This error of the banner - no banner shouldn't be at the expense of either the purchaser or the PA .. Daz should be honoring the discount and reimbursing the PA as they are the ones who have made the error as ManFriday did say he didn't authorize the discount for them to post.

  • I was actually in the process of checking out and got interrupted before completing.  So I refreshed my cart, only to have it triple in price.   The editor wasn't free for me, just cheaper than $17.  I was buying a bunch of extra stuff, too, but in the end deleted everything but 2 items.  It's unfortunate because all this is going cost other PAs sales, too. Oh, well, saved me some money...

What I don't understand is why the purple banner only discounted the entire bundle and not just the one new item.  As it was, I put the whole bundle in my cart this morning since that was what was being advertised and fortuitously caught the fact that the bundle was no longer being discounted as I was reviewing the order... and if I hadn't caught it, DAZ would have apparently been quite happy to charge me a second time for products I already own, given that they didn't have the courtesy to send a second message informing anyone of the change.

Mesh Grabber and the add-ons have been on sale again and again at great discounts. This one will be again too. But this is the first day, so let it have its normal run first please.

A normal run is probably out of the question at this point - I'd guess that many customers will have been put off by this mess. I can only speak for myself, but I won't be buying it today (or anytime soon). It's not really about the money - $5 wouldn't make or break or it if I needed the product for an immediate purpose. But I don't, and now it's going need to hit a very low price before I'll even consider purchasing it due to the bad taste of this sales blunder.

the bundle discount did take a pretty big bite out of the final price of the product...a good bit more than the standard loyalty discount we generally see from PAs who offer such things.  i don't blame manfriday for deciding that the price point was too low for the work he'd put into the product--if the banner discount wasn't something he'd suggested or approved in the first place, and seeing it had come as a total shock to him.

if the add-on had been released without any kind of discount offer, some people would've been a little disappointed and maybe a few people would've been upset.  but the reaction would've been nothing like this.  as richard says, people are wrought up because they've had something they were promised taken away from them.  something like that can be upsetting to people who're working on a budget, and take a couple of hours to put their cart together.

and the mistake was a mistake, and the furor is a furor.  and the upshot of it all is manfriday's product launch hasn't been the happy day he should have had, and probably someplace beyond the opacity zone, someone at daz is hearing some major please don't do that again.

but hey.  there's always another sale!

I can see that from a customer's perspective getting a brand new product for 59% off on the first day is exciting. This is what the Bundle discount amounted to with respect to the Morph Editor Add-On if you already had the two earlier products. I am a customer too and like buying at discounts. I can also see that seeing it and having it taken away again must be frustrating, and I'm sorry for that.

But please understand that from a software developer's perspective that did not look like such a great deal.

@ManFriday - I'm sorry you were placed in this situtation - it sounds like this was a giant mess that never should have happened. The whole Mesh Grabber concept is amazing, and while I only own a few of your products, I've been very impressed by the quality of your work. I'm also deeply appreciative of the fact that you tend to create products that fill gaps in Daz's existing programming. Please keep up the great work - we love you!

I saw that banner late last night (TBH very early this morning) and it didn't smell right - the options gave me just the Morph Editor at something over $13 or the entire bundle at about $9.60 made no sense. I could understand an additional 10% to 20% on the Morph Editor for those of us with both other MG products, but not on the bundle. Just about to check out, and looking forward to playing with it this evening.

Thank you all for the kind words.

Also, can I just say that there was no evil conspiracy at work, Daz have a ton of products to take care of every day, and occasionally something goes wrong. It's as simple as that. So, I'm sorry for the confusion, but there's always another sale. :-)

Disagree. A better price for customers who bought previous products isn't an outlandish concept - Daz themselves do it for Pro bundles. And this offer was a purple banner, working as advertised 5+ hours after turnover. I don't think we had reason to suspect it was an obvious error.

Also bear in mind that people who hadn't already purchased two of the three bundled products didn't get that price - so comparing the cost of Morph Editor to the purple banner price of "the entire bundle" doesn't really provide useful insight.

+1 from me. I definitely love your work and will continue to support you by purchasing as I'm able.

  • Well I saw the banner for the bundle same as many in the wee hours,  but after reading here I was happy to put the two individual add ons in my cart and it still added up to much less than the bundle currently is going for. Happy to support one of my favorite PA's and get new toys to play with!

I'm going to lay much of the blame here on Daz's approach to bundles, which often proves particularly frustrating when bundles are created after some or all of the contents have been out for some time.

I absolutely concede that the percentage I was offered off the bundle was unreasonably good... but when it comes to a bundle where a customer has already purchased most of the assets, no discount at all means customers are now placed in the position where they're being penalised for previous sales loyalty - and will be in the position where their account will indefinitely mark the bundle as unpurchased, despite their having purchased all of the products within.

I do appreciate the concerns regarding how much of a product's sales are in the initial rush, but that's still a frustrating situation to end up in.

Here's my situation.  I use MG exclusively to fix hair and clothing fits and movements.  That's pose-dependent.  There's no point in saving those morphs.  I don't have a need for the Morph Editor.

When I saw the bundle after discount cost less than the Morph Editor, I put the bundle in my cart because it came to USD 8-something, because why not.  With the discount gone, it's USD 13-something.  For something I don't need.  So I'll pass.

I am sorry that the discount for Mesh Grabber has been removed. I will take that into account when making further purchases from the vendor. I assumed it was because I already owned most of the bundle. So it made sense.

Agreed. I own all but the new release.  And stated above, I haven't explored saving morphs, so the only reason for the purchase was to support the PA (with a slim possibility of finding the time to learn it.)  Now it is money saved.

Same here. And the whole thing put a bad taste in my mouth so I will never get it unless it goes down again to that 8 dollar mark and probably not even then. I think the PA lost more money from changing the price than if he left it alone.

Plat for a day is still messed up. I have Five items in my cart & the total is $80!!!

Are they actually in the list for today?

Yes, of course. That's how I found them in the first place. The only one I was really excited to see was "Nature Broken Trees Pack 1". Price is still not right.

It looks like it was just added a day earlier on accident. It's in today's PC+ for a Day category: https://www.daz3d.com/nature-broken-trees-pack-1

The Morph Editor add-on for Mesh Grabber is here for Windows, at last! Thank you DAZ for a proper discount for previous owners this time! An extra 75% off the bundle for already owning the other two pieces effectively brings release day pricing for the Morph Editor add-on to $8.69 (nice) with another new item in the cart.

And there are all of the there-and-gone items from yesterday in today's PFAD. I wondered if that was what had happened.

So last night I had a purple banner giving me 75% off the Mesh Grabber Editor because I owned the first 2, today that banner is gone and its not in my messages,  is this an error or has anyone else experienced this?  Is the discount applied automatically and you don't need the banner?  More questions on how things work here.....

Came here to find this out too. Last night it discounted to just over $9, today as I was ready to purchase it had shot up to $45+. Yeah nah. Dumped it and added just the new addon, feeling a lot cheated.

Edit: when I came to pay for my cart I took a hard look at the new addon and ditched it too. I’ve already paid more for the base and first addon than what the bundle costs and I’m not paying anymore...last night I would have, today I’m too angry to.

I think the vendor is brave to venture here and at acknowledge they know there's folks not feeling good about this. Kudos!  I don't recall having a banner pulled by the vendor before- has there been?

I'm actually more annoyed by the wrong items in the Daily Special showing all day in the carrousel on the sale page and not on the items page, and that being corrected without a word from DAZ. Maybe those multi-generation items shouldn't have shown up in this offer, but it would have been nice if it had been corrected earlier after people were asking about it almost since the sale changed over.

But it's okay in the end, there's always another sale - or the realisation that you don't really need this thing in your wishlist after all.

That's why I'm not all that upset (for once) over this whole Mesh Grabber debacle.

I have a lorry load of "productivity tools" for Daz that sounded useful that I either never used or couldn't figure out how to use. I would have picked it up because it seemed useful (I guess, because I'm not clear on what it does) and the price was right.

The vendor pulling the deal soured the product for me & made me realise I probably didn't need it anyway.

    $9 back in my pocket

Glad to know I'm not the only one who faces that. With me, it's so constant my middle name should be DUH.  I have a lot of utility-type products that I haven't even had the courage to try out yet. I figure if I wait long enough, there will be oodles of forum posts showing up on the product page thanks to the deals plug-in, and I can just surf and see what got explained.  devil
