Britany's outfit is actually part of the Britany set, you'll find it in the Britany link. Her earrings are Allen art freebies. But, yes, it is amazing how good old models can look. However.. there's no reason they can't look brand new with the right shaders. Regards, Richard.

    It is not kitbashed.

The top is (though not easy to see from the product page https://www.daz3d.com/hongyu-s-cowgirl-3-for-genesis-2-female-s

The jewelry is apparently no longer in store, it is called "C-Elegance Jewelry" by Amaranth.

Edit: I tried searching, and apparently it was a freebi that was available for a few days, just around when I joined Daz.

I considered kitbash the hair, as Richard said, it is a weak part.

@felis: Thank you so much for taking the time to explain it to me!

It's always a pitty when PA's take products out of the store. With the hair I believe that the main problem is putting it side by side with a g9 hair, that makes it about as difficult as it can get for the artist...

I am very impressed by this artwork by Ildanach in the DAZ Gallery using Michael 6: https://www.daz3d.com/gallery#image=751101.

I really enjoy catching up on this thread when I pop into the forums. The renders are great! Genesis 2 still has so much to offer. smiley

The cinderella render is lovely and atmospheric mding! That dress looks really great. I know I have it, but I also know I've never tried it before...

That gallery entry with Michael 6 is insanely good! I now feel the need to try him in some proper renders.

I recently visited an old project - my first little music video from 2022.

Since I had a lot of renders to do and didn't have a graphics card, I opted to keep things simple. I went with Victoria 6 and Michael 6 in colored geoshells in a single setting, making good use of the Ultimate Couple Dances Poses set for V6 and M6 (so I didn't need to adjust the poses much). Every generation is still a lot of fun to use. They're all really nice in their own way.

Here's the video. Warning for flashing lights. (These were incomplete CPU renders, since I had little patience but also because I liked the grain for a more retro analog look).

@SapphireBlue: Wow, you have really done great with this music video - it looks fantastic and fits the lyrics and mood of the music very well - an impressive use of g2!

I am glad you said you want to give Michael a second chance - maybe you could let us know in this thread?

Many thanks for visiting, the kind words and especially for sharing one of your g2 works here!

  • Oh my. The M6 gallery entry. Just how? It's the sort of image I think of as being restricted to professional artists like (just to pick an amazing fantasy artist at random) Boris Vallejo.

@mding, I really like your Cinderella image, though in a way it opened an old 'wound' again - though calling it a wound rather overstates the situation. When I first used Poser/DS my wife & I had two young kids, lots of childcare costs and a barely affordable mortgage, so a lot had to be put aside for when we could (possibly) afford it. I kept a memory of unfinished images and necessary content for when I eventually returned to DS in 2019. The V3 MFD was one item that was on my mental list, and it had just gone. I was.. not bereft.. saddened (that's the word) that I now couldn't ever create the images I had wanted to create. Seeing the LaurieS texture and the V3 characters reminded me of this again. However, I now have a TriAx V3, which can do autofit and I can create sufficiently accurate autofit clones so I can probably get the G2F MFD to work. <insert mildly horrific image of me trying to dance with joy here>.

I always have trouble with cropping. I generally try to avoid cropping hair , tails, legs etc. Your image with the red dress crops the hair and bottom of the dress. I have to learn how to do this as effectively.

    @SapphireBlue, that's just   !!!! 'Mazing.

    Regards,

    Richard

@richardandtracy: Many thanks, Richard! No secrets with my cropping, I wanted the focus on the face and the dress, that was all blush

It is weard, that the MFD expansion packs for V3 and Sp3 are still available, but the MFD itself disappeard. As far as I understand, the generation 3 textures fit the g2 and V3 MFD version, and quite some are on sale at the outlet right now:

  • Im lost for what to say. The character doesn't look like a G2 character. Looks more like a G3F character, and the flying sparkles in the air do add to the image a lot. Really good. I have got to try to do things like this.

The engineer in me would like to know how to create a real version of the sword material. It must be both light and very hard. Hard, so as to keep the edge & light for such a slender wrist to hold the sword one handed.  Anyway, it's a material I wish I had available to me as an every day option when I design stuff.

    Regards,

    Richard

Many thanks, Richard! I also had the impression that the sword is too big, but as this is a render to showcase the outfit I decided not to scale it down. The sparks can be done also with some of Ron's brushes, but the product i mentioned makes it easier. Nitara is one of my top favorite g2f characters and currently can be bought at $0,99 in the outlet.

Ah, but the sword is either magic infused or made of non-earth metals. Hence the metal is lighter than normal and can be lifted by a non-muscular person!

That is so very true, what a great sword!

    Thank you mding and richardandtracyheart

Mding, the nitara render is very nicely done. You put the HDRI detailer and optical FX to great use!

Ever since this thread, I've been more likely to pick up G2 items that catch my eye. Definitely will have to do more renders. smiley

Many thanks @SapphireBlue, hope you will show us some more g2 artworks of yours!

Here is a more relaxed and quiet render: https://www.daz3d.com/candy-slims-jeans-for-genesis-2-female-s by WildDesigns with the sweater from https://www.daz3d.com/autumn-chill-for-genesis-2-female-s also by WildDesign with another texture pack available: https://www.daz3d.com/coldsnap-for-autumn-chill  by Jessaii and Raziel. Dear me. That cheap pen seems to turn up in surprising places. As with many of my freebies it is available on the forum - just not that easy to find due to the forum structure. My pens, accessories & office stuff are available in this thread and the cheap pen is on page 2. It's dreadful, the cheapest real version of that cheap pen you can get is now $4.21, delivered. Awful inflation, given the price I got mine for was $1.51 delivered..  I wish I had a pose transfer script available to get the hand poses over to G2F fairly easily, but I don't ...yet. I have started on the pose transfer script, however, either I have something wrong with my G2F or G8F base figures or I'm being a bit of a numpty or there is something odd about my G2F base figure..

Can I ask if anyone else has seen this:

Start with G2F in the default T pose with a straight leg, and bend the thigh 90 degrees forward. Then when looking from the front camera, sweep the thigh bend slider from 90 degrees forward to the limit of 35degrees behind. When you do it, does the foot initially sweep inwards as the leg becomes more vertical, and after the leg goes vertical, does it start to move outwards a little before the bend limit is reached?

If yes, this is weird behaviour and what I'm seeing is real. If no, I have something odd with my G2F base figure. Or, final option, I'm just an idiot who's seeing things. But as far as appears on my G2F base figure I need to add a side-side of 4.5 degrees towards the middle for a 90 degree bend forwards to the thigh and a 0.5 degree side-side towards the middle as the leg goes backwards. I'm also appearing to need to add a thigh twist and a foot or shin twist to get the foot in the same place as a G8F shin bend. This is a bit.. odd. I can remember thinking when I did the G2F to G8F pose transfer script that there seemed to be odd linkages in the limbs relative to G8F, but looking at the script I must have ignored them as being relatively small effect. However, I'd like to be a bit closer to the original pose this time.

    Regards,

    Richard

@richardandtracy: I tried both sides, but can't see any changes in the foot, also controlled the foot settings, everything looks normal. Using g2f base female. Maybe sb else can try?

  • It could be that I need to re-install G2F.

Just hopped back into the thread after some time away, it's so cool to see how much alive it is and what great renders everyone posted in the meantime! I used the 10 for a buck discount that we had a few days ago to buy some really nice older things with this thread in mind - because the renders here just go to show how great many of the older items work even today. Am hoping to get back to rendering a little myself in the near future. Again, lovely to see y'all's creativity here!

  • mdingmding Posts: 1,642

That would be great @tsroemi, as you already contributed two beautiful renders!

I missed that great offer, as I am broke, that did really hurt. But there will come other  sales of course in the future.
