Buying Bridget againlaugh, there's the real March Madness! Seriously, tired of all the Bridgets and having to blah blah to get blah and blah. These sales are even more boring than last year's sales, and they were BADlaugh. Haven't bought a single item this month and I doubt I will. Seriously, DAZ, if yuo want my money, this is not how you get themcool

But don't forget they use CloudFlare to mirror the site on servers all over the world, and it takes time for the changes to propogate over all the serviers. It is unusual for the updates to still be in process an hour after Daz Midnight, but it can happen.

I think the delay's been getting longer. At the start of the CloudFlare business a few years ago, I remember having to wait usually no more than 15-20 minutes for the midnight update to go through and the last of the Dread Black Swirlies™ to resolve. For about the last year, "hour or more" delays have gradually cropped up more and more often.

Bridget was the first bundle I had bought in a while, I bought her early, and I got burned on it and the fact that she is still the key to opening deals that I can't get without buying her again (or refunding her and buying her again)... is typical of how the DAZ store operates lately. Related New and Still New items start at $9.95... this is another March Madness that compared to the ones of a few years ago, the madness is getting excited about a sale that isn't that great.

I've spent under $140 this March Madness so far - and unless things get way more interesting - that is unlikely to change and likely to shrink in the future. DAZ has definetely gotten less generous and more expensive with the arrival of Genesis 8 - with less discounts, and way less focus on severe discounts of older generations - than used to exist. Glad I got the bulk of my library when I did.

I had to search the forum for this post too - because I notice there is no longer a "there is always another sale," thread.

    My guess is that

"Now there is ALWAYS a sale, but it is never as exciting as anticipating the next REAL sale used to be When Sales Meant Something,"

Is a little awkward and clumsy for a post title.

Still there, though asleep. I'm sure it'll revive come April.

This is the first time in six years I have mostly sat out of the March Madness sale. It has been fluctuating, penalizing people who bought early, things disappearing after a day while others stay for several days...the list goes on. When something is this frustrating and mind boggling to wade through, my mind prefers to boggle somewhere else and do something more enjoyable. Shopping during this sale is anything BUT enjoyable.   I have better things to do than try to calculate over and over again whether I got the best deal, or how to work around the ever-changing offers which make me question if I should have bought when I did. That's a ludicrous marketing tactic- create a sale where impulse buying gets squashed because smart shoppers are questioning whether they should.

Whenever Daz Mods create an event sale specific thread, the "universal" sales thread gets all but ignored, and slides into forum purgatory, (i.e. off the first page and beyond.) It can help to click on the star in the listing or at the top of the page, and then use the forum menu to look through "My Bookmarks."

Things definitely aren't as exciting since Daz got the glitches under control. Better for the PAs, I think, but it's been a long time since a gltich got my adrenaline pumping, that's for sure.

  • I don't even check the sales page any more... I just come to this topic to see how people feel about what's on offer for the day!  Haven't bought anything since the one flash sale I managed to catch, I think it was first couple of days.  I did look at the St. Patrick's Day set, but it's only on sale if you bought something new... and I'm not buying, new or other.  My wishlist doesn't care how it grows, wild and untended :-)

Yes, I've notice that, too. I think Daz was an early adopter of CloudFlare, and as they've taken on more clients, the service isn't as snappy as it used to be. But that's merely an eductated guess, ("educated" because I used to work for an internet service provider years ago.)

does buying the Bonus Buyer item count as buying a new item? If so, you're always good to purchase the next one.

    +1000 !!!

Last weekend I had to go to a great deal of trouble to repurchase Bridget 8 Pro in order to get a better deal than I got purchasing it on the first day. Now this weekend I find that if I had waited yet another week I could have an even better deal and gotten an extra 40% off both Tasha 8 Pro and Nix 8 Pro. That certainly doesn't make me want to purchase the next Pro Bundle when it is first released.

Yes. As long as it's also a new item. There was only one day where Daz put up older products for the 70% off. So far.

Oh, yes, I loved the Platinummy sales, a worthy successor to the PC+ For a Day sale we had back in November. For the whole MM so far, I have gotten 10 paid items, spending under $50. Most of those paid items were my wishlisted items that went on Platinummy or Mad Artist sales. The only freebies I picked up were Daz biweekly & PC+ montly/weekly, not MM. Even if I'd had the budget--I still don't--I wasn't interested in most of the New/Still/Key/Whatever items, & certainly not in playing Cart Games, to go for the MM freebies.

...the trouble with that is the refund doesn't go back to your bank account but becomes Daz credit.  When you are on a fixed income like I am, that is not a good option.

Store Credit is the default, however, you can request the refund go back to the payment source.

Thank you for telling me that. A while ago I got overcharged by £25. The money went into store credit and I took about a month to spend it. If that ever happens again I will ask for the money to go back to my Paypal account.

  • The Bridget sale will probably finish any day now as we are due for a new DA Pro Bundle character any day now going by the way they have been releasing them this year every two weeks roughly

Bridget 8 was released on March 5th, and should lose her intro discount at 11:59pm, March 18th. I wouldn't be surprised to see another new figure on March 19th. Though with all the complaining about B8, Daz may just decide to wait until April…! We'll just have to wait and see.

poof ..couldnt twke it anymore bought that dang bridgette and her cheap , HD thing ...
really to get a few mwish list items that were in those $50 picks ... and with the 15% gift cert not a real bad deal... but now that puts me out of business until April.

..great, another usless G8 character.  So much for any key item discount.

[Please excuse any typos, the forum spell check doesn't seem to want to work tonight and I'm not about to copy evyerthing over to Word and back every time.]

I start feeling like maybe I'm just being grumpy... then I see all the old-timers have the same complaints as I do... and that makes me feel better. :)

    Daz Mods:

Just a heads up: I have an Active Buyer message today, but there's no expiration date. I assume there should be one.

Also, as of this moment, everything in my wishlist that shows 40% off loses all or most of those percentages when place in the cart. At best, they show 10% off, even though I'm a PC+ member. But the Active Buyer discount works, so my cart ends up showing an average of 12 to 22% off, instead of the almost 60% they should be. I guess the servers are running slow again?

EDIT to add: new items in the cart are showing just 30% off instead of 50% (I did not include the Active Buyer code),

One question, if I bought in the last 3 days just a "Bonus Buyer" item, does this count as a condition for the next 3 days for the Bonus Buyer discount of 70%?

Or in other words, is it enough to just buy the "Bonus Buyer" items, to get these at 70%?

Theoretically the condition shoule be meet, after they are normally a "New Release from the last THREE (3) days". Right?

There was one day where a Bonus Buyer was a non-new release, so that day wouldn't work.  But otherwise, yes, that seems to be case.
