valerian and Laureline" holds so much iconic similarity to many of Star wars "famours" originals that I always wondered that they were not sued on it.
Just do a search on "valerian star wars similarities" and put on the images...
Perhaps European comic artists are more relaxed about this then American movie lawyers...

The problem with that argument is that the Valerian comic started running in France in 1967, a full ten years before Star Wars, and the storyline that eventually became the movie, Ambssador of Shadows, started running in 1975, so any possible theft would have been going the other way. ;)  And, of course, both were building on a long tradition of space opera stories, with Lucas only coming up with the his idea for Star Wars after h'de tried to buy the rights to remake Flash Gordon in the early 70s only to find that DIno Delaurentis had already bought the remake rights in 1964 (around the same time that Dino had also bought the rights to Barberella and Danger: Diabolik.) Now, if you want to talk serious similarities, Luc Besson really wanted to make a film of Valerian back in the early 90s as he'd loved it as a kid, but he ended up making The FIfth Element first as a less-expensive to produce kind of homage eventually tackling the original when digital technology made it more possible. Ironic that 5th Element turned out to be a much better film, but there you go...

DasTri  was aware of and saying that by my reading.

Exactly. The only thing in it that would be useful in a kitbash is probably the garbage bags.

I almost put this in my cart, but decided against it, The antler crown is great, especially, but I'm offended on principle that G8/8.1 Male was not considered for fit.

I could buy it anyway and make my own adjustments, but if the vendor doesn't want my money I'm not going to give it to them.

Called it! The missing sushi is in the D+ items today!

    Also, sushi poses!

The posture and eating expression are fantastic. This might be the first product featuring a great chopsticks-holding posture. I definitely need these.

The other set of sushi utensils was also exquisite.

The Ratte (https://www.daz3d.com/landcruiser-ratte) would imho profit from having paintjobs in Dunkelgelb or Rotbraun.

I'm always excited to see realistically modeled & detailed cars and trucks that are generic or adulterated so as to avoid the dreaded Editorial Use license restriction. I'm generally a fan of Pinkslip's contemporary "normal" vehicles like the pickup truck, the ambulance, the suv and tour bus (not the race/supercars though) and this semi truck new release was one of my insta-decisions to buy during intro.  The one thing I don't love as much is how "dry" Pinkslip's models look - they're so precise and unnaturally clean and shiny and so to me they don't feel completely realistic straight  "out of the box". But the modeling looks great and they have meaningful attention to details and rigged features so that's all the most important stuff; it's easy enough to tweak paint. interior materials and/or add dirt, little bits of wear etc to get away from the architectural rendering sort of perfection they have and get them to feel more real-world. For this new truck set, I'm thinking it needs lots of decals and little details that big rigs on the real roads all have like the little inspection and various certification stickers on back of cab etc.  I'm hoping that Pinkslip's  contemporary vehicles sell well enough that they'll continue making more!  I'd love to see them do some 60s and 70s inspired vehicles... a cool old-school convertible would be super!

This looks pretty good. It's about time there was a newer alternative to Big Bill. I'm not paying $53 for it though so it can stay on my w/l until I can bring that price down.

Yay for the return of missing sushi! :) I can see why they broke it out into separate items. And it's cool they're Daz+ items.

I have bought them and will be converting the poses to  G8, will report my result, shame I can't do the same to the expressions :(

@Lorraine I'm going to be looking at the possibility of doing a pose copy script between generations 8 & 9 (both ways is my aspiration). The script will allow pose mirroring and limb selection. I want to include the face control sliders in G9 and correlate them to facial bone movements in G8. If I can do that (and there really is no guarantee at all, it's actually pretty difficult), then I may have the means to copy bone/control slider based expressions between the generations. It'll be a little like the pose copy scripts I've already done here

Yes, the bundle looks wonderful, a must-have. Unfortunately, it has to be on my wishlist first...

That sounds awesome. I have your previous pose copy scripts and they work well, but to get expressions as well would be fab!

Yes, beautiful, and it feels well thought out too, all the way down to the promos.

I saw it in my newsletter and knew it would be in my cart ASAP when I opened the DAZ store, those roses are gorgeous. The same way as Stonemason's https://www.daz3d.com/checkpoint-17 was yesterday. I see possibilities for current, and sci-fi use.

And while I didn't get the sushi store earlier this week, I did read the comments others wrote and looked at the promos today and the major selling point for me was the poses for the chopsticks. I only know of one other pose set for chopsticks but it's for noodles by Ansiko. So the store, food, poses and the freebie are in my cart.

I just wish Outlet and Quick Grab would get fixed!

the new sushi and poses look to be great. If I could, in my usual style, point out maybe a missing item? Wasabi. But I dont eat sushi so not sure if its always on offer. These two products surely round out the cafe though. I see other sushi products but not as detailed as these.

I love the little wooden critters used as chopsticks-rests. :)

Also agreed, imo Fabiania has an impressive eye for art/design.

Perplexed voxelized elephant made me laugh, haha

  • I don't have a ton of time (the sushi isn't always completely resting on the shelves properly, lighting could be tweaked, it could use a few more render cycles, for example) but I made a quick render of a few of the new releases - https://www.daz3d.com/se-nekobimi-cafe with today's sushi https://www.daz3d.com/se-nekobimi-sushi, with today's https://www.daz3d.com/cnb-mingxi-hd-for-genesis-9 wearing today's https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-eg-lovely-dress-for-genesis-9, with a pose and facial expression from today's sushi poses https://www.daz3d.com/se-sushi-lover-poses-for-genesis-9, with Daz House Cat pleading for some sushi.  Everything is how it comes out of the box except tweaking the size of the register to accomodate the cat, and just increasing lighting.  Just to bring a few of the recent releases together.

It IS an odd ommission, but then again, it's also being shown being served in a resteraunt with no sushi counter, and Japanese diners usually want to see their sushi being prepared.  As a workaround, wasabi is often served in Japanese restaurants in seperate small dishes or in a small covered jar or urn with a tiny spoon at the table rather than automatically dolloped on the plate or board.  The extra paw-dishes in this set would work well for the former and there are several other sushi products out there that include a ball of wasabit that could be placed on it. Alternatively, you could also steal a dollop of toothpaste from a toothbush prop and color it soft green as an alternative, given that inexpenisve wasabi is often sold in toothpaste like tubes.

Thank you, Fabiana! I'd been getting so depressed with the store lately, so much just boobs or gore or dystopia, so many promo renders dreary or harsh. Your new set brought loveliness and color back onto the front page. And it looks really useful as well!
