scatha has given me permission to share his command chair. I've combined it with my crew chair and the zip is available for download in my DA Gallery:

  • One of many current wip conversions for my comic.

I don't know why I just didn't do up a texture on this instead of dropping in the letters, or why I didn't just stop with the ship's numbers, but well, here's where we're at so far.

The base shuttle is the Weyland Type 4 by Madkoifish and converted by mattymanx. I'm not sure I'm going to put so much detailing into the mini version of the shuttle.

Maybe a smaller size type would fit between the stripes better. What you've got is okay, but it looks a little crowded.

Yeah I"m inclined to agree after taking a nap. I think I'll keep the Republic the same size, but shrink th shuttle name and numbering down a bit. I was comparing to the shuttlecraft from the Ent-D and the impulse engine housing numbering is a bit large too now that I'm actually seeing it again. Oi.

In some cases, getting the textures right is half the battle.

Okay, I need a little help from the other Poser users around here. I have an infite light showing through the stained glass window, But I'm getting white light on the floor. How do I get the window colors on the floor?

  • Ok, so ignore the washed out lighting a bit (this actually rendered up in about a half hour with iray instead of the 2 it used to, so maybe there's something to that environmental lighting dome on top of the Windows 10 upgrade) but I think I've got the text on the shuttle just right now.  It's readable, it's not squished, and it looks more like it belongs.

    At least I hope anyway.

Currently Poser doesn't reflect light through colored glass. It is something you have to either post work or fake with gel lights, but seeing that you want to use several colors, that might be more of a post work challenge than using gel lights. You might have to render the image with a gel light with each of the colors and then overlay them and simply erase the spots for the corisponding colors. If you like semd me a PM and I can go into greater detail if you like.

Okay, I tried Vue and it wouldn't import the stained glass color. So I was left with photoshop.

    Help!

I downloaded Mattymanx's conversion of Stephen May's Rom Warbird. I used the bumpmaps to make light maps- all I did was invert the colors. It worked with all the maps- except one. I don't understand why it's off. It's exactly the same size as the original Bump nap.

After modelling the chair for Madison, I decided to try my hand at a slightly larger project.

Posted a link, since image attachments are a pain in the arse on this board...

  • Nice. For which ship will it be?

Patience passing by ... we've been having a "heat wave" [and still in it] ... have made notes of the links and oh gee, DA just froze again ... will have to go kick-start that upload again and hopefully I'll be getting all those nify new links listed today.

edit; okay, links for MU pins, chairs and sets added - thanks all :-)

  • Ok, I'm either over-reaching and I should just settle and work out a shuttlebay based off the ones I've found out there that match the show more, or I can build the one I found that would be more functional but would set me back weeks instead of a few days of fine tuning.  So I decided to build a quick study model and I'd like opinions.

This is the combined Shuttlebay 2 and 3 from Ed Whitefire's unofficial Enterprise D blueprints. Yes, I know they aren't completely accurate to the show, but the shuttlebays in the show weren't accurate to the 6ft or 4ft Enterprise model anyway. Ed's blueprints however have a bit of that feel we get with the older Connie shuttlebay and even the films a bit. It feels more like a functional shuttlebay.

I honestly have no idea how much I'd use this. Well I do, and I'd use it even more if I built it cause, yeah and stuff.

Anyway, I took a couple of screenshots of the different views of the 'study' model and I guess I'm looking for constructive ideas or if I should just scrap this and not bother. Yes I'd angle the interior hull and doors to match the exterior of the ship. And yes, it is really large.
