With zbrush, you can get decent uvs just by using it's unwrapping feature and making sure you've got smart polygroups.  Like with clothes, group it like you cut it if it were real fabric.  With hard surface stuff, you might be able to get by by just grouping it so that each different material is its own group.

It's looking good. I'm enjoying the new series quite a bit,  one of the best things I've read in a long time. I'd thought about doing Scott and Barda for a while (and because I love the bwahaha era league).

One of my first freebies was a barda helmet (I just mashed a bunch of primitives together and shaped them in zbrush).   But yeah, time.  There just isn't time anymore.

If you want help texturing, and you don't have substance painter, I can bang something out once you've got the modeling and uv mapping done.

Well, since there are no modellers out there wanting to invest time (I understand as I barely have any myself) I have decided to give it a shot. Here is Barda So far in ZBrush.... this could take a WHILE.

Wow. I am truly honored, Joe. :)  I will be honest and let know I have never UV mapped anything before. I was just going to have it done with shaders but like HELL am I going to turn down and opportunity to collaborate with you! :) I will LEARN how to UV map it. I still am figuring out crease placement on the helmet  and then will tackle her chestplate and the body suit.

My favorite scene of all time? "One punch! ONE PUNCH!!! BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" :)

Thanks again and I am MORE than overjoyed to see this through with ya! :)

Not sure what you are looking for, but it is there....there are just strong shadows

I think he means the "pancake", thick, white makeup with goth-black lispstick which is usually associated with her initial design by Bruce Timm.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

Might be my computer screen, it's very old.  I'll look at it again when I'm on a better system.  Nothing wrong with it either way.

Be really cool to see the original Defenders line up from back in the 70's.  Not sure if Nighthawk could be done.

A couple of pages back i posted my WIP of the original Defenders. It inspired me to keep working on them. Here's Namor. Nighthawk is next.

    Here's how I made it:

    G2M

    Superbelt

    AllBack Hair

Shell - Animated Heaven - Designs of eternity

    Feathered Wings for All

    Custom Head Morph

    Custom Face Texture

    Kitbashers - Bracers v01

Briefs - Genesis 2 Starter Essentials

Wolverine. Planned to do a piece several months back during the Logan hype, but RL, you know. Managed to finish it after hearing about his co-creator, Len Wein passed away.

Figure is Genesis 1 (with various Evolution and Zev0 morphs). Kitbashed the Mach 1.5 suit from ShareCG, Journeyman Scout outfit (from Genesis Starter essentials), Mutant Claws for Genesis (also at ShareCG). Rendered in DS. Postwork in PS and Clip Studio Paint.

What base figure is it for? (ex. V4, Genesis 1, G2 Female, etc.) That  would help narrow down your choices. Also consider that Autofitting to Genesis figures (1 to 8) can have some warping issues here and there.

For V4/G1 there are some Wonder Woman boots you can use from CGShare.  I use them all the time, just re-texture them.

  • doh, sorry about that, well ideally gen2 or gen3 female as they seem to be autofitting ok. wonderwoman boots wont cut it as they need to be higher up and ideally pointed at the top.i know i can always trans map the shape at top if i need to. its just really the heels that are the problem

TerryMcG ( http://www.sharecg.com/pf/full_uploads.php?pf_user_name=TerryMcG) has a couple of high ones for V4 for free. He also has some not free ones on his Deviant Art page (https://terrymcg.deviantart.com/art/Jun-The-Swan-costume-for-V4-and-A4-454701319) that might work for you. I've have a pair that I used on X-men's Phoenix that are closer to what I think you are looking for, but I can't rememebr where I got them. Let me check when I get home tonight.

  • i just found this!

That's a very good likeness of how he appeared during the silver age of comics (1970s). Nice job on the custom face work.

    Thanks for the compliment.

  • I picked up a copy of Generations Captain Marvel and Captain Mar-vell last week and I was inspired by the cover. Here's my interpretation. As usual, everything rendered in Carrara. Credits for the costumes are below.

Captain Marvel  (female):V4, Lana Elite, V4 Bodysuit, V4 Bodysuit Gloves, Textures by Blodget, Courageous Boots, Courageous Belt, Gloria Short Hair

Captain Mar-vell (male): G3M, Michael 7, Kitbashers Supersuit v03 by MightyMite, Ricardi Hair

  • Here are my original characters, Crimson Angel and her primary enemies (and siblings) Beta and Omega.

I do like the premise of these characters. However, speaking strictly from an editorial point of view, you should consider changing Omega's contrast color from red to blue (or green). I suggest this because, in a crowded panel or a long shot, it might be possible to confuse Crimson Angel and Omega because they both have costumes that are black and red.

These are cool designs, as I said, but side-by-side they seem a bit similar. At least to my tired old eyes! Cool concepts -- looking forward to seeing more.

That is deliberate. They are identical twins, and Omega's outfit(which she would really only wear occasionally) is meant to mock Crimson Angel's. I can't say much more, because I have most of the story worked out, and don't wanna give anything away... Just in case I ever do make the comic.

Okay -- that's a good reason. Thanks for filling us in.

Sweet merciful Mogg!  The Herculoids!  Specifically, Tara (the human), Tundro the Tremendous (the rhino like beast) and Gloop and Gleep, the formless, fearless wonders!

Arguably, that was my favorite action-adventure, science fantasy cartoon of the 1960s.  In recent years, I've wondered if Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera grew up reading the Barsoom novels (A Princess of Mars and others) by Edgar Rice Burroughs and was their opportunity to create something in that vein which would be totally their own property.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

  • I used to liove that show when I was a kid.

  • RedfernRedfern Posts: 1,647

I still enjoy it, at least for the music.  Several of the "cues" came from Jonny Quest and Space Ghost, but it still had a fair amount of its own distinctive pieces, which, ironically were reused for later productions.

    Sincerely,

    Bill
