It is hard to use a computer outside because the screen is hard to see.  It is hard to see if a render is all black or just dark when there is a lot of glare on the monitor of the notebook.

It is so much fun to set up a scene and then press render to find the render comes out all black.

I don't like the big train station in Washington, D.C.  Signage is poor.  I couldn't find the ticket counter to buy a train ticket nor the entrance to the subway station.  Apparently the renovations on fixed the outside of the building and the food court.  I couldn't find the other platforms for trains that go southbound.  Lighting in the waiting room is a bit dark too.  Fix the train section now!  No more shops and restaurants.  I'm going to take the train out of a smaller station next time if I can.

Sorry you had a bad experience.  I lived in Washington, DC for many years and believe me, Union Station is a LOT better than it used to be back in the '80s.  It was a half closed, trashed, leaky, disgustingly dirty, dangerous building before the refurbishment.surprise  Finding a train was a nightmare of circuitous, temporary, narrow, plywood lined, passageways around the fallen roof segments and dirty pools of slimy water/sludge.  Nobody in their right mind would take a train from there. (I know because I was not in my right mind a couple of times).sad  Now it's all put back together.  Marble polished, ceiling gold leafed, clean & safe.  Plenty of parking for cars and buses in the huge parking garage on the back side of the building.  Interior shopping malls are spacious and elegant. Connection to the Metro is conveniently located with not one, but two entrances, one at the west end of each of the two shopping halls right where the Metro logos are.  Ticketing booths and waiting area are right there on the ground floor of the north side of the smaller shopping hall.  I took the train to Grand Central Station in NYC several times, and from the look of the local stations along the way I would be afraid I'd catch some disease if I touched anything at one of them.  American trains are dismal, but Union Station in Washington DC, and Grand Central in NYC are gems among coal.  You can even fly into either National(Reagan) airport or Dulles airport, take the Metro and arrive at Union Station, to hop the train to the limited places that trains go in the US.  But I agree, the principle connectivity at Union Station is geared for Washington/Philadelphia/NYC/Boston traffic.

HOWEVER, I left Washington in 2002 so a lot may have happened in the last 17 years.indecision

As long as my mind is remembering train stations.  The long defunct local Erie Railroad train station here in my local city (Jamestown, NY) has been completely refurbished and now serves as the National Comedy Center, due to efforts by the Lucille Ball children (Jamestown, NY was Lucille Ball's hometown).   It's been open for a year.  They built a big new building next to the old train station, refurbished the old train station, and connected the two buildings with a glass corridor.  Lots of videos, books, old scripts, memorablia most of which are in the old train station portion.  The new section has a 3D "hologram" theater where one can sit and enjoy taped famous stand-up comedians shows in "Holographic" 3D.  There's also another stage for live performances by famous and not-so-famous comedians.  The basement of the train station is where they keep all the "blue" comedy exhibits (kids not permitted).  Lots of  recordings & memorablia of George Carlin and other adult level comedy.  It's worth an hour or so of your time to visit if you're ever this far out in the boonies.  https://comedycenter.org/

Jamestown is also the location of the annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival in August. (links in the ComedyCenter website)

You made four posts on this page alone, and that's ony since mid afternoon today!  And this has not been one of your busiest posting days.  4 x 365 = 1460  Didn't check how many on the previous page from today.

Plus, I don't think this forum counts all of the posts you've made since 2008.  There was different software in use, then wasn't there?

    Dana

Edit: OK, I just checked the previous page, you made five posts there today, so that's a total of nine posts today.  If that is an average, that would be 3,285 posts in a year.  So yeah, it's believable.

Non-complaint:  Finally, another bright, warm, sunny day after a week of clouds, fog and rain.  Kitchen windowsill prism and radiometer are in full service.  Wheeee...  And it's Memorial Day weekend.  Monday will be the annual parade in this tiny town.  Wheee..., firetrucks, bicycles, horses, town officials waving out of car windows, kindergarden classes on haywagons, yes and even antique cars from the... '70s...? frown  I'm sorry, but for me a car isn't antique unless it's black, has horsehair stuffing in the seats, and a crank.cheeky

I wonder if Union Station took down the old signs that were in the main hall but didn't put new ones up.  The information booth and cafe in the main hall are gone.

Normally I buy tickets at either Baltimore Penn Station or Alexandria Virginia.  I might try New Carrolton, MD.

I cancelled my trip to Manassas because I couldn't get enough sleep.  Too many motorcycles driving on the interstate highway after midnight.  Also my neighbor decided to mow his lawn early in the morning.  I should go take a nap.

This is one I did several years ago.   It was supposed to be an entry for a shakesperian challenge  and the Title is   "But, soft! What light through yonder window break"    but the image got invaded  by a cat,

How naughty would it be to recreate (loosely) a favourite DAZ environment for your own personal use in another medium? I wouldn't upload it for other people to use, but it would be in my screenshots, etc. I'm not talking about converting item meshes, just immitating a layout, like the shape of a couple of walls, and placement of a pool.

Now?... How did they manage to make it worse?

    Naa... I’m kidding.

    Actually I’m not...

    Maybe I am...

I haven’t had yahoo in years... my wife still has our really old yahoo account for junk mail... every now and then I have to go there and it just leads to a lot of cursing... but most things end in a lot of cursing with me.

In another medium?... like 3D only, or could it be a physical model... like Akio 6 made out of silicon and assorted elastomers, or Stonemason’s Urban Sprawl made out of chocolate pudding?

    Mmmmmm urban pudding....

Non-complaint:  I made a special trip uptown to do the shopping at JC Penney for the cargo shorts I wanted to buy that I forgot to buy on Tuesday.  I actually got a better deal today because of the Memorial Day sales. yes  I got two pair of cargo shorts that list for $44 each.  But with 50% sale discounts and points accumulated on my JC Penny credit card I got one pair for $17 and the other for $15.  Cool! smiley  I always pay off my credit cards within the month so I never have to worry about interest.  I looked up the interest rate (just for a laugh) on my Sears and JC Penny cards and its something like 28%  ROFLlaugh  But not funny if you get caught behind on your payments. crying  What a scam!  However, the accumulation of points is worth it if you keep your card paid off.  When I bought my TV 5 years ago it was something like $500 but they gave me $100 in points that got used on other necessities.  Periodically they add little amounts to my points credit as incentives to get me to come into the store or buy on-line.  So when I finally really need something (like pants or shirts) I do and those points make my day just a little brighter.  Doubly nice when I get there while they're having a big sale.smiley  Makes me wonder how they stay in business.  (Oh... that's right... Sears didn't.devil)

Complaint: My left big toe is acting up again.  My nail grows sideways and digs into my toe.frown  It makes my toe tingle and feel like it's perpetually sticking through a hole in my sock.  Time to try to dig/cut it out again.sad

Non-complaint:  Since I made a trip uptown on a friday I treated myself to a big fried fish and french fries lunch at the Texas Hots restaurant.  Mmmm... yum.  Grease! blush

Non-complaint:  After lunch I did my shopping at JC Penny then stopped at a Dairy Queen type place, and had a chocolate sundae Mmmm... yum... Chocolate.heart  Then took a trip up one half of the lake, across the Interstate bridge across the middle, and down the other side of the lake.  Haven't done that since it was frozen over, months ago.  Nice little mini-adventure.

Non-complaint:  Next week should be a fun mini-adventure.  I'm going to drive to the Rochester, NY area (about 143 miles away) for a gem and mineral show.  Just looking to see if there's anything that I can afford that I can't live without.  Ooh,... shiney things!yes  Plus driving through that part of NY State is beautiful.  Rolling hills, mostly local, non-Interstate roads, fields & farms, small towns.smiley
