I should also mention, I've tested Brow Remover with face textures that include makeup. Obviously, not all face textures with makeup will work, but many of the simpler makeups will, which saves me the trouble of having to add makeup after removing the brows. For example, V7:
Don't forget that most characters have multiple maps, doing the removal manually will require altering each and keeping the modifications in step while Brow Remover will patch all maps in one operation.
yeh but it doesn't work as well on specular and SSS textures; and can be 5 or 6. It's a time saver. Not only that, it saves a preset so can apply it to the same skin again, very useful, and another time saver.
Sure, there might be times that the altered area might be an issue, but not so far, and be much quicker to adjust that in Gimp wannabe than start from scratch; I even have lots already done, but still consider it a good buy.
I've got a few already done too, but love the Brow Remover for all the reasons already mentioned. It's far quicker than editing all the maps and you can save it as a preset in seconds. The brief time that it takes to run is then freed up for other vital tasks like reading football gossip, filing nails, nagging at husbands and all the other things that busy people have to fit in a day :)
Does Brow Remover really do all the maps - normal, bump, displacement, SSS? I've wishlisted it for now (my entire budget till the weekend is a mighty $5 so I'm thinking catch-up sale!) I too can do the diffuse fairly well myself but the others are too daunting.
Really like the new releases for today, but the mega flashgrab seems rather lacking.
Yes.
I applied it to Kenji last night, then checked and all the maps had been altered. I even added new brows using Wow Brows. I had to move the brows up "5" and I only tested a couple of brows. Maybe Wow Brows will be popular enough, Lyoness and DraagonStorm will come out with a version for the guys, with heavier brows and less distance between them... (hint, hint...)
Thank you!
+1 for the guy version too.
Melanie, Kenji was loaded with the default Iray shaders. I've now tried a several figures in 3DL (Darius 6, which loaded in 3DL by default, and both Eva 7 and Lee 7, after applying the All Maps (RSL) presets. In each case, the normal map was not modified. I've mentioned this behavior in the official Brow Remover thread (http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1626151/#Comment_1626151). Hopefully Zev0 or DraagonStorm will have an answer for us shortly.
Just a guess but it might be because normal maps are often in different formats (because their colours need to be exact) and are in general pretty fiddly.
Tomorrow will be the catch-up, and not the final catch-up ? ><
In both the Iray and 3DL shaders I tested, the normal maps were tiffs, and the script had no problem with those in the Iray shaders. Anyway, Zev0 had an answer for me:
And then they fixed it! Yay!
Ahh that makes sense.
If Kalea had been in mega fastgrab today I might have bought her in order to pick up the new character for her (Aiko has been and there's an Aiko character today I wanted but it's encrypted) but instead it's more V4 stuff as it has been pretty much everyday. Poser users must be loving this month's sale.
Thank you again.
Actually I located and read the other thread so I was up-to-date on your 3Delight problems - sounds like the fix will be up and running by the time I make a purchase (still waiting for a cash injection tomorrow!)
You're welcome.
Just a reminder, though, Brow Remover and the other eyebrow products will rotate out of "Still New" tomorrow and be only 30% off. At least until the next catchup sale... (Which Paw Paw predicts will be tomorrow. Hard to say, though. If DAZ keeps the PA sell going into October like they did last year, the catchup sale could be another week or more away...)
ETA: I actually don't use 3Delight very much myself. But I'm sure there are a lot of people who will be happy to know the 3DL issue in Brow Remover has been resolved.
Ah, I love the time zone difference: it's Friday where I am so I was able to snap this up - also got the two brow products and a GC (ready for catchup/PC+ Sales) for only a couple of dollars more than the GC's face value, so I'm a very happy bunny
In my Art Studio thread, I told folks over a day ago that I had accidentally found the weekend catchup sale pages
So no surprise, we knew it was coming this weekend. (they had it labeled as a test page) Someone else found the 1800 items page and posted that too. (the Mega pages I think)
Sooo... Day 1's items aren't all of the new items, right?
Does that mean Day 2 will no longer have Day 1's items?
I don't see why they would have split it up like they did if they were going to leave the stuff that's part of today's deal in tomorrow.
I think it's to encourage people to buy more debut releases across different days. The last catchup had all PAs, which meant that some people could get away with buying just one new release if they wanted to buy a bunch of back-catalogued stuff.
Also, no stacking today, as far as I can tell :(
Which is really discouraging for people who bought the same items earlier.
Oooh, and my prize today was another year of PC+ for just $17.50 - well, I had to pick up one of the $7-ish pose sets to get the 75% off, so another way to look at it is that I got the Year's PC+ for 65% with a pose set free.
Hey MelanieL, thanks for bringing that up. Have a quarterly membership since a while which happens to end in just one week. So I better get me that 1 year option for the same price a a regular quarter. Anybody knows whether I have to cancel the existing one first before buying the new one. Or would be quarterly no longer reccur once I've bought the year-option?
It will add the 1-year to the end of whatever your current membership is. Even if that's a few months out.
If you use PayPal, you will have to cancel the old one. Check under "Recurring payments" in PayPal.
aha they did add more items and not remove the old ones. Sucks for anyone that bought something to fill the numbers yesterday.
Seriously Daz's sales tactics make me want to stop shopping altogether sometimes. Maybe if I'd have gotten one of those lucky 40% gift cards I might buy something but I'm pretty put off right now.
This Split-Up sale . ><
I only got one item yesterday. It was still cheaper on its own than with the triggering new item. Percentage off isn't everything.
Today I loaded up the cart, trimmed it down again to a semi-affordable level, shrugged and went "There's always another sale." Emptied out the cart.
Of course, should I win the lottery tonight, tomorrow may be another story.
True - I'm not trying to say that the initial deals aren't good. 40% off a brand new item is still decent. But when it appears with something else you wanted the very next day and now they're both 50% off combined, there is no positive effect towards the customer.
If I won the lottery tonight the PAs would be VERY HAPPY indeed. lol I know a handfull of PAs that I'd basically buy every one of their products (I like them that much! lol). :) One PA I have like 98% of her items in my wish list.
