Another update. The back console's in place. Just have one more model to make and this one'll be done.

Starting to look good too.  :)

What's the scale on that? If it's equal to two decks high, I'd put a level in there at the half-way point  with tables. Then folks could either sit  and look up at the stars, or sit on the main deck and look down at the stars.

Thank you. One more model to build and map.

The drawing is an attempt to create something a bit closer to what Andrew Probert had thought of when he figured the scale of the D. What he had in mind was that the rim represented a whole deck, which was reflected in the 6-foot miniature, which makes the full-size set about three feet tall in scale. When they decided to make a smaller model that could work for both distance-shots and close-ups, they changed the rim so that ten forward would actually fit in the revised scale.

  • Found the article that caught my attention on the scale issue.

Sounds like one of those situations where you have to take a bit of this and part of that and hope it looks right when you're done.

  • I've hit a snag. I found a sketchup model that I'd planned to use to make the windows, but I'm working with the free version, which means I can only export to a collada (.dae) file. And that doesn't seem to be importing to Blender or Poseray.

There used to be a website that had free plugins for sketchup and there was one for obj files there don't have the link but you might do a serch for it

Very nice. I just realized how spacious the Romulans like their bridges. :)

This is where I got the one I use. Just place the file in  Sketch-up's folder. Then, when you start the program, you should find the OBJexporter listed in the drop-down menu. But you'll have to save your model as a sketch-up file before you can export an obj.

The camera angle accounts for some of that, and the fact that the remianing consoles are not in place yet.

So who's the orange alien guy? What race is he and where can I find that morph?

Realized I hadn't posted any progress here on my little project. So we have a 'cast' photo, my security chief and ship's counselr on their way to greet the new first officer, said first officer getting into an argument in engineering with the alien chief engineer, our security chief testing the 'new' transporter unit, our flight navigator in his quarters before they get renovated so he's not sharing anymore, and finally our Captain leaving the holodeck with the ship's Andorian Operation officer and getting some unexpected Vulcan sass from the ship's doctor in the process.

These are all in the order I rendered them up. The holodeck one was post my Windows 10 upgrade this weekend. It took 4 hours to render but it's using the time much better than it was previously.  Almost no grain in the pic now. I did manage to do up the Republic in her right numbering and lettering but I don't have a proper render of it to share quite yet.

I rendered all but the bridge from my 'stage' set. I built up the corridors like I'd shown before and I'll share that, sans any of the rooms, once I get it cleaned up a bit. I'm saving the rooms as loadable objects later to cut the scene sizes down. The bridge and the observation lounge are all going to be on their own 'set'. I will end up having to not load engineering to load up my cargo bay, although I'm toying with letting it latch on to where I dropped the holodeck. The goal is to set it up to render multple shots while I'm at work since it takes so long to render in iray.

And yes, I am swapping out thos chairs in our Ensigns quarters for the other model. I compeletely blitzed on that when I was dropping them in before.

I am going to have to do up a Constitution hallway set up though to attach to the same quarters. I probably won't attach engineering though. I'll only need the quarters and hallways and maybe the torpedo bay, but I've been thinking about the big open crew lounge from TMP though as well. I'm thinking I might move that elsewhere though just so I don't have to do a massive edit.

It's a combination morph set. I had to load up the figure to see which ones they came with. You have the scalp crest morph from the creature creator bundle at full with HFS_Shapes_Cranium02 from that morph set dialed to about half. His hands are the HFS_Shapes_Hnds01 morph cranked up to full. Right now I'm tentatively calling him a Drelak. Totally new species. At least I hope it is anyway ;)

  • Hmmm. I think I have both of those sets. I'll have to play around with them and see if I cant duplicate it.

The Mirror Universe pin and dagger set has been uplaoded to ShareCG now in both the Poser and Studio sections for ease of finding for both Poser and Studio users. I am still hosting the original files on my DA account and Paul is hosting the Studio files for the pin on his. This is a combined file as well as the dagger into one easy to grab file. A special thanks go out to Paul for the promo image and to NVent3d for converting the pin to .duf for easier studio use.
