I hear you (& your dad!) St. Patrick's Day was the highlight of MM2024, but not this year. "Disappointed but not surprised," is how my late dad would put it.
So glad my decision on the GC was to get one for just the tiny amount I already planned to spend the rest of MM & not tie up extra money I, like you, might need for something important later. Especially when I am not sure I will do much, if any, buying between end of March & fall/holiday sales. (Or even then, if Daz makes another, ahem, "major" change this October, instead of you know, just having a good "anniversary" event.
If reality collapses due to extensive shoe shops, I'm all for it. Everything will end is style. 8)

Well, seems that finally there was a decent GC sale and i missed it.
Guess that happens when sales are so bad in general i don't bother coming here that often any more.
Wallet is happy as i already spend my budget in other things but i'm not happy cause Zev0 store discounts are really good even without tokens and expensive buy ins.
At this point I just have my fingers crossed for the PA sale, as I anticipate the June sale will be a lot like the October one. December was good to me, but mostly because of the calendar freebies, and I don't have much left qualifying on my WL, so I'm not sure how much I'll care about it this year (assuming it's the same format).
I mean, ultimately I have enough in my library that I could keep going for a very long time on just what I have, so in that respect I feel petty for complaining. But it is a day brightener to get a new toy to play with, and I think the hype around the big sales generates extra let down when they fall flat. Especially because they tend to follow the same formula for weeks, so if that formula doesn't work for you, you're likely skunked until it ends.

the WL sale thing that slipped in yesterday and became live today is a bummer actually. 10% doesn't move the needle much on the price anymore. Even the token discount is pretty tame overall. I did take advantage of the grab bag deal yesterday though. Picked up 10 items for $30, all items that had interested me in the past and a couple I didn;t know existed that should help me with quite a few renders. Yea for a good day.
Yeah, I definitely wouldn't describe it as "24 hours of wishlist madness!" - the only reason I used it (if you can call it that) on a LD. Saved me 15(ish) cents.
I hope we get a new release from Petipet during this sale. Its been 9 months since the PT Modern Apartment and Props released last June, so his next 3D baby is due any day. I can feel it. I love everything he makes. His stuff always inspires my creativity.

I noticed that I'm buying less this March but I did grab this top.
Even took advantage of the gift card sale, and the money is sitting as store credit.
I had to laugh a little... I don't do sci-fi, and I don't do toon... and today is all sci-fi toon stuff.
Makes it easy, I guess! Though I'm sure the folk who are into it are pleased.

... it's kinda sad that we're in the middle of one of the headliner sales, and I'm honestly more curious/hopeful about the bi-weekly freebies releasing tomorrow. Most of it tends to be stuff I wouldn't use, but there's usually one or two things I might at some point...
I was even guessing yesterday that they were about due for another toon offering so while disappointed, I wasn't entirely surprised. There is clearly an enthusiastic contingent that buys it.
To be fair, there have been several bundles in recent times that I was excited about that I'm sure many - in the sci-fi/toon crowd and otherwise - were "meh" about.
Yeah, while toon stuff totally isn't my art form, I love that they're diversifying. More people should get to have the sort of fun I'm having. Also, a bigger customer base means (theoretically) more money for PA's, and a Daz that is less likely to go out of business, especially as economic conditions mean many people need to cut back their total amount of hobby-dollars spent.
I'm very happy I didn't wait for the toon stuff to enter the Premier free bundle selection. I grabbed one last Thursday. No purchase today, probably tomorrow with the DAZ+ items released although I haven't bought in the last 3 or so release days. I'm buying stuff in this MM but mostly older stuff for cheap and the required new release buy in, but onyl if its something needed, which is getting to be pretty rare.
Me too. I am even considering a positively ancient set of fantasy monsters because it seems cooler & more useful to me than a lot of the new stuff this month. I bet they will look good once converted to Iray. I have the RSSY converter so it won't take long.

Those monsters in the Fantasy Creature Bundle can look very good in Iray. The image below uses the contemporary Millennium Dragon and Pixies in an UltraScenery environment:
I'm sure a more competent person could do a better job, but I do feel it shows how much Iray can improve the older models.

Ohh dear, hope it works out for you. I think all I did was apply the Uber shader to all the Dragon materials & not a lot else. I have another dragon image with the venerable Millenium Dragon (attached). The character riding this time is not V3 based Glamorous Vicki 3 (as in the green dragon version above) but G8F MDD Lyra . On this occasion I may have done something to create a decent normal map. I have the freebie program 'Materialize' and often create height maps from the texture and then use that to create Normal Maps. They add a surprising amount to relatively closeup images of older models.

well DAZ managed to extract quite a bit of cash out of me today but unfortunately because it was 5 different carts I didn't get a single token, fell short by a dollar at least 3X
those 3 were all lightning deals and if only I had known could have tossed the first 2 carts in at least one if not half in 2 of them, but my crystal ball failed me
Seems I have the same make of crystal ball! ... How come I didn't take the advice I saw __someone__ on here give, which was "buy a $1 giftcard each day", which vastly improves the forsight of all crystal balls!
(So $89 order is 78% off... not that anyone pays full-price, but you know what I mean... would have been $80 and so 81% off

My gold star expires after today, so I'm buying the new hair from Neftis. Without tokens or coupons it sells for $3.99. That's only 60$ off but the hair looks pretty nice.
Does March Madness end today? The page for it has a big "FINAL DAY!" on it but I can't tell if it's supposed to be saying it's the last day you can try to get those annual memberships. It looks like it's saying it's the last day of March Madness altogether, but I thought this sale usually ran to the end of the month and then slightly into April???
It looks like that is referring to the 15 month for the price of 12 special, not the March Madness as a whole
Well, at least in the slider, it is on the section about the annual memberships offer so I am pretty sure it applies only to that.
