It's been a slow DAZ shopping month for me, with just a few odd older items and one FilaToon newer release. But I'm glad. I accidentally spied what was going out of my account last year towards DAZ purchases, and got a serious shock. Some shopping downtime is good... (Of course, soon enough DAZ may well have some wild sale and ruin my good intentions...)
Meanwhile, time to render some stuff!
Not sure what you're trying to say, but the Mad Doors and the Mad Grab Bag promotions have been seperate promotions listings, and while there have been new items in the grab bags, the appearance of the grab bag promotions themselves has been very irregular, like 2-3 days a week at best and definitely not every single day, while, from what I've seen, when the GB promos are on consecutive days there has been very little variation in the contents. Granted, the Mad Door selections have been far worse, as all I can say there is that what I've been seeing is a consistant 348 items available out of 7189 items listed every single day (own all the others), while the items listed on the default front Mad Doors page haven't seemed to change once since the promotion began, and the one and only only G8 item listed every single time I've looked has been the same Zeddicus expression pack (Reckless)... That said, there may be some minor variations in the truly ancient add-on texture sets for G2 and earlier generation product that I'm missing, and I do own such a large percentage of the catalog at this point that it's possible that they've dropped something new in that I already have to replace something they've taken out that I already have. Anyway, as it stands, I haven't found a single thing to buy in the Mad Doors category once since the Meh-ness began, and while I have picked up a number of items out of the grab bags, it's been a trickle compared to previous years.
Yeah, incredibly slow month and a sad situation for a promo that we once looked forward to for months. Indeed, if there's any indicator of how "exciting" this sale has been, it's that I haven't posted here in the meantime. Congratulations DAZ Marketing, I think you've finally killed it.
I'm enjoying March Madness-I like the fact I'm not dropping a good chunk of money everday. We've gotten two great character bundles since it started, and I like that.
I spend less overall and makes the more interesting products more worth buying. Example is today-I got 3Diva's Easy FilaToon product and added a couple of FeSoul's hairstyles that were featured today. Yesterday I only purchased one of the Mad Door items for $1.99 to keep the Gold Star going, in case I didn't spend today but I would be set for Thursday. I'm taking it one day at a time.
I finally did enough scrolling in the doorbusters to find some nice G8 & G3 hairs. I prefer the older type hair (transmapped). However, I am strongly considering holding off my buying until I see what St. Patrick's Day looks like.
The Door Prizes are not changing, you implied that the Grab Bags weren't either and I was pointing out that they were.
jingee
March Madness is going pretty well for me so far. I'm not upset with the "Door Prizes" at all. I've found something every day that I can use, especially at the $1.99 price. The Gold Star is pretty good as well- 50% of new items is a good startng point when I add tokens. Yes, I'm spending less than I did during the PA sale this past fall, but there are things that interest me each day in MM. Some of the new releases have been spot-on for me as well. DAZ caters to a wide customer base so yes, I expect some days to be a lot less interesting than others, but overall I'm pleased.
The one thing that's struck me this year is how repetitive the sale feels. Every day it's gold stars, door prizes, and PAs, same promos, same percentages, same prices. The only thing that really seems to change daily are the top-of-the-page new release specials, which are always the same 30% off but at least seem to rotate much more often.
Have been hoping to see some grab-bag sales or the return of the old "Daz+ for a Day" sales (perhaps even a "Premier for a Day"?) but no luck so far.
I feel the same, am very very bored ...
I really wish the expanded selection deal for Premier free bundles. didn't require a Newly Mad buy-in (and is probably for one day only), unlike last time this was done. I'm only mildly interested in any of the NMs & I would need to buy a second if I wanted to trigger other deals.
Others might like it better. Premier members who haven't used that coupon. Someone on the fence about buying in for a month might decide it tips the scale, and they'd be able to get another in early April without renewing.
Note: Of the bundles that were removed in the past, only Lycan & Niketa haven't returned as far as I can tell and there are some characters (Neanderthal, Snow Queen, etc.) that have never been eligible before.
These usually are offered during a different sale event. March Mehness was always like this for the last couple years.
Well, I looked at my orders. I did some purchasing for a modest sum of not even $30 in the first week of MM, but this was mostly scrambling to use my Daz+ coupons. I was happy enough with the purchases, but clearly not enough to go on the spending spree.
Since then? I got Joan HD bundle and an apocalyptic bike in LDs one day, so I used my DO coupon and paid about $8.
And that, aside a few $1.5 giftcards to keep my golden ticket going and weekly D+ freebies, was it. Oh wait, there might have been a $1.5 texture set in an LD a well.
My biggest problem are the buy-ins. With the huge price hike in the store, even at 50% off, the new releases have to be something I think I'll definitely need (instead of just "wow, this is so cool!"), and I actually put more items in the wishlist as "like but probably don't need". Then, even if I had second thoughts on the next day and maybe feel tempted, there's no benefit of buying a Still Mad as it doesn't give you any other discount.
I remember that last year I was spending much more time in the store, building bigger carts and spending much more daily, while this year, I check the store in the morning, see new releases that are too expensive but not enticing enough (sure, some nice products, but with the price, I can't justify getting them) and go. In anticipation of MM, I had some decent budget carved out and was preparing that I actually might overspend. With MM here, I'm getting more and more convinced that I'm not going to be extending my Daz+ beyond June when my old membership runs out as the message I'm getting for Daz is: you're too small of a fish for us to bother with you and you don't have enough money to shop here.
Pretty disappointing Thursday. I wasn't expecting a character bundle, but maybe at least something interesting. My tokens are good for a while longer so maybe I'll spend this weekend.
Oh, and when I look at SE Futuristic Hall 2 it strikes me as one of those monthly freebies, as just the standalone room. I even thought we were having another one today when I saw it in my promo email. I suspect it'll be one down the line.
the promo doesn't do it justice
it's actually quite an extensive set by looks, not that I need it
Yeah. When I look at the default promo picture it looks like a freebie, but then when looking further into it...there's a lot of stuff. Might not eventually become be a freebie after all. I can add it to my wishlist and act on an aggressive Wishlist sale. That is, if it's also on sale during that time. One can hope.
It lists two required products. I'm not sure how much of the new promos are new stuff, and how much are showing required stuff from other products.
There was a grab-bag sale Sat-Mon, items were $2.99 so + for a day style (up to ten each day, depending on membership, and new items were added each day).
Futuristic Hall 1 joins to the end of this, I expect it includes all the items shown in clay renders or in images of their own (which should at least match the items listed on the page, but you can check to see what has a .dsf file in the Data folder if you hop over to the readme).
I just clicked on Wendy's link to see the extensive set, and noticed that two other products were required. I mentioned that because I wasn't sure others had noticed. I wasn't interested enough in the set myself, to spend time thoroughly investigating what was included in this set vs. the other two. Your advice will help people who are interested in purchasing it.
Do I recall it correctly that the sale called for the purchase of a NEW product or even one of the freshly NEW products from the same day?
Yes, that sounds right.
All the items in the exhibition hall are Petipet products, probably rescaled - and it looks like i've already picked most of them up. Currently debating getting the fancy wrapper to display them in.
Ah yes I definitely didn't notice it. That really bums me out because it significantly raises the price of the entire product, which is too bad because I like the 1960s futuristic aesthetic. If this were put into a bundle and featured today at a good price, I would buy it. But not today, they'll all go into my Wishlist and probably remain there for a while.
And I guess not of those spacecraft on display in the large room are included either. That was the impressive promo, so I guess you'd need to buy a lot of stuff to create a great scene like that.
(This was nested too deep. I cut out some nested stuff.)
I was looking at the hall itself having multiple rooms and all the pictured props,

I assumed other models were displayed in it to show it's scope
as it was SE Futuristic Hall 2, I thought it was obvious there was a hall 1 and it shows them joined
the promo only shows one room
They're petipet products.
Project Pandora, Project Aircraft Hawk, Project Space Gate, Project Repair Module, and Project Cargo Platform Thor
Looking at the promo for the SE Futuristic Hall 2 shows two quite obvious things:
It seems (!) to use the SEFH 2 product (independedly from the promo) as - for example - an office building, I think (!) the other two products are optional.
I have spent less than $1 this month, buying the Snow Queen character bundle when it was $10+ with my $10 off DO code. Still no idea if I'll use the $10/$25 coupon.
I realized I've still got the bundle code, so I am trying to decide if I want one of the additions to the Premier bundle selection badly enough to buy a Newly Mad. Anyone have suggestions, or ones not to bother with? I'm primarily looking at the more exotic ones, like Norba, Gren, & Neanderthal. Also cobsidering Toshi.
Or should I stick with Plan A: Wait til St. Patrick's Day?
