Sometimes Kroger does! I got a couple gallons of milk for .25 each the other day. We go through a lot here, so I'll take the savings wherever I can get them (which means more money for DAZ lol.)

This sort of worked for me, but I screwed up and did things incorrectly. It cost me the full price for Cian and cost Ozichick her item because I refused to buy it when I found I'd already bought Cian at full price.

It also seems to have raised the price for the pirate sword from $2+ to $4+ unless I'm misrembering the price. So to get 5 items I probably won't get much use out of it cost me at least $10.

I am a highly unhappy customer.

    -

    D. Jay Newman AKA Nerdbird

No need to be unhappy, Jay. Customer Support will make it right.

You will need to have purchased an Ozichick item, if you haven't already. Just let CS know you got confused with so much going on. They will credit you what you paid for Cian. If you want the money credited back to your credit/debit card, or Paypal, be sure to let them know. Their default is to give you store credit. (Fine by me, it all gets spent here, anyway!)

It was several months after I started buying 3d stuff here at DAZ that I found out about the 30-day return policy. I don't think any other store has it, so it's easy to assume you're stuck if you made a mistake. But DAZ is really good about taking care of you.

Welcome to the Community. And Happy Holidays!

Thanks for the tip. I don't have any of those, because the promo images don't really show them off very well. It is hard to tell what they would look like on a real garment or prop. Do you have some renders to show off? I'd love to see them in use.

Sure. Here are some of the fabrics from the Elegant Fabric Iray Shader set and the Everyday Fabrics Shaders Iray set:

How did you wind up with that style face? Looks super cool!

Also not really sure how anyone can dither over normally $3 bundles of hundreds of textures/materials that are now FREE, but I'll add my recommendation that I bought them and thought they were more than worth their price.

Thank you! :) It's a mix of Sickleyeild's Ball Joint Doll for G3F and Star 2.0 for G3F.

The Boll Joint Doll has a great toon shape:

    As does Star 2.0:

I mixed them and really like the result. I dialed in the Ball Joint Doll's head to 70% and Star's head to 37%. And Dialed in the Ball Joint Doll's body in at 37% and Star's body at 70%.

So her body is mostly Star's body with a little bit of Ball Joint Doll added in, but her head is mostly the Ball Joint Doll's head with a bit of Star's head added in. lol :) And then I made a few adjustments from there with a few of the G3F morphs.

Is there a reason Darius 7 is not showing any introductory discount?

It looks like a store error. See this thread: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/134836/not-getting-a-discount-on-darius-7#latest

I just hope I can get the pro bundle at the today only higher discount for today's new releases

  • Diva, I had been ignoring the toon shapes - and then a great deal on Keiko came up and I thought, "what the heck..."

I guess Akio is where I first started realizing that by dialing down the toon qualities and dialing up the realstic ones, and adding a photorealistic skin mat, you can get some really incredible results that are hard to duplicate with just morphing the realistic characters alone.

I think the first person I noticed doing this was Elianeck. I think she does a lot of realistic Aiko based renders. I'd had Aiko 4, 5 and 6 for a while and had never done anything with any of them.

Figuring out how to use DAZ content in ways that the content wasn't really aimed at is one of the more rewarding things about this hobby. Retexturing the inside of a church abby into a suburban house, using a female hair from Gen 1 as a beard and pony tail on GRIM... using Deformers to do things that they weren't really designed to do. A lot of times, you can buy some package for $19.95 that will simplify it into a one click process, and maybe do it cleaner and in a way that is easier to work with - but I dig it when there is a challenge and I come up with some interesting alternative that just takes some patience and ingenuity.

Having a diverse set of content helps in that regard. People who overlook the toon characters because they don't do non-photorealistic renders, should look again at the toon characters that are out there.

I've seen quite a few people on several threads talking about not knowing what to get from the Christmas Week Bonus Selection because of the over 4,000 items in it and the TONS of textures one has to wade through. So I thought I'd post some the items I think are worth while. This is just my opinion so take it or leave it. :)

As well as the above shader sets, I also think these look like great items (some I own and am happy with - others just, to me, look like they are cool products):

LOL I haven't made it anywhere near page 40.

There are some new PC+ items today which seem to be counting as the new release to trigger the 6th free item. There's also a new free item, Performance Snowmobile, with no additional purchase required (at least for PC+ members.) It doesn't seem to interfere with the free code at the moment. So you can get 7 items free for a little over $2!

  • The Snowmobile is probably the new free PC+ item.

  • Diva the Traveler's Naturals props are also really useful in making nature environments like Terradome and Cycloramas look more convincing... there are quite a few of them in the catalog of freebie items.

Some of Ironman13's store is not 40% off , nor does the Day 5 featured vendor discount work, even though she is a featured vendor today.  About a quarter of the way down the first page....   http://www.daz3d.com/ironman13

Not sure if it is just me, but I find the masses of sales really tedious. You either spend quite some time each day checking the special sales or you risk making a bad deal - e.g. buy something, then find out you could have had an extra discount or something on top for free, which then makes you feel upset, because you missed it. Happened too often to me already.

I can only say that, since the sales stuff went completely crazy a "couple" of months ago (and prizes up btw.), I buy way less than I did before - it turned from fun into pure stress for me. Plus, you really have to check the sales twice and thrice, compare them (gone are the days of ONE sale at a time), combinate them, calculate, plan ahead, having discounts not applied correctly and stuff. Time is money, you know... :(

Also, pretty cool that I can chose 5 free items today - if there were much much much better filters to make the picking somewhat sane. Instead you click and click and click, time goes by, you get annoyed by clicking through stuff you don't want, by wasting precious time, always having the fear that you miss the one real cool item. This is very time consuming, this is very stressful. I don't know about others, but it's no fun to me and that's a good way to make me not spend extra money. I appreciate the free items, I really do, but for me it's more of an annoyance, because I want to make the best use out of these 5 choices, but that consumes waaay too much time.

Just want to mention it, I don't want to rant - I'm cool with this having ended my money spending spree, really.  ;-)

It is always better to wait if you are limited in time; because if you miss a good sale today, well there will be another along sooner or later.

This is a big help - a DAZ Deal browser addon:

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/106296/announcing-daz-deals-browser-add-on/p1

  • I decided since I was using a PC+ item to trigger the extra freebie, I'd use todays set to clear out 6 long-time PC+ wishlist things for free.  Maybe not the most efficient use of it, but I've already cleared out all the other wishlist items in the set, so now it's just hunting for juicy extras.

The Wishlistify button is so nice!

use the magic button: Wishlistify !!!

you load the free item selection page, hit the button Wishlistify , and then you only see on your page the item on YOUR wishlist that are also in the current selection list ;-)

Instant, magic, and big time saver

(maybe in this topic, not sure: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/129381/wishlistify-wishlistme )

  • exstarsisexstarsis Posts: 2,128

Hey useful! I'd been doing that the old fashioned way:filtering by artist and manually comparing my wishlist to the freebie list. This has really been brilliant for reducing my wishlist, which I try to keep under 200.

Actually I have another mechanic for managing the sales: something HAS to be on my wishlist for me to buy it. Or it has to be PC+, or it has to reduce the cost of a wishlisted thing significantly. Or, uh, be a new Feature Character, massively on sale. Apparently. Anyhow it saves me from 'this is a really great deal even thing I have no idea if I'd use it'. Put it on my wishlist, wait for another sale to come around and see if it survives the occasional wishlist-pruning.

Most of the time I love the thrill of the bargain hunt, it's kind of like a sport to me. But there are days when the problems get tedious. I do enjoy DAZ's sales for the most part. Yeah, some of them are time consuming. I'm spending way more time shopping than rendering, but the deals make it worth it. Shop now, play later when the sales die down (if they ever do!)

Didn't know about the wishlistify. Off to check that out. Thanks!

Is it me or does the number of items in the Christmas Week Bonus Selection shrink duringthe day?

When I checked at 6:00 am there were 61 pages. Check back at 8:00 it was 31. Now at 2:30 its down to 28

    What gives?

Hum... I think you're right. They were all PC items, but only some have the discount and it doesn't show up if I'm not logged in. However, I don't have PC+, can't afford it. It's not on my account either. Really weard. I'll see if I can find something anyway. It's a crapshoot though, I can only see the discount in the cart.

Yes, there's a built in autofit to convert Star's orgiinal clothes to Star 2.0. It seems to work pretty well. I think I have a render around here somewhere, though the lighting was terrible. The original Star stuff was super cheap when she came out, so I grabbed both.

I had pretty good success with Star 2.0 in Star 1's clothing and hair without much issue, too. I posted a render somewhere in the Star 2.0 thread that probably isn't worth me digging up.
