Because I requested it. You can be mad at me, not at Daz.
The banner is gone and the message has disappeared from 'My Messages'; BUT the extra disccounted price still shows up in my cart.
@ManFriday and everyone else who confirmed about the discount and banner! Appreciate it!
my mesh grabber bundle discount just disappeared as i was checking out. i noticed my total had jumped about 26.00 before i paypal'd, thank goodness.
reloading my cart didn't solve the problem.
hope this gets fixed soon.
Same Here. WTF?
Why have you done that? Was the banner a mistake?
However, I am low on money, and therefore, I will remove the bundle again, now that it has no purple banner discount anymore, and I will not buy the Morph Editor for the current price. Sorry, it's just too much.
Yes, mine is gone too!
OK was all excited because even tho the banner was gone, the discount was still there...BUT... now the discount is gone as well so not buying until we see what is going on, I assume another store hiccup...whatelse!!!
yeah, i'd appreciate some clarification, too.
when i started cart-wrangling thismorning, i thought it was odd that i had to buy the bundle to get the usual your-previous-support-is-appreciated discount on the editor add-on. that's not usually how the store handles things. but a purple banner is a purple banner, so...
but what i'm reading between the lines here is that manfriday wasn't into that discounting model. the purple banner was unauthorized? so he pulled the plug on it?
yeah, some clarification (and some courtesy) here would be nice.
Loyalty doesn't pay finally
I thought the discount on the mesh grabber bundle was to get early buyers on an even foot with new adopters who would get a bundle discount. If this is not the case and the discount is indeed done with, I will regretfully postpone my purchase till a later date. It is not essential and I am running low on funds, but the banner was appreciated as a sign of good-will.
I thought it odd there was a discount on buying the bundle for owners of the other two items. I would have expected 20%-30% extra off the new product for owning the other two. If anything at all. It was more like one of the offers Daz gives on their own bundles when we own a significant number of the items in the bundle.
It was generous offer, which I assumed was from ManFriday. It's disconcerting that Daz made such an offer that wasn't at the PA's request.
We don't know that it wasn't, just that it was removed on the PA's request.
Interesting, the discount isn't completely gone for me, just partially gone. I can buy the bundle and pay $9.95 more than if I get the Rotations and Morph Editor add-ons separately. Not much of a bundle deal for me. Now I just need to decide if I can afford both add-ons, just one , or none (unfortunately the budget is pretty tight right now).. I've been wanting the rotations add-on for a long time, not sure how much I'd use the Morph Editor add-on though.
Anyway, for me the bundle "discount" just makes no sense at all, since without the banner the current discount is a de-centive to buy, not an incentive for owners of Mesh Grabber.
Edit to add: Anyway, I'm not sure what advantage getting the bundle would be anyway, when you already have part of it, unless it saved you a little, or offered something that getting the individual pieces didn't give you (like getting a Pro bundle from DAZ gives the extra bits, where buying the individual parts won't). Mesh Grabber is soooo much easier to use than the dFormer tool, it is definitely worth the price, so I'm not griping about the price for the individual parts, just the bad logic for the bundle price, and the fact the the pandemic has really hurt my cash flow (more cash flowing out than flowing in).
We appreciate that people are unhappy that there was an extra discount and then there wasn't, but please keep your comments on the topic civil anyway.
I think it would help if you give some background on what happened.
While I can imagine more than a few scenarios where Your decision makes perfect sense, but for the moment I the customer in me now just feels bad about the product and is thus not likely to buy it anymore.
I may add, that the functionality of the product was not even totally clear to me, so i ONLY decided to put the bundle in the cart because I like the existing products I already own (rest of the bundle) and the description of the new product sounded somewhat useful. So in the end, You might have made more money by keeping the banner because now at least I (and probably other people as well) will only come back to that product when I really need it, which will not happen unless I (this time for real) understand what its good for. So please improve to the description to provide a clear and complete picture of the new products functionality.
Still, keep up the good work!
Best, the Dictator
opps ..... forum challenged today
The carousel on the sale page still shows a ton of items as being part of the "Select Genesis, Michael 4 and Victoria 4 Items" but aren't discounting. The "wrong" items are still on the sale page and haven't been removed.
True (not setup) story of what happend to me the minute before: After removing the bundle from the cart I added one fill item to get the 10% discount for two new items ... realized that there is also a resulting discount for PA items so I moved over to see if there is anything else I could use ...from all the stuff on my wish list the one that looked like I could really use is the "MF Content Bookmarks" plugin. Right in the cart the "MF" caught my attention ... and made me feel like today is not the day to buy that and I just hit "Remove from Wishlist". For a moment I actually still considered buying it, because I think I really need it. But then I felt I will never need it THAT much to compensate for the bad feeling I had when I had to figure out why my 35 item cart skyrocketet in price. Welcome to the first grade marketing course!
Sorry, but I just had to share this observation simply because it REALLY happend as described above and makes clear what the problem with todays events is. I might add that this not only affects the PA, but also DAZs aggressive marketing that builds the ground for those problems. Still, I can actually imagine that for PAs it is hard to set a reasonable base price given the usual discounts here. So it feels like we might be to some extent beating up the wrong guy.
Also, I give a damn about the few bucks this is actually about. The whole site builds on the idea that people THINK they make constant bargains here. So the addiction comes from the success in the hunt. Interrupting this experience is very dangerous for customer loyalty.
I am sorry that the discount for Mesh Grabber has been removed. I will take that into account when making further purchases from the vendor. I assumed it was because I already owned most of the bundle. So it made sense.
+1
Me too if there isn't any more definitive explanation of why it was removed
Elementary arithmetic shows that buyers of the bundle get the new add-on for free, so it wasn't even that great of a discount for people who had the other two products. The whole thing leaves a bad aftertaste.
The individual products in the Mesh Grabber bundles are the same base price, whether they are for Mac or Win. If you purchase the Mesh Grabber Morph Editor during the PC sale while additional discounts apply, you'll get 46% off, regardless of which platform the product is for. The addons won't work without the base product, so I would think the majority of Mac users would go ahead and get the bundle, but many Win users already have the base product, possibly the Rotations addon. They don't actually need the bundle, and the only reason for buying it was the extra discount from the purple banner.
I can't help but wonder how many people now bemoaning the loss of the discount would have purchased the Morph Editor immediately at the $13.36 price without so much as blinking, had the purple banner never existed.
I know I would have bought it without the discount. (Sorry, I didn't wait and checked out right away, before going to bed, at 2am Pacific time.)
True, even with combined discounts and the banner I ended up at ~$10 which is way less than 50% off for the item and thus actually below the threshold for PA discounts (which is 55% to 60% IMO) which is probably the first point where most people start recognizing the existence of a whishlist item again. With the discount I didnt bother thinking about it, but now I seriously start questioning the intelligence of the PA removing that banner. What a FAIL!
EDIT: The above is not correct because the base price ist 25 not 18, so the discount comes down to ~60%. Still, without that discount I would not have considered buying the item at all and even at that level, I actually would have not bought the item if I was aware of it. (The discount shown in my cart was way higher because it was calculated for the bundle, misleading me to think its a no-brain deal).
I can see that from a customer's perspective getting a brand new product for 59% off on the first day is exciting. This is what the Bundle discount amounted to with respect to the Morph Editor Add-On if you already had the two earlier products. I am a customer too and like buying at discounts. I can also see that seeing it and having it taken away again must be frustrating, and I'm sorry for that.
But please understand that from a software developer's perspective that did not look like such a great deal.
Mesh Grabber and the add-ons have been on sale again and again at great discounts. This one will be again too. But this is the first day, so let it have its normal run first please.
I'm disappointed as well that the meshgrabber bundle discount was given and then taken away.
Beeing a software developer too (I actualy directed sw-development at a large international enterprise), I totally understand this. The banner should never have been there. However, now that it was I think removing it was not a good idea because it turns customers away. The china is now broken however. I think there is very little You can do to fix it other than sit and wait. Bringing it back (or worse, a worse discount) at this point might actually only further cut your profits while not helping to get the customers back.
As I have no idea how business for PAs here really is I can only guess from my own behavour that the banner would still have sold you probably more volume than the regular price and probably to some peoply that would not have bought it until heavily discounted.
Still, as I am sometimes teaching marketing, I would really be interested how this turned out for you. Maybe I am all wrong. Thus, if You could PM me I would provide You with my identity for reference and keep any information strictly confidential. Its just that this feels like a text book example of marketing that went totally wrong and I am too curious to find out, how it turns it.
PS: Yes, I already realized that my above math was wrong (took the 18 as base brice) and the resulting discount was more than 50%, but still in the usual range.
I missed the discount and I think this is entirely understandable. I have no real insight into how Daz decides to do discounts, but I remember reading somewhere from a PA that the majority of their sales on any product tend to happen immediately after release. I don't know if that's the case across the board, but I would really hate to have made all my income planning estimates based on a predictable intro discount price and get surprised.
Well, as for now the bundle left my cart. I will wait. Or never buy. Have two parts already, might never need the third, who knows. Whatever. It's one of the would-have-been-nice-to-have-but-not-really-needed. I'm not mad at anybody at the moment. Just scratching my head about an obviously bad marketing decision.
Edit: I'm not a native English speaker, so it took me some time to find the word for the thing I'm missing in this store: reliability.
For some time a glitching store with unreliable sales might be fun, kind of a game. But there comes a moment when it's just too much.
I saw the mesh grabber discount before work this morning. I was excited and I thought, as soon as I get home, I'm jumping on that. Well, it's gone. So I will put it in the wish list and when It reaches THAT discounted price or lower, I will buy the MG morph.
