    Excellent interview with the Catalympic hopeful. I don't know what a box shifter is. Is that a box shipper? The pose was labeled as a walking pose, but the expression certainly looked angry to me. You really nailed it with the winners box comment! 

    In the UK at least, a 'box shifter' is a name often given to a company that doesn't manufacture products, but instead buys products from other manufacturers and then sells them on to customers. Sometimes they will have their own box design which might give the impression that they manufactured the item. So they receive boxes, store them in huge warehouses, and send out boxes basically. They can be useful if a customer prefers to deal with one supplier rather than multiple suppliers. Sometimes they sell products cheaper because they get a discount from buying in bulk, also they can give a manufacturer access to many more potential customers, than the manufacturers own small website.

    Box-shifters also usually implies they just take the boxes in and send them out from a warehouse, no retail stores or additional services.

    It's strange with cats that even if you only put a sheet of paper on the floor, the cat will sit on it, as if it elevates them, even slightly, above the rest of the floor.

    That brings up another good question. Which types of "cats" are allowed to participate in the Catalympics? Are there separate competitions for different cat types? If not, I think the cheetahs are always going to win any distance running speed competition, without even "cheetahing". Richard would be at an unfair disadvantage.

    Yes, you are an Excellent Swimmer now. Wouldn't it be surprising to see a water sports competition at the Catalympics? Anything could happen I guess. You haven't received the official Catalympics Guide to Competitions yet. I'm anticipating the Curtain Climb, the Surface Sweep, and the Carpet Clawing, as I have seen mentioned in the Catalympics Training Guide, that I got a sneak peak at (as in that I authored).
    And to think that ALL of this started from a simple comment you made about moonlighting as a French onion seller because of your stripes. How did we get here? That's the fun of having not planning ahead and going with the flow.

    We don't want any competitors eating other competitors, at least during an event. It creates an awful mess, and a huge pile of paperwork, although it might make some of them run faster.

    How about the 'Not being seen' challenge, and the 'Ball of wool tangle'.

    The ball of wool tangle is fairly obvious, the 'not being seen challenge' involves contestants hiding under, inside, or behind succesively smaller objects.

    My friend's cat squeezes behind the TV in the entertainment center where nobody can reach her when they try to put her in a carrier to take her to the vet.

    Did anyone else notice this in the Steampunk Alley promos? Fits in well with all these deliveries. Wonder if he gets preferential rates?

    I didn't see that! The promos were so dark and hazy, I didn't spend much time looking at them. Good catch.

    I didn't see that! The promos were so dark and hazy, I didn't spend much time looking at them. Good catch.

    This fixation with Lola is a bit worrying. Like the work colleague of mine that lusted after one of the .Angel Interceptor. pilots ( from Captain Scarlet a Gerry Anderson Show ) it's doomed. In my colleague's case the object of his desire was made of wood and I doubt there would have been much future in it.

    I don't remember which one it was, though I'm sure he told me many times, this was years after the series was originally screened. I think there was a redhead one, and one with a French accent. At the time it was first screened I was more interested in Derek Meddings model work on the vehicles and sets than the puppets. For romantic interest at the time, it would have to have been Zoe Heriot in Dr Who, I thought she was the epitome of cute.( I would have been a young teen at the time and in the series  Zoe was supposed to be a young teen also).

    I'm just playing along, but doing so from my own individual perspective.  To be honest, I thought you were testing reader assertiveness with the box opening scene (with Stanley upside down and Richard looking the way he was).

    Regards the lack of air holes, of course I totally understand;  it's just pretend  ;-)

    The cutter upside down was not intentional. It was just an error, because I'm not very familiar with those tools. Thank goodness Other-Richard spoke up to clue me in. I appreciate that. I'm always willing ot learn something.
    I'm working on the next installment, but I don't have a lot of time, so it is going slowly. :(

But it you feel hampered by those constraints, just let them go. That's my advice. Just have fun. It your story is not what you turning out the way you wanted it to be, just start a new one or let it evolve into a new one. 

    I'm trying to remember how I became obsessed with rendering Richard Haseltine in strange circumstances. I think it actually started by just adding him (as a cat) to a different set of renders I was doing in support of a Daz employee, Jen, who was struggling at the time with some medical issues. Jack Tomalin was also in those renders, and another person Daz_Steve. Those images are earlier in the thread here. At one point, I was doing renders for weekly Daz+ contests, where each week users had to use a Daz+ product released that week. I started trying to make a continuing story out of those renders, instead of just making each one separate and unrelated. Somewhere along there, the stories became focused on Jack and Richard, but I honestly don't remember why. I suppose maybe I put them on one render and the story kept them in future episodes. Richard's clever and witty replies to my renders kept me enthused about rendering him. Now it is my greatest Daz fun to get him (virtually) into crazy situations and get him back out, only to get him into another one. 

    Replies here from you and the rest of readers often sent the stories off in crazy directions that would never have occurred to me. Like the French Onion Seller, and the Leopard typo. That did not come from my imagination, but from the lot of you, including Richard, and I thank you all for those unexpected swerves in the story line.

    if Lola anything like me, a nice comfortable station wagon would do just fine

    extra roomy luggage compartment at the back for lots of cats (and or dogs)

    with heated  leather seats maybe, a Mercedes if posh, centre console with places for drinks and snacks

    a tight speeding skateboard definitely not my style, though just just my opinion angel

    barbult, you deserve a rest, like you told me, you're not obliged to churn out renders to public demand.

    I am finding it hard trying to render images for my thread, already I'm cutting back on quality ( in my opinion ) to try and fit it in around other things I have in my life. I had hoped to have someone give me a quote for a Portmeirion environment, but the guy says the architecture is too complicated for him . I have started sketching out what it might look like in 3D, but I have limited time and skills. I started out from a map showing the paths and buildings, but sadly there is no scale on it. I was trying here to work out the elevations of the buildings and paths, because I haven't been able to find an elevation map.
