GenX2 is such a great thing. I only wish they were permitted to transfer HD morphs. I've transferred HD morphs and it seems to make a LITTLE difference, though...

But, yeah, it's really given me a lot of power to move morphs all over the place.

I just wish it wasn't so crazy expensive. In order to use the Genesis 3 genX you have to have THREE different products (Genesis Generation X2, GenX2 AddOn for Genesis 2, and GenX2 AddOn for Genesis 3). All three products comes up to $63 and as far as I can tell they hardly ever go on sale - and when I have seen them go on sale since I started watching them, they don't seem to discount very deeply. I really wish there was a product that would do that without buying three different products and spending so much. Ah well, I'm sure eventually they will get a really deep discount ...maybe. lol Or maybe someone will come out with a product that will do it without having to buy two additional products. ...Maybe. lol Hey, I can dream.

I seem to recall a tutorial on here someplace for DIY morph transfers, though when I tried the eyes and mouth didn't transition so well.

There is also darkhound's one -

Does anyone have any experience with the one from Darkhond1? Does it work reasonably well for Genesis 3

I didn't know there was an add on for Genesis 3 available yet. Do you have a link?

Thanks Kerya. I had found that; but somehow I saw the "Generation 3" in the promo image, didn't really read the description, and thought it was for Generation 3 (M3/V3) rather than for Genesis 3.

I bet I did the same, because I wasn't aware this existed yet

Yes, I purchased that a while back and it does work quite well. They're not exact but they get very close. I wish he was doing one for G3M, but alas, the coding apparently is quite difficult.

Here's Nevara for V4 (from Rendo). The original and then converted to a G3F:

I did these before I really knew what I was doing. Looks like I only did the face, but I can't remember. I'd love to revisit it soon. I think with a little tweaking, I could get them to look almost exactly the same (and I'd fix the camera to match too.) Here's a link to my original post and full sized pics on Cayman's UV thread: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1130561/#Comment_1130561

I have GenX for G3 and haven't tried it yet. I bought most of the GenX stuff when I first found DAZ and as a new user, found it nightmarish to use. I didn't know my way around the interface at the time and the documentation didn't make sense to me. Will try it again soon too. Probably after the holidays.

I did some morph transfers using the manual methods mentioned here, and the eyes were invariably screwed up, often to the point that made them unusable. Generation X and the Gen 3 add on do I much better job, and I would recommend it to anyone that can afford it.

A couple more very good deals today on G2 stuff. These bundles have a lot of stuff in them, with a lot of versality. Dan comes with a couple of different skins, accessories and looks (you can even make him into a werewolf or a vampire.) The Mech Gear is a multilayered set for both males and females with undressing morphs and all kinds of other things. I was thrilled to grab the Wachiwi bundle for $5.99, that's a nice and versatile one too. She is very lovely.

Beware that some of the 60% and 70% off items are not coming off. I noticed this with the DAZ Dragon 3 bundle, As You Wish bundle, and a couple of other ones in those categories. Some featured artist bundles seem to have extra discounts- the Egyptian Mega Bundle and the Comic Villian Bundle are both around $10 with new purchase (at the moment, the freebie counts as one.) It's one of those days!

  • By the way, whoever mentioned using autofollow to fit a G1 item to G2, then deleting the G2 character and fitting the item to G3... *brilliant*.

I wish I had thought of that months ago.

Well, let's see what kind of trouble we can get into today. I keep saying "No more!" and then they come out with something awesome like today's Elven Prince outfit. Wow, that is really stunning. The rest of the items in the bundle are beautiful too, but that outfit stands out and so do the add on textures. The extra 30% off with new release is a nice incentive. Another freebie from RDNA too. I'm not sure I'll do the bedside freebie, I have a lot of things like that already. I'm totally in love with Bitwelder's products. There's a sunwashed look to them that's unmistakable. Those are still on sale for great prices:

Hm, today's bundles don't really save much even if you want every single item in them. That seems unusual - I'm not going to go through every other bundle in existence to check, but the topshop one from the other day seems to represent massively more savings for going the bundle route over separate. With the topshop one it was a tough decision between getting the bundle and just the bit I needed - with these ones there doesn't seem to be any point (and I imagine bundles are often bought by customers that wanted to buy some not all of the items but the deal was great, going off posts I see.) Curious choice.

Also the release offer goes cheaper with a new release which suggests buying them with a pc+ item which won't be til tomorrow, so something to keep in mind.

    Edit:

For clarification, I'm not saying the bundle is too expensive; I'm saying that its total price seems far closer to the individual prices than usual. Obviously you can stack together a bunch of things with the launch offer for significant savings.

  • They discount gets deep if you add a new item from WDJ's catalog.

With WDJ Frame Studio at $4.66 as the least expensive item in his catalog...

I get WDJ Bedroom Props for free...

It drops Clarice Bundle to $28.39

And I get Technophilia Retro - Gynoids V1, Halon for free.

    For a total of $33.06.

Platinum Club December coupon brings that down to $28.06. (Because no matter what, I can't seem to get the full $6 discount value out of the Platinum Club coupon this month on items that are already discounted - but this is the closest I've seen it...)

That is, honestly - a pretty steep discount for a BUNCH of content... most of it content and topics that are really popular.

It isn't a crazy blowout stacking price... but if you real go for the Monster High Gothic Horror Waif look (which a lot of people seem in to...) it is a pretty good deal.  :)

  • And I only get the 10% holiday loyalty discount reward bonus on top of that. Some of you are getting an extra 25%, right? Your carts should be significantly cheaper.

  • Oh... and if you don't get the bundle, the WDJ stacking doesn't apply... so I tried putting in everything except the poses and expressions from the Clarice bundle... and my cart price was double.

    I'm only getting 5%.

  • Heh... so I'm not as hooked as the rest of you... but have nowhere near as much willpower as Diva... :)

By the way, Diva... I picked up the GenX stuff during the Thanksgiving sales. I think with stacking and everything the main engine got down around $11... and I'd been watching it for a while... my total cart was a little spendy that day... but Gen X is a lot of value for the buck... if you see it in that area... pounce. :)

You can always add the various other packages later as you need them and if they are on sale. That is what I did for the G3 plugin... First I learned how to do transfer from Gen 1 to Gen 2... I still don't have several of the expansion modules.

If you need some shaders, today is a really good day for those too. Khory, DG and Mec4D all have some in the various sales (particularly the superhero one- can get an extra 10% off the ones in the superhero sale with 2 new superhero releases.) That's an insane price on the Mec4D shaders! The IDG Portrait Studio Bundle for Iray is also at a very good price.

Wow, you got it down that low!? NICE! :) I think my main issue is that I'm worried about getting the "main engine"/first product by itself when it's the only one on sale or the only one deeply discounted, but that I won't be able to afford the other 2. I really don't need the first or even the first and second ones by themselves - but I need all three in order to transfer to G3. As I don't have a desire to move V4 to Genesis 1 (since I don't use Genesis 1) or Genesis 2 (because I'm trying to transfer my characters to Genesis 3). So just getting the first one or the first and second one doesn't help me and it's a lot of money to buy the first and/or the first and second and hope that the third goes on a deep discount sale eventually too. All three together are expensive and what happens if it doesn't go on sale for a LONG time, or if another less expensive product that can do the same thing comes out while I'm waiting to be able to finally acquire all three products. Ahhhhhh lol

So that's why I'm trying to wait until all three are on a deep discount sale together.

It would be cool if he would bundle the three products up together and sell them as a bundle - as those are less expensive than buying all the products separately. And since you NEED all three in order to transfer to G3, it would make sense to sell them in a bundle. :)

If you use Iray, Mec4D's Vol.1 and Vol.2 shaders are pretty much a must-have. And at that price? That's close to a no-brainer.

I have no connection to Mec4D, I'm just a satisfied customer.

I think I now have all three of them. Picked up the third one by mistake- it's a merchant resource, and I'm not sure if it repeats the other two. But I got them all at fantastic prices, so I'm not complaining. I'm amazed to get Vol 1 for $4! Been wanting it since it came out.

Looking closer at the Ancient Dining Hall Bundle, that's a steal. There are two gorgeous outfits, an entire room and props in it. There's a dinnnerware set with food and table and chairs. The sheer curtains are lovely. So are all of the textures. With so many windows and different angles, this room could be used in many ways. I don't know what light was used in the promos, but the Ancient Room is stunning. And the lines of the Elven Prince outfit are perfect for historical, modern or futuristic outfits. You could have alot of fun with shaders on that one. Fantastic design! The Elven Princess set comes with five textures, a crown, necklace, sandals, and lots of morphs. I think it could be combined with other Shox/Arki items to be less skimpy if needed.

The PAs really knocked themselves out on this bundle. I can't imagine the work that went into it. Beautiful! Can't wait to do some renders.

    these items: http://www.daz3d.com/saturday-december-10th-featured-2016-top-sellers#

From today's sale. I'm not getting the "60% off with new release"...the highest I'm getting is 57% and I think that includes my 15% holiday bonus.

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/132706/links-to-2016-and-2015-top-items-wrong-for-monday#latest

Basically it's the wrong link (it says Saturday 10th)

I hear what you're saying.  But, that doesn't make much sense.  It used to be that if the ad was still scrolling up top, then that sale was still active.  They always take down the ads that no longer apply.  So, why would the links for Saturday not still be in effect?  Honestly, most of what I've tried putting in my cart today has had the discount messed up.  I think they must change the calculation about twice a day.

Love, love, love, Mec4D stuff...Shaders are top notch.  And, Unshaven is a great value since it works on G3 as well.  If you can only get one set of Mec4D shaders, get volume 2.  It has the most variety for various uses.  Volume 1 is all about metals, and is terrific.  But, you get a lot of good metal shaders in Volume 2 as well.  I haven't bought Volume 3, yet, as it seems to be a lot of repeats of the first two volumes.  But, I'm sure there are some good items in there.

I'll say that her shaders make it possible to take old sets from the pre - Iray days, and update them.  This means that that old stone building with the low res textures can be updated to look really amazing.  I bought my sets on sale for around $15 each.  They were worth every penny.

I'd really like some worn leather shaders.  But, I looked at the Aged Leather shaders set from IGD.  The renders and sample sheets didn't really look all that interesting to me.  I mean, the cover shot of the boots looks great.  But, the other renders didn't really show off much in the way of aging or wear.  I was hoping for more of that cracked and scratched look...something for tough old leather armor or harnesses...etc.  I think the IGD stuff is more for a fashion look.

That said, I totally love their Efx and Bone and Scale shaders.

  • The Elven Princess outfit looks like its being held up by nothing less powerful than pure Elven magic. Should have called it Elven sorceress outfit.

Though the worn out look on table has a antique feel but the planks on the table top betrays its grandeur (i.e. makes it look like a commoner table). Also it seems that the chairs have not aged as much as the table. May be that's just me though.
