It's a it of a dud though.
I guess that's for everyone to decide for themselves. My cart is and was empty, but I'm passing the news along. Maybe someone will find something worth there or has expiring tokens.
If you missed out on buying the SE Polaris Elevator on day 1, the price has been lowered again. When you put it in the cart, it's not $2.99 but actually $1.99. Glitch or gift, who knows.
I have to take that back. The second banner that came after first one did have some ovelap so managed to get some nice discount one one artists at least.

Can you not use tokens with SCARY-DEAL?
No mention of criteria on sale page. Thought I'd get the Michale 7 Pro bundle for my background NPCs, but its not letting me discount further with 8 tokens. Max I'm getting is 70%.

Sue Yee really lost a client by abandoning G8. I hope the obvious sales tanking will make her revert her position.
Scary-deal doesn't work due to unwritten rules, so, thanks but no thanks... I'll just pass...(like... it "works," but, though not written anywhere, tokens and doorbuster discount don't stack, so it's useless, thus, whatever...)
While I sympathize with the frustration of not having one's preferred generation supported... wouldn't it make more sense that the PA made a calculated decision based on sales trends for their products and return-on-investment for $$ vs. time spent? I doubt they woke up one day and went "Gee, I'm bored doing G8, let's just drop it and see what happens to my income." I mean, maybe they did. But it would seem like a rash move for someone trying to make a living off it.
Obvious and tanking are very confident words! We don't know the sales figures, but there is a 3D store that both sells Daz content and publishes sales stats, so indulge me for a moment. That store is not a particularly busy or important market (except for a couple of creators), so this is as speculative as anyone else could be, but we can see that products that support G8 and G9 sell the most. The top selling G9 only product appears to have outsold the top selling G8 item by a smidge over 3 times as much. In absolute honesty, I didn't look too much beyond that, but at least I looked. I'd only add that other marketplaces also tend to favour older content because that's where the buyer goes when they can't get that content from the official store here.
Obvious tanking? Wider figure support probably does drive more sales, but it's more a question of whether the time needed to chase those sales is a profit or loss on the time a creator could put into an entirely new product. Truly, who knows the perfect answer to that for every vendor in every marketplace? My wager would be it's not worth it because there is already so much choice out there for G8, and those products can be had cheaper because they're older and passive income for their creators.
Whether or not there will be an "obvious sale tanking" worth reconsidering remains to be seen.
Of course, they will probably lose some sales on a given product from people who want G8 content. The question is how many, and if gaining back those extra sales would justify spending time making a G8 version of the same outfit instead of working on the next G9 product.
Let's say for example that it takes a third more time to make a product for G8 and G9 than for G9 only (I have no idea if that's realistic. It's not twice the work since some elements can be reused, but that's still quite a it of work to support a second, very different figure, so it might take longer than that). That means in the same amount of time you can create either 3 products for both figures, or 4 products for G9 only. Will the extra sales (and possibly price difference) from having a G8 version of 3 products bring as much revenue as selling a 4th G9-only product? Maybe, maybe not. When G9 was just released, the anwser was most likely yes, but nowadays that may not be the case anymore.
In the end, vendors will choose what bring them the most return on investment because they have bills to pay too.
Well I dont know bout the trend but I also stopped buying so thats at least -2 clients I can confirm.
In the end though G8 will phase out just as G3 did and generations before. So I am not making a stand here.
Can for sure say though that G10 will have to bring some revolutionary features like new Dforce, JCMs or Soft body mechanics. I aint moving on just for some more plygons and 16k maps to put me on NVIDIA debt list.
PAs gotta do what's best for them. By now, G9 is well established and is the most current figure. Can't ding anyone for using the figure as a base for products. There's still an impressive back catalog here. G8 is still well supported on Rendo and other places - still even some new figures coming out. Even so, time marches on and change is the only constant.
also, My understanding is, rigging and jcms are the most time consuming activity for garments and clothing; and that has to be redone per figure supported. There are clones and converters for clothing so maybe is not such a big deal?
SCARY-DEAL overides some of the discounts applied to the affected item. I added a featured item first in my cart to take advantage of the coupon. After adding other items and tokens my discount was 86%. After applying the coupon the dicount was 70%
Question for those that Subbed for DAZ+ for a month this month. Do you see any discount if you were to upgrade for Anual Premier? (i mean a price bellow current 149.25, even a tiny bit)
Reason is, i might get the money to get the premier anual, but before that i would like to take advantage of Better than DAZ+ (lost it on the polaris for the most part, and today is this gorgeous hair). Nothing at the beggining of this sale (when i was still subbed) interested me, but things (in this category) has improved for my taste.
Today's Special advertisement clearly states that you gt an EXTRA 50% discount (with coupon) on any one item excluding gift cads, licenses, and memberships. This is clearly NOT what you get with any Doorbuster, Debute, or Still New item. DAZ needs to honor their offers!
...that is why I picked up both the G9 - G8 character and clothing converters The nice thing with the clothing converter is it has scripts for both genders.
Now hair is a different story as there are no conversion utilities for it.. As I understand manual fitting can be hit or miss due to whether the hair is stand based or transmapped and does/doesn't have a cap.

I bought the dForce SU Shower Towel for Genesis 9 by Sue Yee, and it looks like it could provide for lots of funny scenes with my typically cliche ideas. But I'm so burnt out from these many weeks of sales that I just couldn't focus my eyes anymore and ended up with only the towel and the free shelf. I mean, it took all day today just organizing data and promos for the last couple of weeks of orders! I have TONS more to download!
I also feel a little guilty about making an order that totals probably about as much as it cost the company to pay in card cashing fees!

After some deliberation whether I want to built a cart or not with 50% extra on a doorbuster, I just settled for XI Japanese Town. With the coupon, it went down to $2.99, and I got cheveybabe25's new hair too. Other than that, there was a sale on audiobooks, so I bought those instead.
I continue to be out of luck with this month's sales. There are deals to be had but just not on anything I need.

Same story here. All I got was the Better Than Daz+ hair. That deal is the best part of the sale.
Not a single item I wanted went DOWN with that coupon.
Directly when it popped up yesterday I created a cart, using the coupon on an 80% item (with doorbuster) that went duly down to 90%. Joy!
When I came back an hour later to buy, it had gone up as the stacking was cancelled. Unjoy.
So neither that 90% item nor the doorbuster got bought.
