    Modern Matriarch

    Modern Matriarch, by L'Adair

The skin base for this image is from the Growing Up Skin MR bundle, modified heavily with SB3. I used the Aging Morphs to make her look older, and even used Breast Control to get the "flat and saggy" look I was going for. Lighting was a problem. I finally found a soft light probe in the iRadiance series that left me with a "soft focus" feel. Besides the light probe, there is are two spots: one on her face with a cool blue temperature, and one from above on her hair.

As always, you can see the full-size image and/or a list of the products used on the gallery page here.

Oh god, that's horrifying!  I love it!  I never would have thought of using Death Hunter like that.  Excellent lighting, and her eyes are perfect for the scene!  Too many people (likely myself included) would forget that tiny but important detail

I immediately thought of the great David Cronenberg, who has sadly gone respectable in his old age.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

And the interior of the Dart - all-new dash, updated seats, IRay materials. One of these days, I'll figure out lighting, but it's not today - this was more luck than anything ;).

What's going on here? Don't know, you decide. Just testing/mixing never before used old stuff converted to iray.

...did you just use the Iray Uber base shader?

Yes, except for the dwarf's skin, where I used Iray Converter for Genesis, and his hair, where I used UHT2 Original Textures shader. The light in the lamps worked right out of the box, just used a single mesh light for general lighting

It turned out really good for just "monkeying" around with old stuff. (chuckle) Your dwarf's face reminds me of Sean Penn...

I like the effect. I missed all those warriors in the fog the first time I looked! Can you share a link to the video?

    Retribution

    Retribution, by L'Adair

As an entry to the SB3 render competition, I needed the emphasis to be on the human skin. So I hunkered down and finally made the DOF on the camera do what I wanted. The problem I had was getting the focus where I wanted it would always lose the framing I'd worked so hard to set, usually pushing the camera too far back. I finally figured out, once the settings for DOF were right, I could look through the camera and "zoom in" without totally messing things up. At least that's how it worked for me this time. I did cheat on one thing, though. G2M (with his shield and pole axe) are parented to the camera, so I could reframe the centaur without messing up his placement.

And let me add... putting G3F clothing on a G3F centaur is soooo much easier than on a GenX'ed G3M-to-G3F! I think I would still use the GenX version if I wanted her to wear a female variation of male clothing, like one of the centaur armors that came with C7 for G3M. But for the most part, I am delighted DAZ finally released the centauride.

TerraDome3 (land, terrain shaders, atmospheric haze), Mec4d's murky water shader, Iray Worlds sky, Ultrascatter to place the trees, NIK filters for postwork.

I haven't seen much of TerraDome based renders but I think that one is my favorite that I have seen.

I really like the shape of her face

I was just commenting on that in the Centaur 7 thread:

    L'Adair said:

I used various morphs, including some from the 200 Plus - Head & Face Morphs for G3F, to give her face a longer, more equine look... longer, more prominent nose; wider mouth; squarer, wider jaw; bigger teeth. And I increased the size of her head a bit, too. I used a bunch of Muscularity morphs to buff her up, too. But I don't think her bulk is obvious in this shot... the angle of the camera conspires with the gloves and shoulder guards to hide most of her arms.

I thought it would be fun to come up with something different. We tend to think of the human half of a centaur as being an idealized human form, whether male of female. Do you recall the centaurs in the the Harry Potter movies? They were most definitely not "Idealized." (Kind of ugly and beastial, imo.)

Very beautiful. And a bit too perfect... except I've driven through parts of the US that were "too perfect," as well. Nature is astonishing, when you give her the chance. Very nicely done.

Thank you! There are a few places where the tiling shows a little, which doesn't make me happy...

I intend to, at some point, create a procedural set of terrain shaders to be able to fill stuff more organically, but it's a challenge.

I was inspired by some conversations about Bryce; Bryce, Carrara, and a few other programs have lovely procedural shader systems that can robustly fill terrain. So... that's a goal. ;)

Somewhat simpler (given lack of vegetation).

Martian Outpost + Martian Steed Beast + Martian Genesis stuff + TD3 stuff

Was a bit of a struggle getting this to fit in VRAM, but managed to yank some unnecessary maps.
