I don't think it would work as merchant resource , it will be not possible  to edit and make it your own, one wrong value and everything turns white or gray , my plan with this is to use it as shader for G3 figures with all possible skin tones and skin textures like smooth, rough etc.. tanned , dark light and cover most everything .. like creation pack with additional eyes and other materials .. and it may work in all light as long it is proper PBR light as the light actually generate the texture on the skin like in real life but you don't have to be specialist on it as long you don't trow it in empty scene with headlamp light or render with interactive . The oly thing what will make it unique is Morph of the character or HD morph , and each time you turns the light the skin will change it''s appearance what is actually cool , it is like with brushed aluminum metal , it will be possible to add own imperfections as bump maps and displacement channel can be mixed with as it is free .. anyway I still need to find the proper guide for it as it is in a very early stage of construction , I may find even better guide for usage and change my mind about merchant resource idea but can't tell much now about , I still learning my new ways myself , and I may have the knowledge but in practice not everything works in DS the way we want it to work if you know what I mean :)

I'd love something like this as a merchant resource to make my own skins to sell.  Would you consider making something that can be used as such that comes with the proper bump, normal, sepcular and what ever other maps.  I realize that skin changes per area of the the body but having a really nice base that you know is going to look good under any kind of light would help get some of us to a better level of content creation.

Thank you .. It render as fast as metal for me , I rendered 15000 samples on 10 level quality render full dressed with hair in 8 min but I pushed to the limits from curiosity ,  On quality level 1 as usual  it took 6-11 second and 300 samples ( just naked genesis figure)  with over 6000 Cuda  cores , but also I was able to move and preview the character with CPU only in the viewport in real time and my CPU is just i7 4790K 5 ghz in speed .

    Wonderfull skin cath.

What's about the render time? is it power consyuming or is it comparable to old fashioned skin render time?

Now the most challenging test.. how to do African skin with one color for disposition for both epidermis and melanin and with all the skin transitions it will be the most  challenging to create color guide for it like between the palms and top hand skin as that is like  2 in one  .. so here test number 1 with the top skin for now just one color for skin and normals

bump is a bit too heavy even for tests Cath...looking ok hope it gets better as you progress.

  • MEC4DMEC4D Posts: 5,249

it would be not a test if that was perfect I guess ! cheeky ..and don't forget I am using one small  tiled skin normal and not actual full body normal maps with the right bumps on the right places .. the test was more about the  skin  color generated by iray from nothing .

    Hi Cath,

OK, I understand.  If you figure out, if that thought stays with you, that you can make a merchant resource I'll be in line to buy it.

You are so generous, so talented and more important you are a wonderful person inside and out.

Thank you very much for your green shaders and the fun and excitement they brought to me, and, of course, for all your hard and fun work. Following your threads is always inspiring. You make it sound so easy, which is not.

I am not good with words so I better stop.
