Carrara Challenge # 65 - Turning Points - Voting Thread - Voting Closes Midnight March 5 Daz Utah Moutain Time
Entry Thread. Dictionary definition. A 'turning point' is a point at which a significant change occurs. Your challenge is to create an image, or one page of sequential images, or an animation inspired by the term 'turning point.' Any interpretation of 'turning point' is acceptable.
Minimum Requirements --- Use Carrara's render engine or a related plugin like Octane, Lux, etc. --- Postwork is welcome. Please post the original unpostworked render in the challenge work-in-progress (WIP) thread. Discussion encouraged. --- WIP Thread participation. Post at least one work in progress to this thread offering some insight to your creative process. Examples include post-work or a scene setup or a discussion of a technique you used.

Comments and Credits: Harnessing electricity was a turning point in human civilization. Harvesting electricity from lightning was a turning point for classic monster movies like Frankenstein. Genesis and Clothes avaiable in Daz Store, sky swapped using Carrara multipass background edited with lightning from web. Trees are a mixture of Dartanbeck's Woodlands set and some of my own creations.

Credits and Comments: A big turning point in my life was the creation and development of Carrara. Without that, I wouldn't be posting here, and also (likely) much less involved with 3D art. Thus the fantasy metaphor.
G8 Sagatto is Santa. The elves are G2 Smay characters. The beard is G3 Santa Beard. Some of the render background includes The Village Blacksmith, an old product (SKU 3999) that I had never used. Much to my surprise, it had normal maps!
Carrara has some great tools - Christmas tree - entirely Carrara, including plant editor and vertex editor - and the top ornament is the snowflke in the object library.
Santa bushy eyebrows and fur-trimmed hat - Carrara hair. Main scene lighting - Carrara lens flare. Sparks - Carrara particle generator.
No postwork

Credits and Comments: A small tribute to the Aussies who support Carrara.
Went old-school, with Freak 3 and V3 (+ G2F). Carrara sun and realistic sky. My Beach for the land and sea props. Santa Beard for G3 again, but a different hat (Santa Baby). And cutouts and a Carrara browser object. :)

Credits and Comments: This one sort of evolved. I got a $5 coupon from Daz, and decided to spend it on a spaceship model that I had resisted buying. It was the FMN-232. Even though it was a Carrara model, it didn't look very good in the promo, so I had managed to avoid it for 7 years. But it is actually a nice model.
I added the Mercury planet from Alberto, and the Astronaut native model from the Carrara object browser. Then came Nata, a clever Genesis female toonish figure from Smay.
The render is kind of an homage to Gary Larson (I've done one before).
The background is Dart's Starry Sky freebie map applied to a transparent sphere, and some doctored Carrara clouds that hopefully look a bit like distant nebulas. The Desert Sun lens flare setting is applied with mild secondary effects. Sparrowhawke's Edge Falloff shader and a teensy amount of Carrara fire in there as well.
No postwork.

Credits and Comments: models were modelled in Carrara along with the rubble hole, map and rocks and road sign.
Used Carrara text, a shadow catcher as well as a surface replicator for the stones.

Credits and Comments: the turning point in the game came when the teams best player Mr Bobble was bowled behind his legs by a cracking yorker..
modelled the scoreboard, cricket pads, helmet, gloves, bat and ball and morphing stumps.. converted Mr Bobble's soccer pitch to a cricket pitch.... like why wouldn't you smiley
and retextured Mr Bobbles clothes. The background is the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Credits and Comments - Domestication of the horse in Central Asia was a pretty big turning point in human society. Daz charger horse, Poser 7 male, Genghis Khan for P7 male from the defunct Content Paradise site. Daz bison. Daz eagle. Terrains, sky, grass, rope, replicators, etc made with Carrara.
