Not quite a taur, but along the same lines... drider.

I'll put it here as a simple URL for the arachnophobes: http://willbear.deviantart.com/art/Drider-608725995

This is my first iray render. I also started playing around with the emissive for the sphere primitive. I'd like to include something to put 'mist' right around it, or otherwise break up the obviously featureless sphere texture.

Try the bloom filter in render settings. Increase threshold to about 8000-10000 and maybe reduce the two other settings if you need it.

Well, that worked just as advertised!

That looks much better with the bloom!  Uh, you might want to lift your figure up just a little as his shoe is currently stuck in the ground just a smidge.  Nice going, though, with your first Iray image!

edit to add:  Overall, you did a great job!

I really like bloom. Yeah, with some work you can do it in post, but it saves enormous time to tweak it in render.

Cool! Much better now. Glad it worked how you wanted it.

Going on to another idea - I set up the stone on his necklace and the stone of the archway to be emissive, and added some shaders in... then noticed that there seems to be nothing past the archway. No sky, no nothing. I fiddled around with the various dome/sky stuff - before, it was set to 'sun/sky only' and about, oh, 9AM. So I tried with the default environment map and could see nothing except the same kind of blurred background you see here. Then I applied (or thought I'd applied) an HRD texture from HDR Outdoor Environments - um, maybe. I don't see the Environment Map change on the Render Settings, so... I'm uncertain of how to apply that thing.

    And moar...

(Original texture in trans color, surface texture from WTZ shader)

...looks like something our game group encountered on one of our recent dungeon crawls. Nearly took out half the party.

And in my 'zany taurs' list... ELETAUR!

It's not the recent elephant, older model, + elebeast.

    ..I like it.

Usually you can find the HDR environments in render settings -> presets; doble clicking the HDR should change your render settings to dome and scene and use that HDR in the environment map. If not, click on the image of the environment map and browse to it yourself. Always make sure that Draw Dome is ON too.

My very first iray render (that I'm showing at least).  Not quite ready for prime time, as I'm still learning to master lighting and other aspects of the dials, but I can see that the concept will work.

    That was weird.

I was at Render Quality 10 and 73% convergence. Then thought ... yeah, maybe drop that. I dropped it to RQ 5... and convergence dropped to 60%.

    Um. wot?

...sounds like our streetcar. I'll look up at the tracking board and it says "arriving in 6 minutes", then look up again a couple minutes later and it reads "arriving in 9 minutes".  Must be some sort of spacetime error occurring.

Speaking of which what exactly does the Render quality setting do? I cant seem to find any real answer.

Testing a new costume I recently bought. Materials look great with just applying the Iray Uber Base shader.

My first custom sculpted head morph for G3F. Called her Lily : ) Skin textures are from Cailin by Raiya.

Another test of my shader. Everything in here uses my shader, it's all procedurally generated patterns, no texture maps of any kind.

Most of the intelligence community doesn't believe he exists. The ones that do call him the Winter Soldier. He's credited over two dozen assassinations in the last 50 years.

    G2M, kitbashed his outfit/weapons, mostly V4 & M4 stuff except the arm, that's for G2M I just retextured it.

For this one I changed all the surfaces to Iray in the purple/violet hues, then decided I liked it best in B&W LOL...
