Has anybody tested this free software Autograph from Maxon:

    https://www.maxon.net/en/autograph

Maybe it can be used to edit or improve videos from AI.

It looks very interesting. I will take a look.
Remember that Blender can be used as a compositing program.

Yes, I know about Blender for compositing videos, but have not used it for videos yet.

This is on my to-do list.

I use it, but it is very basic

however it is free and has no size limitations, loads exr and HDR, no codec issues

every other software considers pro features

Interesting. What kind of compositing did you use it for that you consider it very basic?

    practically everything I do actually

but programs like Hitfilm, Da Vinci Resolve etc can do far more but not for free

    I like free

I am more curious if you know something I don't given your response

like fancy fades, depth maps for faking depth of field, faux 3D

I do this stuff in other ways for free, cannot do it in the Blender video editor

can I guess in the 3D view with geometry nodes and render it out but I use Carrara or MiDas AI in Automatic 1111 using 3D depth maps from Carrara, iray canvases etc

or Paralax in Unreal Engine or Twinmotion

I do use the limited colour balance hues and curves etc

but it doesn't do lookup tables (LUT) etc

    upscaling

    RIFE interpolation

    to name a few

Thank you all for sharing the tips and opinions about video editing programs.

I plan to go through all options available for free.

Anybody knows how to select and delete 1 frame from the video in DaVinci, Blender or Autograph?

What about LUXEA Pro Video Editor included in ACDSee Ultimate Pack 2026?
I am getting good offer from them, but do not know if it is something to consider.

one of the best video editors I used was CapCut

the only thing it didn't do at the time I used it, no idea now as haven't used it fir a couple years, was load image series as a video

    however

the fact one had to bypass ones antivirus amd windows security should have set of alarms

most things only ask if you trust the software and run snyway

I uninstalled it because of constant ongoing security flags from Microsoft

    I simply don't trust it

I use a lot of other opensource Chinese AI software and none of it brings up such warnings

I am not too quick to judge because PostgreSQL gave me as much trouble

I finally disabled enough Microsoft security flags that it runs and I finally have Smart Content in DAZ Studio

Octane Render 4 Carrara and iClone gave me similar issues

I probably am a bit more wary about CapCut only because it's Chinese

Don't like the sound of that to be honest, Wendy.  I've never had any instance where I've needed to disable something Daz Studio-related in order to prevent a virus!

    no Windows security hated PostgreSQL

    not DAZ Studio itself

    but Smart Content needs it

Update on Kimodo being able to use on 6GB systems
This is a great walk through on creating motionfiles for that you can use in your AI adventures later.

because I had this error, likely because I am installing it on an external drive

    Edge Copilot Ai help

    if python not found

    Adding Python to PATH

How to Add Python to PATH – Real Python
    https://realpython.com/add-python-to-path/
Adding Python to the PATH environment variable allows you to run Python scripts from any directory in your command line. This is essential for seamless execution of Python commands and scripts.

Adding Python to PATH on Windows

Locate the Python executable: Find the directory where your Python executable (python.exe) is located. This could be in C:\Python\ or in your AppData\ folder. For example:

    C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\Programs\Python
    Copy
Open System Properties: Open the Start menu, search for "Edit the system environment variables," and open it. In the System Properties window, go to the Advanced tab and click on "Environment Variables."

Edit the PATH variable: In the Environment Variables window, find the User variables section, and double-click on the Path entry. Click the "New" button and paste the path to your Python executable. Move this new entry to the top of the list using the "Move Up" button.

Verify: Open a new command prompt and type python to verify that it starts the Python interpreter.

added by me - click OK on everything to close

installed  but start kimodo I get

Viser client not built yet. Building now...
'npm' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
'npx' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.

NM, it's doing stuffyes patience is needed

    now stuck at

OSError: [WinError 193] %1 is not a valid Win32 application
Press any key to continue . . .

guess I better ask Copilot again blush

OSError: [WinError 193] %1 is not a valid Win32 application
The error message OSError: [WinError 193] %1 is not a valid Win32 application typically indicates that the operating system cannot find the specified executable file. This error can occur when trying to run a Python script (.py) directly without specifying the Python interpreter (python.exe) needed to execute it. The solution involves ensuring that the correct executable file is being run and that it is included in the system's PATH environment variable. If the executable file is not in the PATH, you can use the sys.executable attribute to specify the path to the executable binary of the Python interpreter. Additionally, setting the shell argument to True in the subprocess.call() method can help execute the command through the shell, which may resolve the issue.

surprise still figuring out this one

python is 64bit AFAIK is what I installed and works for other stuffs

    Python 3.10.8 (tags/v3.10.8:aaaf517, Oct 11 2022, 16:50:30) [MSC v.1933 64 bit (AMD64)] on win32

Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.

    >>>

    seems odd, is kimodo 32bit?

Interesting enough is that im running Kimodo in Docker and because it is a WebApp i am able to use it on my iPad and iPhone to create motion files that i can save to a network drive for later use.

Imagine if DAZ Studio was more tightly integrated with Nvidia Kimodo... one can dream. It would make a lot of sense and would rival Cascadeur's auto AI inbetweening. However, seeing how the gens come out has been pretty fun.

BTW if you use Cascadeur to create motion for your animations check ou this plugin version for Kimodo.

Tomorrow marks 21 days since I've been experimenting with using AI for animation; I'd been using it for comic art for a little while longer than that, as well as for helping me make 3D models from sketches and artwork for 3D printing and for animated game characters.

Yesterday I tried something a little different. I started with my character, "Moira", captain of Freya's Folly (Moira started out as one of my DAZ-format Webboid characters with 3D hair and clothing). I wanted to make a 3D print of her so I came up with this one:

I used that in Meshy to get a nice, clean little mesh:

Then moved that to Anycubic Next, where I'm limited to 8 colours of filament (without swapping spools during printing):

I kind of liked the 3D look of her in Meshy, so I took that preview and did a quick animation. I didn't take the time to tidy up the Meshy preview and I only made a quick, low-res test animation but I had a lot of fun doing it.

If pressing on the image doesn't launch the video, it's available here: https://sterdan.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Moira-3D-test.mp4

Nothing Earth-shattering, but a quick bit of fun, from 3D to 2D and back again...

Wow that turned out great. I like where you are going with Moira's story. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks very much! It was a quick bit of extra fun, I'm not 100% sure at this point if I'm going to keep on animating or go back to working on comic art, 3D printing and game programming, too many fun things to do. So far, the biggest problem is always deciding which fun thing to do.

The plus side of putting animation aside fora few months is that it'll probably be vastly improved even more...

This AI generated movie looks great, and interesting enough a lot of the models are similiar to those included in Daz store assets.

Thanks for the link, very impressive; I caught the first little bit but I'll be watching the whole thing.
