Here is a quick reality render.

Do not take it as seriously as the Iray render though. There are way too many adjustments/enhancements you can make to the image from inside the renderer without calling it post-work so it's not as authentic represenation of the product as the Iray render.

So I played with the film and color response in lux to get the picture I wanted : )

Very minor post-work on the lips, I adjusted the color a bit since they were too pink by default and I did not feel like going back to DS to change the material there.

The clothing is very niche and not too useful and all the guys are clean shaven and remind me of Michael 7. I need some beard stubble. If that is included I'd be grateful to know. Nevertheless I will probably buy pro. I just need the unshaven more rugged mature dude look.

I'm not buying encrypted stuff unless it is free with purchase.

I'm glad there is at least one facial hair option included with Gianni.

could someone who purchased G7 do a quick render of him with M7, both in their factory default shapes?

Oh yes there are, this seems to be the product with flex morphs to simulate flexing muscles - http://www.daz3d.com/musculature-hd-morphs-for-genesis-3-male-s

Thanks for pointing that out lx, it will be on my wishlist now : )

Yup, that was the one I was talking about. I need to pick it up too at some point; looks super useful.

  • Small cut 'n' paste error in Gianni 7's details page:

Key advancements with the Genesis 3-based Gianni 7 include:

    Increased detail (Read More)

Michael has increased detail in his fingers, toes, neck, mouth and chest, giving him more realistic human characteristics than previous generations.

    Thanks for the renders Toyen!

Here they are, both out of the box.

Rendered in DS 4.9 with no post-work.

I love them both but I love Gianni just a little bit more : )))

So what do you guys think?

Thank you, I wanted to see the differences and similarities between the two. This is exactly what I needed.

Thanks Toyen -- I prefer Gianni's squarer face, but as Barbult mentioned previously, his nipples sure are pushed way over to the side! One of those things that once you see it, you can't un-see it. smiley

I was expecting bulkier. I mean Gianni 6 was a beast.  Toyen's render looks a little beefier than the promos (umm... its time for the DAZ art department to sit up and take notice that many of the customers don't care for their style dictates; or at least, that's how it seems), but still not as beefy as I expected from a new Gianni.

I will probably get him, mostly because the I like the outfits and hair in the bundle...more Bobbie25 is always a good thing for your runtime.

Giani would kick M7's butt! You can really see the difference when they are side-by-side. Thanks for the render.

I'm getting him if only because of the discount.  Not to fond of generation 7 males, too much much pink lips and cartoonish features for my taste and as usual one black guy in the whole bunch. As a matter of fact Dash for Michael 7 is the only G3M character I use. And with the lack of diversity among the figures, Daz has the nerve to release on of the few black female characters as connect only? Got way too much Daz content and if holding the ethinc characters hostage in connect universe is where this is heading, I shoukld have a lot more money in my pocket from now on. Just looked at the Gianni 6 pro bundle. Seems to me like we got a little more items with him.

I really wish there were some sort of flex JCMs, I tried to put him into a muscle flex pose, but it just does not look right since the muscle isn't really there : D

When I saw that product I wondered why the different morph projects seem to get farmed out to different vendors.  It was the first muscularity set that I didn't buy because I was less than impressed with the detail. Perhaps it is that the morphs look exaggerated and unrefined when singled out, or that they are emphasized for the promos... but I was disappointed enough (and with my past experiences with the artist) that I did not buy it and probably won't until I am somehow convinced that it is better than it appears.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Mec4d unshaven for g2 was pretty successful on g3 as well?

I'm not too keen on G7 face either. He seems more cartoonish than either G6 and M7. As usual there's the focus on model looks with little diversity. I find this really doesn't reflect where I live in London which is pretty diverse and not populated by models. Great renders in this thread though.

I don't know guys but I find Gianni's face pretty realistic, he actually slightly reminds me of one person I know : )

In general, male models tend to be more realistic looking than females in my opinion.

Except for teens, those are always straight outta pixar cartoon, male and female : )

I don't think he looks cartoony at all. Also I love the model look. If I need to make him look "normal" that's what morphs are for.

I actually really like the new faces for gen 7 men. They look hot! I really loathed the weird squeeze head look on Genesis 2. What I need badly though are more skins and more clothing in the sci-fi range and of course unusual alien types.

I think I'm on $57: but these different figures don't inspire - there is a declared reduction for Gia 7, which is nice. But now I wonder should I just forget it if I can't work out why some people are getting things for less. I don't have the Egyptian bundle, but I don't see why that is relevant.

There are three different discounts involved, depending on what you've purchased previously (or today, if so inclined):

    - Platinum Club: 51% off base price for two week introductory price

    - Egyptian Bundle: Additional discount for all Daz Original figures released in Gianuary -- er, pardon, January; additional 30% off for five days after release -- that said, the banner on this says BOTH that it's good for five days AND that the offer expires 1/29, which means that Daz has misplaced the end of the month somewhere. Give us our two days back!

    - Gia 7 bundle purchase, additional 20% for ... some amount of time that I don't know because unless there's a layered banner somewhere, they're not telling us on the promo page.

The discounts are stepwise -- 30 percent off, then 30 percent off the remainder, then 20 percent off THAT -- rather than stacking (30 percent off the base price X 2 plus 20 percent off the base price, all deducted from the base). My math brain is currently down with the flu. But let's give it a go and see.

Gianni 7 Pro bundle base price: 134.95.

30 percent off that base for 2-week introductory price: subtract $40 (ish). Discounted price: $94.47

51 percent off $135 base price for Platinum club introductory price brings the cost down to 66.13. (Not a stacking/stepwise discount, apparently; it's just 51% off for Plat Club for new Daz Originals, absent some other intervening sale.)

30 percent off THAT for Egyptian Bundle, if purchased at time of release: subtract $19.80. Total: 46.33 (deducted first because this bundle came out before Gia)

20 percent off THAT for Gia 7: subtract $9.30. Total: 37.03. Which is what some people are reporting seeing in their cart.

I like the trend of two Daz characters a month, one female, one male. Please continue, I'm really looking forward to this last week of the month.

See, now that you've said that out loud the magic is gone.  DAZ will resume with 10 new female packs a month with 1 male pack every 3 months.  DAMN YOU!  cheeky

Here are 2 quick portraits. First Iray, no post-work. Second Octane plugin demo, no post-work.

With the Octane plugin however, the polygons are showing up in the render even though all surfaces are set to "Smooth".

Come one guys! Let me see your Gianni renders! : )

  • I think Gianni 7 is gorgeous- will definately be using him.

But yes, a Native American/ Spanish type would be wonderful. For the Native American, I'd wish for morphs for the eyes and cheeks to get the true 'Asian' look that many have. Anyone seen a morph for this for the guys?  The morphs that I've seen just make the eyse almond, they don't get the eyelid and the fat areas under the eyes right....

*Sigh* He's gorgeous but can't afford him- yet! Spent way too much on all the other sales this weekend. I'll have to put that hottie at the top of my wishlist! Mmm mmm good!

In octane, you'll need to up the sub division manually.
