Good news ... Foundation3D seems to be working great atm so have verified and added some more links back onto the list :-)

I know you can (with various degrees of difficulty) import most formats into DS, but pretty much the things labeled CR2 there are "native"?

CR2 is an import format - handled by the DzPZ3Import plug-in, which handles all Poser formats (and OBJ, apparently).

But like rigging would come over?

Yes, as long as it's parametric (legacy) rigging, not P9+ weight-mapped.

TimG once did a fantastic render of Ptrope's awesom TOS bridge set up for Iray.  His was faithful to the original set.  I wanted to see how it would look with some surfaces changed to a more modern sensibility (stainless steel, painted metal, etc). I also changed some of the lighting.  With a few tweaks I think it looks pretty good even by todays standards.

Mattymanx rigged most of the .cr2 files in this section over at Foundation3D. Work in D/S3+. As with all files created before the latest editions of D/S, mat files may need to be updated so the program can read them.

Maybe I missed something but I have yet to import a .cr2 file. I simply click on the icon and they load just fine in D/S. It is "export" to CREATE them.

.cr2 files must be in the runtime > libraries > character > desired subfolder ... and are found in the "Content Library".

I made a transporter this morning. Have no idea atm how I'm going to texture it.

SGreco was kind enough to send me a copy since Foundation has yet to create a page for the model.

In these two renders we see both his new model and his earlier version. I tweaked the material settings to a personal preference, applying them to both.

While SGreco's older model is quite the valiant effort, we can see how he made it even more screen accurate by applying the subtle curve to the casing in his current model. Franz Joseph could not determine this detail from the limited resource materials when he composed the famed "StarFleet Technical Manual". That (understandable) oversight as well as others resulted in years of less than screen accurate props. Thankfully, sites like "HeroComm" have revealed gobs of information many never knew. For instance, the main "housing" of the flip lid communicator prop was based upon a ubiquitous plastic pencil case readily available at the time. Wah Chang cut apart one of these cases, removing a fair amount of its length and a bit of its width, and used the reassembled "corners" as a template for the final housing shape. When I I saw a picture of the pencil case he used, I recognized it as something I used during the second grade! Why I never saw the resemblance, I'll never know.

Anyway, if you're a TOS fan, I HIGHLY recommend this model!

    Sincerely,

    Bill

    Love the retro style

Well it's been a busy week but I haven't been building a whole lot, however I did do up a few more renders that were enough o assemble a few pages. This is from scene 9 in the first issue of the comic I'm working on. I'm pretty sure I really need to work on text sizing and word bubbles, but I figured I'd share what I've got and get some constructive criticism.

The set up for this is that my Captain has been having nightmares of a past event that never actually happened to her. Q shows up and taunts her with it, threatening her with actually sending her back to this alternate past to change events. Arcelyn wants answers and after conferring with her crew opts to try for some answers using the holodeck.

These look great, the only suggestion I would like to offer is on page three that you posted on the top panel the last word bubble change it to Beam weapon fore to aft hit. It would flow better and sounds more complete. Sorry if offering suggestions upsets you in advance, being Paul's proof reader for his books I tend to catch things like that.

Absolutely won't get mad. This is my first attempt making a comic after having written fanfiction for years, so I'm open to any and all ideas. :)

I like where you are going with this, it's flowing well but Page 3 frame 1 needs work.  Not to sound like the 'Word Bubble Stickler' but your word bubbles should never cover your characters like that.  I can only suggest, is open this up to a second page, have her walk around the room looking on with disdain at sections of the room while talking to the computer and then have the explostions on the following page, as a shocker effect.  Remember you're not being charged for printing pages.

    -Paul

Yeah I actually have dialogue I wrote that I cut down to fit even that. I realized while I was assembling it that it was crammed pack and trimmed here and there. Definitely going to have to render up a few more panels for this section of the comic. I like your idea of dropping that explosion on the next page as well. I'll have to give that a shot.

I'm also going to shrink my text size and word bubbles a bit. Maybe make them more circular instead of oval. They're awfully crammed in there. I was thinking about going for a specifc set number of pages, but I think that might get tossed in favor of just telling the story I want and not go with a page count. I'm not going to end up printing this.

Don't limit yourself to a set number of pages- That's the absolute worse thing you can do. because you end up cutting stuff out that you need and you end up with a collection of pages without a story. You're right. This won't be published. You take as many pages as you need to tell the story right- even if you have to break it down into 2 or more books. I had to do that. Nova Trek books 5,6 and 7 are all one story, but it was so big, I figured the best way for folks to handle it was to break it up.

Starts with this one. If you want to take a glance, you'll see what I mean:

One last note for all Graphic novels, comic stips or even a one shot image.

ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS use the same speech font size but for three execeptions.

    1) Distance shots  2)  Whispering  3)Emphasis (such as yelling or screaming)

the same font style and size need to be consistant through the whole strip. I'm gonna plug a reletively cheap program, I use Comic Life 3. The demo has everything available, it's not cripple ware.  Try it, don't like it, dump it.

To me, it's one of the simplest programs for balloons, it moves and restructures the text in the balloon so you don't have to worry about fitting. Also if you set the standard font size at the beginning, like in my case I use a font that came with it  Lint McCree Intl BB at Font size 8. Your whole process of balloons is a breeze!  And remember...

    -Tails point at mouths.

-Balloons should flow from top left to bottom right, there shouldn't be any zig zagging up to the next balloon...one downward fluid flow of text balloon to the next.

-Don't ever use use geek speek or foriegn/criptic languages unless you want to loose your audience.  ie.  AFAIK, TY, 'Kiirusta laps"** People don't like to look online or  down to see a translation for wording to continue reading a story or information.  Use <>  with a note in the bottom and be clear.

So that about does my soap box, I hope it helps.

** "Hurry up child"  in Estonian   (The language I chose to use for Orion Trade in all my Graphic Novels.)

Wow. Really love that look. Like that you threw in the TMP-VH bridge chairs as well. My favorite bridge chairs. :)

Here is a TOS Utility Jumpsuit texture for M4 Valiant.

I went with Valiant instead of the M4 bodysuit because Valiant has morphs that allow you to widen the sleeves and puff the tunic out over the beltline in a way that I thought looked good for this outfit.

I have been in a creative rut lately when it comes to renders, so I've been trying to model things. I've created a version of one of the chairs from TNG. I based it off actual props auctioned from the series, though it's not a 100% match. I will share it with anyone who wants it. I have it as a Daz Studio file and save it as an .obj.

The purple version is an IRAY example. The gray is a 3Delight example.

    A question if I may;

I'm trying to create a uniform texture based off the MFD so I can use it for V4 through V7 (when her version of it comes out).

Is there an equvilant outfit that I can use for males?

    Thanks

    No not exactly.

Genesis can be either gender though, and then from said creation there one can jump it over to G2, then from there to G3, I will say 'maybe'. Haven't actually done this myself but technically AFAIK it might work.

Sure, chairs are always a welcome addition. :-)
