Sadly, no it won't work - we've had an update from DAZ and the freebie, while remaining free for three days, will earn a Rev Up only today.
I do appreciate the freebie and the Rev that goes with it, as the new releases today weren't on my radar. Hoping tomorrow...
The free item isn't giving me a discount.
A lot of people are making a big thing about this "Rev Down" concept, but it is no different than many previous punch sales, only then the whole discount vanished at the end of the week. I do not see the big difference between those and these new sale games.
I see a massive difference. 1 vs 6 days, but the 1 day doesn't reset every 7 days.
I doubt you will get a rev point for any kind of PC+ item, they where excluded from other punch type sales in the past (other that the PC sale month), and I am sure it will be the same this time as well.
It says so on the disclaimer somewhere on the page (you know, the fine print)
I have to wonder if anyone actually plays the stupid DAZ games anymore? If you want the best price, just wait two months or so and PA items will be on sale for 50-60% off, while the D.O.s will be 65-70% off.
According to MaleM3dia and Zev0, the majority of PA sales are made during the first two weeks of an item's release. This applies to Rendo as well. So apparently, there are plenty of people willing to play this low-down game.
Yeah, this sale has a lot of problems:
--Punitive measures against those who don't have the money (or interest) to buy one product per day
--Sale rules are very complicated and confusing in addition to being described very poorly. What is sorely needed is a bullet-point layout of the full details of the sale. Two examples:
*"Each day you purchase a featured item, you gain an additional 10 percent off any Rev-Up featured item, still featured, and featured artists product, for a total of 40% plus an additional 40% off the discount price, capping off at a maximum 64% discount"
*"PA members enjoy a 40% discount to their base 30% discount price for DAZ Originals, plus" (whatever the rest of the details ensue)
--Reved up purchases are non-refundable
--Page designer didn't use a spellcheck
yeah to be honest this is a really gimmicy sale and kinda sucks that Platinum Club members get no extra discount.
Eh, technically not true. Like every other sale, the discount is added to the 30% discount you get for Daz originals. In this case, 40% off 30% = 58% discount. No idea if that stacks with the additional 10~40% discount.
in general most items during this sale woulnd't be daz originals though. I am not complaining, that is the point of this event. but that is why some people may have made the plat club comment.
that's not really fair to everyone else, I purchased the bikini today as when I purchased there was no freebie on the page, if the freebie had already been posted I would have gotten it and not purchased the bikini and I also didn't know that the additional 40% meant that I was already getting the max discount and as you can see by all the questions no one really knew how the sale was working. Everyone should get the chance to use it once not just day one and the website should be able to tell who's already used it as their purchase and who hasn't. Can I return the bikini and get the free item for today's purchase and get the bikini or whatever else is offered tomorrow?
Honestly I much prefer the flat 50% we used to always get.
It is just my opinion that DAZ really didn't need to reinvent the PA Sale.
Thought I'd give this silly sale a try anyway. But what I don't get is the time zone thingie, for example: I bought something overnight lastnight a few hrs after the sale started which was technically early tues morning, now if I don't buy anything all day today, even until after midnight tonight, I won't come home 5:00 am wed to see my rev points are gone will I? Anyone know?
Days go by Daz3D local time, UTC/GMT -6 hours. If you bought something when the sale started, you will not lose a point.
It's currently 5PM in DAZ land, so you have seven hours of today to go and then twenty-four hours of tomorrow in which to buy an item (and if you bought an item today, to set your Karen/Scott Revs, you wouldn't - as I understand it - lose more than one of them tomorrow even if you didn't make a purchase - certainly in general skipping a day will cost you only one level of discount, not all of them).
Everything is based on DAZ Midnight which is midnight mountain time zone (DAZ is in Utah). If you bought after the sale began, you bought after midnight which means Sept. 1. To keep all your rev points, you need to buy something after midnight, so anytime during Sept. 2.
Have you ever noticed the new logo looks like an old man yelling at the cat in your avatar?
oops, I didn't mean lose all of them, I meant to say 1 of them. ok, I understand. I just wanted to make sure daz is playing by true time so to speak, because I knew that I should not have to make a purchase until sometime wed before midnight, their time, which is 1:00 a.m. here in usa cst. Thanks to all who explained.
I would gladly do so, if not for the fine print.
Items purchased with REV-UP discount or items that are earned with a REV-UP discount are not eligible for returns or refunds.
Greetings,
I understand it's a matter of principle. But, unless you've run into a lot more issues than I have, I doubt you have used the return/refund feature very much at all. I've got a list of vendors who I won't buy from in sales like this (more often 'at all') because I don't think their items are consistently good enough. But outside of them, the things I ended up using refund/returns on the most were things that I accidentally bought twice. That's not a problem anymore.
It's a matter of balancing your risk/reward ratio. I buy stuff from folks I have confidence in, that I'm going to like. I don't generally have compatibility issues, because I'm a DAZ Studio user. I am a little more 'picky' about what I buy, when returns/refunds are off limits, but it's absolutely never been an issue for me.
Now if you tend to return half of what you buy, regularly have compatibility issues because you use some other 3D tool primarily, or have no feel for what vendors you can have confidence in, that might be a problem.

Greetings,
Actually, I thought @Richard Haseltine's icon looked like a hand about to give a skritch to that nice cat. (And now you'll never be able to unsee it!

Don't allow sales encourage you to buy risky stuff and you should be OK.
I have dropped way too much money here, over the years. IIRC, in all that time, I've returned three items because the functionality did not match the expectations from the promos. I have also returned seven or eight items back in the day when the store couldn't tell you that something you were purchasing had been in a bundle you bought previously. So study the promo renders and if in doubt, ask if someone could show you a detail from the item. You don't have to buy immediately after they go live, you've got at least two days.
Or you can wait 3 days so that the item won't earn a rev-up.
As soon as they trot out the no-return policy, we opt out. We'd rather pay the standard asking price (if it's something we even need) and have the option of the standard Daz3d return policy than be stuck with something that doesn't fit the bill.
ok well this rev up promo may work out easily for a lot of us if it keeps going the way it is, yesterday they offered a free item Decorative Easel Set which counted as a rev up and in today's releases we have not a free item but still a very cheap item Suzan Hair for Genesis and Genesis 2 Female(s) at $2.99 for pc members so us platies can keep getting are revs buying something cheap to keep them going in case we can't or don't want anything else that is of course they offer at least one cheap item per day. There are a few more items offered than yesterday which contained 3 versions of one product and another item was offered late so may be more added later today/night too
That was made really very clear from the start.
Except it isn't listed in the Still Featured section anymore. That said the freebie didn't show itself to me until after I'd bought something yesturday.
There was a clarification made.
TALK ABOUT UNPROFESSIONAL. (Daz, not Cris. Cris only relayed what was originally told)
Cris told me the items would count for three days- yes, I'm the one who asked the original question- and the forums then were read by/told a LOT of us that, and it was widely discussed that we could use that freebie today for our REV up. So legally, they should make this one available for three days. They can clarify for the UPCOMING ones, but you can't tell thousands of people it will count, then say, OOPS, not, sorry it will be a one dayer.
Curious- what time of the day was that posted? It had to be a banner in the store, aka a popup, as people are not required to read the forums. And I never got a banner or a popup.
You can't have it both ways and say "hardly anyone visits the forums" then do A POST with a change like that, and say, "Oh, you should have read that in the forums."
Edit: And to be perfectly clear, I bought other items yesterday and this didn't affect me personally. I started at 40%, bought two things yesterday, and an item today. It's not fair for anyone who is trying to earn the discounts, particularly on limited budgets. SO NOT COOL.
Well, I got the freebie yesterday, got my extra savings to 10%, saw the PC item in the rev-up section and told myself "Hey, that is a nice hair with a very good discount, let's give this a shot and get our meter up to 20%" (yes, I am that verbose when talking to myself; also, I speak to us in the plural, it makes us feel royal).
Bought the hair.
Rev-up not moving from 10%.
Argh.
The featured stores don't match what was in the email. Where's Dragonfly3D?
Edit: Only one item, that's why they don't have the store in the featured stores section. But they put it there in the email.
I believe you'll see 20% on your meter tomorrow.
I don't think so, when I got yesterday's freebie, the discount showed up automatically... unless that was a first day exception?
Try to log out and back in again.
