Well it looks to me they haven't fixed it. You should see what it was like before deleting the meshes that were causing some issues.

Thanks and yeah gearing up getting some ideas but I am not sure realism is the way to go these days. :)

Shame about the Iray issues with overlapping transmapping which made me delete some of the fine feather mesh with the Geometry Editor Tool, but all in all I am happy-ish with the result.

This had a little postwork done in Photo Effects 8 just to make it pop a little more.

    Wow very nice

oh the water is just a cube and I used the Geometry Editor Tool in DS to make a new surface zone for the top and applied a bump and displacement map with using this technique http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/53695/P660/#835496 (thanks Steve) on the whole cube.

    ...looks very photographic.

Hey, didn't I see you by the lagoon at the neighbourhood park with a camera this afternoon? ;-)

what other settings did you use on water szark? I'm working on a water image and the water looks awful, not like lake water at all. i've tried a bunch of changes but it looks rather like crap. :( Yours looks awesome!

I dont know what the bug is about overlapping transparency? What's that?

I did have an issue with hair not showing up, at ALL,until the render.... very strange indeed. can't see it, can't morph or pose it. :( Had to open new daz instance, set up the hair, save a scene and merge. Still invisible but at least posed and shows up in final render.

If you followed that link I posted above and choose the right shader preset to start of with these are the only functions I changed

    Diffuse Colour 137,137,137 (sRGB 0.25, 0.25, 0.25)
    Diffuse Weight 0.70
    Reflectivity 0.70
    Glossiness 1.00
    IOR 1.33
    Transparency 1.00
    Refraction Glossiness 0.85
    Absorption Distance 100.00

As for the trans bug it was mentioned in the general release thread and also if I am not mistaken in the Tips and Tricks.

Ok the bug I was referring to was reported to be fixed however I may have stumbled on to another. With some help I hope to get it reported.

I am glad my small contribution helped. Very nice render.

Is there any thread yet about creating mdl shaders? I have been creating various shaders (layered texture maps / layered procedural noise shaders etc), but cannot find a thread to share my findings/shaders.

Iray is a VERY welcomed addition to my art! I also do commercial renders from time to time and this will greatly help bring people to hire me!

Here is a V4 version of a sweaty Lara Croft using sweat shaders from Sharecg that was rendered in Iray in about 15 minutes. Also used Iray HDR Studio lights

I Used some of tomtom.w's ShareCG shader set. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The link is in his post signature. Thanks, tomtom.w.
The shaders aren't just for vehicles. I found the brass good for clothing buttons, too. Once before I used his paint for fingernail polish. The leather works on boots and shoes.

Lighting is from HDRI from HDRI-HUB. they are free, released under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License.

    My first iRay render.

    Artemis having a little fun.

Update: The image was completely redone. I fixed several issues. From the pose to the skin shaders. Everything got a new treatment. Even the hair got new shaders. The tiara can now be seen to be gold, whereas before you could hardly see it. The feathers too. There is nothing I can do about the navy-blue feathers. The gloss is baked into the texture. I would have had to mess with that in Photoshop, but that would take more time. I left it. I made them look much better. Her skin now looks natural, before it was flat.

    Excellent render!

Is it save to presume that the 1000 characters i have of M6 and V6, wont look good with the textures provide with them... ?
Also some clothes are a disaster too...
(e.g. the deco bathroom --> character looks awfull)

Umm...as long as you rely on autoconversion of the materials to Iray ones, then no...they will not look good, but rather like something the cat dragged in, back out and then brought up again a day later.

All it takes is manually tweaking the already existing textures to be more Iray specific.

Just applying the Iray Optimized Defaults for either G2M or G2F will work pretty well on the Genesis 2 characters. At the least, it is a good place to start to tweak settings. There are LOTS of postings in the forum with skin, eye, and hair tweak suggestions.

There are just too many variables to count on an autoconversion doing a good job. Manually applying the Iray Optimized makes sure that, at least at a basic level, everything is set to work in Iray.

Yep, single HDRs is what I have been using. Although I have no idea how to make the render not stop so soon. I believe it can go for more as my images still look grainy. As you can tell by looking at my Artemis render in my previous post.

...In Render Settings > Progressive Rendering:

Set the maximum render time higher (I have mine set to 8 hours (28800 seconds)

Set the samples higher (I have it set at 15,000)

    Set the convergence to 99%
