You're right; much more classy and commanding. Can it have a death star cutout on the front?
Yes, but this method is based on converting G3 back to TriAx riging like G1/2 and then using DSON importer, not on using G3 technology in Poser. The utility itselfs fixes some problems you have with expressions when you simply do the conversion.
biggest surprise for me was thinking sydd or is it syyd was a male... when in fact he is a she, I think..
totally confusing these mergers!
Yes, Syyd is a she ;)
What's that old expression ...? Oh yes, "Sith happens"
Too many stores selling too few customers. The poser/daz base is not growing exponentially. The 3D creation market is not growing exponentially. There was alot of growth as 3D came into the public consciousness and the software was still maturing, but now 3D is commonly known and the software is mature. One piece of proof, Software as a Service (SAAS).
The supplier market will shrink, software vendors will find a new way to make revenue rather than bring out new versions every 2 years,
and of this will be pushed to new markets.
Is this merger linked to encryption because it came at about the same time? There's also the encrytion promo this weekend. Maybe other content stores/vendors are attracted to encryption. If so, bonus for DAZ, bummer for us.
Nah, they've got nothing to do with each other beyond happening around the same time.
Was the merger before DAZ Studio 4.9 or after?
I don't think we can answer that question. The merger was announced after 4.9 and encryption, sure, but who knows how long either were in progress beforehand or if they were related in any way? Only they can answer that.
One snag maybe in the coming weeks is when they start to release the RDNA back catalogue. None of that will be encrypted, and it maybe will be "competing for attention" against encrypted products released at the same time. Naturally the encrypted stuff will be "new and shiny", where as the RDNA stuff will be older, so it will be interesting to see which is more popular.
Alternatively it'll be March so maybe it'll just be a slew of sales all round.
I am trying to be patient but I have been waiting 3 days now for them to send my email with info to reset my password for my account, even though it says an email has been sent, well that is just an automated message. Since I cannot login over there I cannot ask an admin in the forums for help, so I still wait to login and see if I can access my account to have it merged with my Daz account
I just reset my password on RNDS, and I got the mail with no problem. Maybe it ended up in the Spam or other protective nets?
+1 I have loved that model since it came out, and never could catch RDNA sales as I sometimes missed the newsletters. I am excited about the merger because we will get more content and more great PA's in one place
Nope I just checked again , the last email I got was the one from RDNA informing me of the merger with DAZ. All the newsletters I received come to this email addy so I just don't get it. I tried with my email for DAZ and it says incorrect match so I know I am using the correct email for RDNA
Kharma you could try PMing Sydd here at Daz, she's the OP of this thread - DAZ_Sydd.
Oh never thought of that, thanks scorpio. Hope her message box isn't already full, I am sure she is totally swamped!
Both Star and the Unicorn have Studio versions over there, so they will come over already ready.
BTW, Lady Littlefox has an older item named Diamond which is a little horse (I've used him so much) which would be a better fit for an MLP than even the unicorn. But he's so old maybe he was in Deep Freeze.
I don't see this merger as a good thing if Poser users will again be alienated.
So far all I've heard is DAZ is welcoming just the old Poser stuff already available at Runtime DNA. There's no mention of whether they will be allowing new content for Poser. I kind of doubt it since it would be competing with other software.
I'm a Poser user and have been since it came out and rarely shop here anymore because of the forum negativity toward Poser users and lack of Poser content. RDNA's merger with DAZ for me will only be a good thing if some of their Poser-supported vendors come along. There are several vendors over there that I support and will only continue to support if they still make content for Poser. DSON support doesn't count.
I like Mortem Vetus' stuff especially the characters. I could also find characters for the Mil4 figures which are scarce everywhere else or just the same old thing with a different name.
.
The only thing I noticed was that one of the mods or Robert hisself mentioned a new field in the database for origin, or something, that I took to mean 'store'. I was thinking in terms of metadata for our non-daz content. Never occurred to me that something like this would happen! My RDNA stuff in DIM. Wheeeeeeeeeeee!
BTW, for those who don't want to use DIM, the downloads should also be available in your Account in your Product Library.
Actually, one of the things that I'm really wondering about is how the transition of products will be handled in terms of packaging. Some RDNA artists like Evil Innocence have traditionally broken products into single itemes that are further broken again across figure lines... ie: the dress for an outfit is sold in conformations for V4, Dawn, Koshinni, etc., while the coat for the same outfit is also sold the same way. Others have made lots of small items that eventually get bundled into large construction sets. With so many skus to bring over, I suspect that there's going to have to be some consolidation, as otherwise this store is going to get very bloated very quickly. So for something like the Baker Street set, will we only see the full bundle brought to DAZ, while an outfit might come with, say... a Gen 4 set, a Genesis set and then all the toon figure morphs packed together? It's going to be very intersting to see how all this comes together.
Mortem Vetus has stated that they and their products will be moving here, Ladyfox has said she is already in the middle of creating an outfit for M4, so I think the fears that no Poser products will be produced is possible a bit premature.
Does Poser's range of figures work in Studio?
Sorry if this has been broached, but this thread is already 13 pages long and it would take way to long to go through and read it all...
What about my RDNA Wishlist? Will that migrate over here to Daz3D?
Also, I would REALLY like an option in my "Product Library" to filter by company -- this would allow me to see all my old RDNA stuff at a glance.
He was I believe, but he's got the wrong proportions and face.
The baby unicorn has the closest proportions that I've seen, it's just the head needs to be rounded and the muzzle changed. And the hooved smoothed. It already has better rigging, better modelling, more expressive morphs.
Some very kind soul just gifted me with the base figure. So very nice!
The older ones that do not use Poser weight mapping should work, I confess I have never tried, though I have loaded some of their animals into DS (these are 10+ years old) and they do work. Rex/Roxie/Paul and Pauline will definitely not work unless they are re-rigged.
