  • where's the DAZ 6 SDK? i only have 4.20+ in DIM. i thought it would be released along side the general release of DAZ 6?

Seems to work OK, I don't like the viewport shaders settings for texture and the controls in parameters have gone.

Are they gone for good ?

I see a "DS6 SDK BETA" in DIM but it doesn't seem to appear for everybody yet for some reason. Maybe they're adding it to accounts in batches? (It's listed as "manually added" in my product library)

Edit: someone mentioned that there's a free "Daz studio 6 SDK beta" product in the store. You likely need to purchase that.

I've noticed that if you add a spotlight into a scene in Daz 6 .. and then look through it like a camera .. everything is black and unlit .. in 4.24 if you looked through a spot light you would see the scene texture shaded scene (or Iray Preview scene)

You need to be able to see the scene when positioning the spotlight and looking through it like a camera to do so .. so not being able to see through it makes it nigh on impossible to position the spotlight correctly

So I'm guessing this is a bug

EDIT: If you go WINDOW > PREVIEW LIGHTS and set it to on .. you can now see through the spotlight .. I hope to God this isn't by design as I turn Preview Lights off immediately upon loading Daz .. Please be a bug .. I don't want Preview Lights on when I'm setting up a scene .. it's not needed

On node highlghting, mentoned n the video on the prevous page, see 6.25.2025.20308 https://docs.daz3d.com/public/software/dazstudio/6/change_log#6_25_2026_14722

DzPickTool derived view tools now delay processing of mouse over/move events for the purposes of drawing until 0.1 second (100 msec) after cursor movement stops/pauses

This increases viewport interaction performance by reducing the amount/duration of hit tests performed where the result is not used (cursor movement is too rapid) - especially in geometrically heavy and/or densely populated scenes
Delay duration may still require refinement to strike a balance between updates to visual feedback on geometry in the scene (highlighting) and responsiveness to cursor movements
Processing of pick (mouse press) events are not delayed - a hit test is performed immediately upon click

This wouldn't have any bearing on posing, however

Another DS6 (PB + GR) bug report:

When switch to the drawstyles of Wireframe, Hidden Line, Wire Shaded, Wire Texture Shaded, Depth.. by pressing the shortcuts: Ctrl + 3, Ctrl + 5, Ctrl + 6, Ctrl + 8, etc.  there's no change in Viewport untill I move the mouse cursor ~~

Edit: If choose the above drawstyles from DrawStyle Options menu in the upper right corner of Viewport just by just a single-click without moving mouse cursor, the issue can also be reproduced ~~

DS4 doesn't have this issue, i.e. Viewport instantly changes after pressing the shortcuts / choosing DrawStyle.

    Ticket has been filled...

Can't reproduce. I only ever use the dropdown menu in the viewport to switch drawstyles, but with that all views switched without anything other than clicking on the drawstyle in the menu. Takes a second or two to switch for some, but it's a scene with a G8F and M in a room with clothes, hair, props, furniture, everything very textured, assorted lights.

I'm using an Nvidia 4090 with latest NSD driver.

I'm not disbelieving you. I'm just saying that - at least with my RTX 5070 and the latest Studio driver - I'm NOT seeing it, so it's not a general bug affecting everyone regardless of equipment.

I don't see it either, Drawstyle switch happens on the keypress

    Some things I have noticed:
    My PC specs - i9-10900k, 64GB DDR4, RTX 3090 Ti FE 24 GB

Clearing many items (1000 or more) from the scene can cause 2026 to go "Not Responding"
Scrubbing the timeline with that many objects can cause 2026 to CTD and when it does scrub, if you scrub too fast then let go, the marker will jump back a few frames.
Switching from Texture view to Smooth to Iray theres a tremendous lag/wait 2026 goes unresponsive, then finally switches to the correct mode.
Selecting Iray, then selecting it again causes a huge lag.

DS 4.24.0.4 Handles these events like a champ.

    Example scene render is attached.

Unfortunately my very first experience with the new software made me go back to 4.24 instantly.

I just have one initial question (and as I'm still relatively new to Daz, it could be an easy to answer question): Why can't I set the viewport to 'Textured'?

When I do, I get the look below, and I went through all the viewport options, but can't get the 'old fashioned' viewport anymore.

I had more test ~~ It turns out to be a weird issue to me now... I usually press a shortcut key, e.g. Ctrl + 8 very quickly (in 0.1 ~ 0.3 second) and it always works in DS4.x.

If I do it in the same way in DS6, it doesn't work for some of the drawstyles. But if I press, for instance, Ctrl + 8 a bit slowly (hold 8 for 0.5 ~ 1 second...) in DS6, it works.

NM for now ~~ though I still don't know why...

    Thanks.

Apparently, it was only necessary to restart DS6 after the first failed attempt at using Auto-Fit. After trying a variety of pieces and only getting a strange message and garbage, I closed DS6. To verify what you pointed out, I reloaded it, checked that the plugin was functional, and tried again with the pieces that had failed. This time, the menu to select the legacy figure and clothing type did appear. I have custom clones, so that might be where the problem stems from. Autofit working now after restart.

Is the seconf image what you get, or is thatwhat it iis not giiving you? It has chnaged since DS 4, so it won't be an exact match.

The first image is what I get in Daz 6, the second is from the old version.

As I said, I went through all the viewport options, but couldn't see how to get the 'standard' textured view.

So are you gfetting any kind of textured effect, or just a silhouette? What GPU(s) do you have, and which is drawing DS (that is a driver setting, not something DS controls)?

    AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT

    Only get  silhouettes, or wireframe.

Again, newbie, so I'm really not sure about the drawing question

And now I'm having additional problems.

First, I can't seem to load a fresh Genesid 8 figure, I get an error about not finding it (for boty version 6 and 4.x).

Second, I just loaded a saved G8, and in Textured mode its totally invisible.

Could be just a glitch, I'll try again tomorrow, but I think I'll stick with 4.x for now, it does everything I want it to do (after I reinstall the G8 essentials to fix that problem)

Yes it would, because we use mouse movements over the viewport widget to pose, that's exactly what is shown in the video by @yonashald, if the processing of mouse movements is delayed that could cause the stutter.
