Cheers! I hope you have fun with it!
Both items on my WL again today, but an interesting (to me) observation --
Freebie: a more recently added one, Daz Dealz says it commonly drops to about $3.35. (Again haven't been tracking it long so don't know much more than that)
Paid: a G8 jacket that's been on my WL for over a year, has been on Outlet for $2 and QG for $1 and was offered on a freebie list in August. Lower base price but higher SKU than freebie
I've found the Advent Calendar rather hit and miss this year.
I was very happy for the first 6 days, because all my offered freebies were from my wishlist. Than I had a couple of random freebies, then two more days of good ones, but the last three days have been back to randoms. (Although all my paid-for options so far have been from the wishlist)
I'm a bit disappointed considering that I made the effort to add more DOs of the right sort of age and price range to my wishlist, so that I now have more there than I had at the start of the month!
I removed texture addons for outfits i don't own from my WL before this sale but one that survided my purge was my freebie today :(
$24.95 is the highest priced freebie I've seen reported in this thread (>$30 for the paid)
My latest restock is still giving me paid-for items from my WL (I have around 40 qualifying items)
It is now the 4th day since I've bought anything and I still got an Advent Calendar freebie so that is nice. I no longer get the "You've been good." freebie though, lol.
Halfway through the month, my stats:
Freebie:
SKU range 53751 - 80187 (outlier: 43xxx on the first day; I only had one punch then in case it matters)
Price range: $16 - $25 (first day was in the middle-ish of that range)
Paid:
SKU range: 84939 - 91979 (outlier: 66xxx on the first day)
Price range: $17 - $30 (outliers: $16 the first day, $12 on the 13th day) (really that $17 was an outier, too; most have been in the mid-$20's. I got $30 twice, and one of them was with only 2 punches)
All have been on my WL.
First time for me that the freebie wasn't one of my wishlisted items a G8 core figure expression pack. went with the cheapie G9 clothing option. Little surprising since I have 101 G8 or G8.1 Daz originals on my wishlist, but looking at the list a good chunk are bundles. I probably should go through the bundles and add the individual pieces that I want from them the most to my wishlist as well to increase my possible pool for freebies.
A word of advice for anyone who was getting items from their wishlist and aren't anymore. If the number of your qualifying wishlist items drops below whatever threshold Daz has set, the advent calendar will likely start acting like you don't have qualifying items anymore. If you're playing the punchcard game and getting both a free and paid item each day, then that's two items knocked out of contention every day. The calendar won't offer the same things to you a second time (or at least it hasn't in the past), so your pool gets smaller every day. That might mean adding more items in periodically to keep your threshold up.
I started the month with 400+ items on my wishlist which should qualify, and I'm still getting two wishlisted items each day. I'm still adding DOs to my list which should qualify when I come across them.
Like Joanna, I want to help others get things they want from the advent calendar. That means gaming the system a bit.
I think Richard Haseltine said it should, but did someone tested if paying for a new subscribtion kept punches going?
I have never seen a punch. Do you get a message saying you have a punch?
You see them on the Holiday Sale page. Below I attached a screenshot logged on with my id (3 punches) and my husband's (no punches) - the green present with a tick appears to show how many you have.
Today I've gotten my most expensive free item yet, it's this one: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-queen-of-egypt-outfit-for-genesis-8-females. Originally, I put in in my WL thinking that it could serve as a paid option (which I usually don't take), and I was so surprised when I was offered it today as a freebie. It's actually a really nice set if you don't yet own it, it even includes the hair. Very generous gift, I thought.
Same here - first week or so was great, then random items. Atm a WL item here and there.
All good until for me 3 days ago. Now it's all random. I guess I'm back to normal buying with occasional interesting items showing up in one of the other ways.
I'm still consistently getting wishlist items for both free and paid. All I can recommend is: add more DOs. Seriously, if you just add 3-4, I don't think it'll make any difference unless you already had plenty to begin with.
If you want to make it easier on yourself, you can use Utiltarian's excellent bookmarklet filters to filter non-Daz+ DOs in a certain ID range and price range (works on mobile too!) and pick from there. Example of filtering in the screenshot (the ID range I put is 60000-90000, but you can refine it if you're aiming for either cheapie or freebie only; same with the pricing).
That's a really helpful tip! Unfortunately, I've only gotten the filters to work on my laptop yet, not on the iPad where I do my DAZing. I'll give it another shot I guess, adding DOs in the right range by hand is kinda tiresome. I've been really lucky with the calendar so far, though.
Just an additional tips: the price range filter is applied on the current price, not the base price, so the Daz+ / Premier discount need to be taken into account otherwise, a lot of items with base price higher than $25 will appear in the filtered selection.
Just the obvious troubleshooting question: did you use the mobile version of the filters on your iPad?
Oh, yeah, good point! At least it will filter out some of the items that aren't eligible because of the price.
I was excited for about 20 seconds this morning. The sale mentioned 60% off select items in my wishlist.
Nothing in my wishlist showed 60% off. Most items showed no percentage off. Others showed more than 60%.
I just don't have the mental or emotional capacity to cope with this.
Some stats to share here too: Got a 92xxx SKU for the paid item yesterday, mostly in the 80k-92k range for paid through the month. Freebie was 87xxx SKU, generally 70k-80k range through the month, but I don't have too many <70k items so that probably contributes
.
In all cases the freebie is the lower SKU, seemingly irrespective of the full price.
Everything from WL with full punches all month so far.
My stats (only items I chose)
Free: SKUs 46000-83000, $16-23
Paid: SKUs 52000-89000, $17-25
Notes: Non-member prices
My SKU & price ranges may skew slightly lower because many of my WL DOs are older (Dog 8, Horse 3, G8, etc.) or are things that tend to be less expensive (shaders, textures for owned clothing, etc.).
If anyone is looking for a fun, possibly silly little thing to pad out the freebie pool, may I suggest:
https://www.daz3d.com/ninja-yoyo-accessory-for-genesis-8-male-81
It's been sitting on my WL for ages because I don't specifically /need/ it, but... yo-yo! (And so many texture options!) Now I have it for free!
@joanna, thanks for coming back to this - I just don't seem to get how to use them at all on iOS. I know one is to bookmark them, and then call them up, but my browser doesn't seem to want to remember the bookmark name, so it never shows up. And if I call it up via Last used menu, it doesn't seem to work. I know I must be doing something wrong on a general level, just can't seem to figure it out. But at least I got them working on the laptop, which is so great already!
I didn't get any freebie today. Both options would involve a payment. Pretty bummed out.
did you test it in the cart, not the popup but the actual cart page
https://www.daz3d.com/checkout/cart
About two or three days ago, I found items I had not wishlisted appearing on my Calendar and I had to take what was offered. Up to that point I had been offered a number of G9 and late G8.1/G8 assets. So I went back to adding more DOs to my wishlist, but focused on G9. Today, was possibly the worse yet. A G8F character (free) and a texture set for an outfit (don't own) I would have to buy.
Did they switch up the program?
Mine has been chugging along at a pretty standard set of parameters, for what it's worth. My first troubleshooting guess is that if it's G9 stuff as your focus, it might be too recent to count. I posted my SKU ranges a couple days ago for both paid and free... I'm not sure it's absolutely representative, but might be a good place to start to check if your SKUs are in that range? (Of course, also entirely understandable if tht's just too much work to put into the whole thing.)
^^^ This. The pop-up cart has absolutely not been reliable this sale. I often have a second tab open on my browser for my actual cart, and go over and hit refresh when I add things if I want to see what the actual price is.
There is a way to tell if a product free for you is really free right from the pop-up cart: the pop-up cart will only apply the base discount, so as an example, a Daz Original will only have a 30/35% discount for a member.
Edit: by for you, I mean a product that is not free for everyone, so the On the nice list item fall under that category. /Edit
If someone has a bundle they can get for free (because they own everything in that bundle), they can check it themselves, otherwise, here's an example:
I don't have any product in the Arcadia 8.1 Pro Bundle, it currently has a 71% base discount (for a Premier member) and the pop-up cart did apply an extra discount related to punches. On the other hand, I own everything in the Horse 3 bundle, it also has a 71% base discount but the pop-up cart did not apply the extra discount related to punches.
And the real cart:
