There is a truly inspiring thread on this forum, the https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/8629/generation-3-aiko-and-hiro-appreciation-thread, where some very dedicated people celebrate two very old figures by continuously creating new renders with them. As I didn't find any, I would like to start a similar one about Genesis 2 for everybody interested, honoring the products and the potential from that generation.
Hopefully, I am not the only one who likes Genesis 2, so if you contribute a render, it would be nice, if you could add a link to the image in your gallery for our comments and likes or to provide us there with further information - but that is not a rule, just a suggestion, so the only "rule" would be: It's something you like about the Genesis 2 generation

What a cool idea, thanks @mding! And I can actually contribute something. It's in my gallery as well but I'll attach it anyway because I seem to remember that links to gallery images are not permanent anymore and will get broken sooner or later - I'm not quite sure about the background anymore. Anyways, here's a render I did with the Pierot set for Gen 2, and I just love how well the figure turned out, despite the age. Planning to do more in the future.

Haha, the first render was why I went and got that hair straight away when I saw it scrolling through the gallery, although it is old. You made it look so interesting in the pic. So thanks for the inspiration as well as the thread!

Back in the day I got EXTENSIVE use out of G1 and G2. I skipped G3 entirely and was very slow to adopt G8.
When I'm looking for things to use my monthly coupons on, I'm mostly like to filter by Genesis 2.

Just wanted to add that I don't mean G2 is better, or sth. similar, that would be personal taste, anyway. I have a lot of gen4, g1 ,g3, g8, g9 stuff and like them all. I still think it is nice to go back from time to time and remember or revisit those older assets.
Do you remember the https://www.daz3d.com/pre-workout-for-genesis-2-female-s outfit by Nikisatez? I am pretty sure this must have been one of the G2F top bestsellers in that time. To this day I think it is one of the best tracksuits available, I just love it:

Darius 6 is still my favourite dark-skinned Daz male. Most of the guys in this render are G3Ms, although Tyler HD for Michael 6, Neo for David 5, & Benjamin for Michael 5 make an appearance. The hard part was finding a geometry net, and I failed to find a high resolution basketball, but nowadays I could upscale it.
@xyer0: Not a huge variety considering POC characters for G2M, though, especially if you want a character with a less muscular physique. Luckily we have morph packs to help us create some more.
I imagine that render was very challenging - posing all those characters so close to each other and everybodys' eyes following the ball - impressive!
Well this is very good news for G2 of all kinds.
Keiko 6 is one of my favorites.
I was unable to do rendering during G2 days, as my PC baulked at V4, let alone G2 and all the added sophistication of the character. So, images I show will be new, and in all probability content will be obtained as a freebie or from the Outlet store. As a case in point: Lyonesse Maribel from the outlet store below. Her shaders converted to Iray very well with a material set I put together for V4. Apart from the fact the poses I have for G2 are pretty grim and I now need to do a G8F to G2F pose transfer script, I'm pretty happy with my first proper G2 render. Scene is Tango Alpha Country Ford UltraScenery.

@ChuckM: Nice use of colors - I perceive anime / manga / cartoon style characters as especially challenging and never even tried, but your render has IMO a very impressive calm and focused mood to it!

THis seems like a great idea! I can probably contribute something.
I thought I'd try another character, FWSA's Naida, and as I have not a lot of G2 stuff I took advantage of auto-fit between G8F stuff and G2. So from G8F, Linday wet hair and Hongyu swimsuit and Namtar3D's freebie underwater HDRI.
I'm impressed with the character. Less so with my posing and composition, but the image was more of a 'let's see what the character's like '. The mermaid scales need emphasising. Basically, it's a WIP, but getting there.

Seeing Aiko 6 is in the outlet right now, do you guys think I should get her for my G2 collection - is she essential? I do have Keiko already, and I don't usually do much anime/toon.

@tsroemi: Maybe a look at the product add-ons of Aiko 6 (at the bottom of the product page) could answer your question, as some characters require Aiko 6 (atm two of which are in the outlet store, too). If you think you might be interested in those I would spend that 1$.
@xyer0 inspired me to make a render with https://www.daz3d.com/tyler-hd-for-michael-6 by Raiya. I ended up with "The Good Doctor", also starring https://www.daz3d.com/kasper-for-lee-6 by Raiya, which I think is one of the more interesting male characters of the g2m era.

Keiko and Aiko represent different styles of anime figures, so IMO having both is useful. As A6 is more "realistic anime" she can blend well with regular characters too.

Enjoying the renders and hope to see more! I like using G2, especially Keiko and characters for her. Both V4 and G2 work great for illustration type renders. And G2 has some interesting outfits and creatures too. Another time, I might post some older renders, but I wanted to do something new and quickish for the thread with a few of the many G2 things I hadn't really tried out. This one has Marie for Monique 6, Flower Fairies outfit, a G2 hair and pose. I converted the skin with the 1-click PBR skin script, and the outfit with RSSY 3DL to Iray converter. Iray render, no postwork except for the watermark.

What a great idea. It inspired me to dig out The Girl 6 and see what I could do with her in Iray. The render should be OK for ths forums, but rather than post a render of a scantilly clad Girl 6 wearing the XBA01 scifi outfit from AlfuSeeD (now Aeon Soul) I thought I'd just give a link to my DA gallery for anyone who might be interested in seeing it (and not at the office).

@SapphireBlue: Many thanks for the render and mentioning the G2 products! The render looks beautiful, using a very nice pose - so much depth, warm colors and full of Fantasy! It shows there is still so much potential in those assets, it would be really a pitty to leave them unused!

@DustRider: Many thanks, epic Sci-fi renders, great lighting! Both outfits look very interesting. I never managed to get good results with Ysabeau 6 although I like the character - after seeing how well you presented her, I feel encouraged to try it again someday - thanks for that!
Considering Pin ups, while it is the decision of the forum moderators and not mine to be ok with them, I believe that the age of people interested in G2 should be rather high by now, but nevertheless I added a NSFW into the title, so nobody has to worry about his / her postings in this thread. But there's no rule, feel free to post DA links if you prefer, as long as we can get a look at your renders!
tsroemi Thank you very much! I loved your pierette render since I first saw in the Render your Buys thread I believe - it's beautiful and so elegant.
I hope you'll make more for this thread. I definitely want to use the opportunity to try out some of the very nice things we have in the G2 generation. It's terrible and probably too common that we get swept up by all the new shinies, and forget how lovely the older ones are too!

As for the NSFW tag - I don't know if that's necessary for this thread. It may scare off some members that might otherwise participate and post. Being on this thread isn't going to be any more NSFW than being anywhere else in the DAZ forums or of course, the store page! As long as posts follow TOS, there's no issue. And if they don't, they'd be removed anyway. The few things that might be questionable can just be linked to externally. My 2 cents.
