So...for the items today, is there any way to "work" this sale to get an iClone suite at more than 40% off?  64% would be nice  :)

I already have the 40% extra, so I can't test it, but shouldn't it be possiblke to by the three other items (preferably in three transactions to get the step discounts) and then buy iclone as a fourth transaction at 58% off? Even for the least expensive iclone bundle that weould save you $42.84 which is considerably more than the three other items will cost and if you can use them or wnat the more expensive iclone bundle,  it is really good deal.

btw what is a "still featured" item.

Items that earn Revs are New Featured Items (new releases for that day) and Still Featured Items (new releases from the preceding two days). So, new releases are eligible to earn Revs for three total days once released.

Well, strictly speaking, they don't "earn" Revs, they prevent them from being taken away. Because, of course, if they really did "earn" REV-UPs then it should be possible to REV ON UP beyond 4, when what is actually happening is that if you fail to buy something from DAZ then you'll be THROTTLED BACK as a punishment ... which is why I say that the sale is wrongly titled. It needs to be THROTTLE-BACK because that is an accurate name. REV-UP is not. It's total BS; when was the last time you got into a car and the throttle was ALREADY pushed all the way to the floor?

Well, all sales only benefit people who want the items being offered at the prices listed. As far as this sale goes, they are offering nothing I want. I did add one item to my wishlist, it's something I don't need so I will just wait and see if it's offered at a deep discount in the future.

Either way, this is a gimmick sale and if it makes you open your wallet, then the gimmick worked.

  • I agree that this sale seems full of 'pitfalls' and doesn't look palatable.  The 'multiple days' aspect may help.  But if I can't afford it today... Friday won't be much better.

I have not been able to afford as much as I have been buying in the past.  I used to buy 'cheap stuff' just to keep any 'count' of purchases up for sales.  But budget won't allow that.

And I see a lot of similar items recently.  How many bikinis does Vicky really need?  (OK a runtime library need?)   Also, as pointed out, nearly identical versions of a product is not really 3 choices/new products.

Then there's still the whole bundle count thing.  Buying any bundle only counts as one item but the discounts of the individual items don't match the 'bundle savings'.  That aspect has always been a peeve to me.  Maybe a bundle of 5 things don't count as 5 items (though I don't see why not) but it sure should be more than one.

I doubt I will be participating in the sale that much.  If there's something I think I need or really want, I'll buy it.  But not because I trying to keep a meter pegged.

1 Rev per day, even if you buy multiple items. So I think you could buy an item today, an item tomorrow and an item on Thursday then get 58% off the iClone stuff in a second order on Thursday.

problem is only one rev up per day. Not sure iclone is on discount sale for 3 days.

Unless you have a one-day fillip from the Scott or Karen Pro bundles then you have to earn Revs before losing them becomes an issue - any day you buy a qualifying item you earn a Rev Up, up to a total of four, but they wear out unless refreshed so on a day when you buy no qualifying items you lose a Rev, down to a minimum of zero.

Spam thingy? I merged the threads, so if you were posting that may have broken your post but I don't think it's done anything beyond that. There are certainly no smirches on your profile.

OK thanks. I tried posting right as they merged I think, it told me thread was not valid. So I tried again and got the "your account has activated spam block" or something like that. but seems like I can post so guess all is good.

  • I  like this sale, you start with 40% which is better than normal for new stuff then add on another 10% for each day you bought an iteam for up to four days. Thats not bad either. It's even better if you start on an extra 40%. It does seam a little harsh to not be able to build up a buffer, so if you buy something every day for twenty days but ion the twenty first have nothing to get and instantly be treated a the same as someoen who bought for four days and the took a break. But them the breaks. Purchase management is in order, by the time your up to 64% off there are going to be a tonne of $5 items, if you need to buy three of those you don't want to maintain the 4 revs your still ahead when you get 64% off an item worth $24  and well ahead the more over $24 it is. Naturally it helps if you have a reasonable exchange rate in your favour a $5 item is only about £3.20. I spend more on a pint or a sandwich. Mind you thats £100 over the whole month.

  • I think there is a flood control that stops too many posts in quick succession, you may have tripped that (in which case it was just an imposed pause, not something that will hang around).

Ah, thanks. I missed the "one rev per day part". No problem. I like the promotion. 40% off new items (instead of 30%) is great and the rev up can provide a nice savings boost depending on how much I buy. For me that is just icing on the cake, more is better but even without icing the cake is still great...

    Ciao

...what ever happened to a nice, simple, flat 40% or 50% discount like the major sales events used to offer?

Why all the silly gimmicks? Crikey, I paid my dues learning "new math" back in the 60s.

Ignore the rev ups and you get a flat 40%.  If things you want show up in a sequence that gives you an extra discount, that;s gravy.

    No refunds? No purchase.

    Enough said.

  • All I can say about this sale is that it's going to save me a lot of money, and not because of the discounts.

Wow, Okay so not happy with this sale this whole losing points bit is off.crying

Oh well more money for the PC sale next month.

One hopes that there will be something worth keeping the rev meter up for when the weekend gets here.

(ETA: do you get the feeling that the whole inspiration for this promo was a chance for the DAZ folks to play with the meter graphics?)

  • I can understand giving incentives to get people to make purchases.

However, to punish them by taking away "points" for not buying is just a slap in the face.

  • SimonJMSimonJM Posts: 6,069

Why is everyonw so down on the 'oh my god they are taking points away from us!!!'?  To take them away first they have to give. It's just like "who wants to be a millionaire', "If you get this answer wrong you lose 250 thousand ..." (or however much it is).  No, if they get the answer wrong they keep the 50,000 they have won so far, they cannot lose something they don't have!

  • Okay I am effin baffled by this promotion. And reading the thread didn't really help to shed any light on it...

First, do we start off at 40% off and then cycle back 10% each day if items are not purchased?

Why does the promo page say "Log in to see your savings" when I am logged in? Is the throttle just decoratively at 40%?

How does this discount figure into the standard New and New for PC discounts? Does it come first? Second?

When you "throttle up" with a purchase, does that discount immediately take effect that day? Or does it take effect the next day?

I still have more questions, but these are a good place to start.

Ther is a base 40%, you can build up an extra 40%. If you bought the correct bundles before hand you already have the extra 40%, though to maintain it you still need to buy an item today or if your just starting out buty someting today to get an extra 10% tomorrow, on top of the 40% already given.

For what it's worth there is a free item in the sale today so you could get that 10% tomorrow for nothing, or maintain your 40% for nothing.

    Eh, vote with your wallet.

Personally, if it takes more than a few minutes to take advantage of a sale (like Rev or punches or doing backward cartwheels on alternating Thursdays), I just ignore it. Wait for a low price on stuff you like, then buy them.

Keep a big wishlist, sort it low to high whenever some confusing sale is going on. ;)

yeah to be honest this is a really gimmicy sale and kinda sucks that Platinum Club members get no extra discount.  but i guess the tip would be. hold off towards the end of the month and get a few things one week lol. i dunno. But losing a point does seeem stupid and gimmicy but i guess they dont want EVERYONE to have 80 percent off the stuff so thats why they are doing it like that. LOL. oh well......we'll see.

Thank you for the information. Not that I don't trust you, but can some one official please confirm that this is the case?

Also can someone tell me if what I am seeing (attached) is correct? The "Log in.." when I am already logged in is confusing. Am I at 4? Am I at a different level and the system isn't seeing me as logged in?

And, lastly, can someone correct the Featured Artist Pages? When you click on the link it is first showing all the items that are not eligible. Can't you just not show these items? I know the extremely tiny (and barely legible) text says "excludes PC+ items and new releases." before the link. But those items should not even show up if you are following the endorsed "On Sale" link.
