Similar to one of the other commenters in this thread, I also am unable to convert any shoes successfully with the G8-to-G9 Batch Converter. None of them. All will come out with warped appearances.  Attached is an example of the log file when an attempt was made to just convert one shoe product. I have tried with and without the Foot Converter.  All shoes come out a mess.  I don't understand what that Foot Converter is really supposed to be doing.  Is it somehow supposed to affect the shape of the shoes or just how they get attached to the character?

Notice that I also get this message when executing the program:
'data/RiverSoft Art/Common/RSClothingConversionFunctions.dse' could not be found in a mapped content directory. Check the installation and try again

Attached also is a Content Directory Manager screenshot.  I have uninstalled and then reloaded the program using Daz Installation Manager just in case something initially went wrong.

    Please advise.

Please understand that I know very little of the inner-workings of Daz Studio.  I have had no experience creating clothing, so my knowledge of clothing only consists of clicking on it to make it appear on my characters.  So any explanations of a solution have to be VERY precise and concise, avoiding any terminology that could be confusing.  For example, when you refer to a conversion "mesh" in the instructions, I don't understand what you mean.  When you talk about applying "conformers", I don't know how to do that.  I think I see what you mean when I click on a G8 clothing object and try to fit it to a G9 character, but I don't know what you mean when you say applying a conformer to a clothing item using this batch program.

It looks like the file RSClothingConversionFunctions.dse is missing from the zip.  I will need to make an update.  If you have any of the other clothing converters, the file is in those zips.  If not, PM me and I will give you a link to the file.

I was excited to get this clothing converter because it opens up many more options for getting clothing for Genesis 9 characters. I must be doing something totally wrong though, because so far the results seem pretty wonky. I tried testing it on a simple piece of clothing, the "Basic Wear Sports Bra" from Genesis 8 Starter Essentials. It came out looking pretty warped, as you can see in the first screenshot. I tried loading the uncoverted original on the same Genesis 9 figure without using the converter, just using the built-in autofit, and it came out way better (second screenshot). In both cases it was using the "Bodysuit (tight)" template. Any ideas?

With very tight items, like some underwear and bodysuits, autofit does and has generally worked better. When we designed the CC, we had to choose between underwear fitting right and literally anything else fitting right, so we went with trying to make the process work best with the things that autofit is worst at.

  • When I try to convert “dForce Kimono Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s)” to Genesis 9, DazStudio shuts down.
How can I do a successful conversion?

Ok, I just tried this for all the parts of the dForce Kimono in Daz Studio 4.23.0.1, and it worked for me without crashing.  Which version of Daz Studio are you using?  What is the log?  (After the crash and BEFORE starting DS again, Go to "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Daz 3D\Studio4\log.txt" and only post the end of the log where you are trying to convert something)

     Log file.

どうもありがとう.  The only thing that stands out is that the output directory is strange: D:/KIMONO_DATA/Kimono/KO G8F Kimono.duf.  The output directory should be "My Library" (not My Daz 3D Library) that includes Genesis 9/Clothing in the path.  For example, this is my output directory: D:/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/People/Genesis 9/Clothing.   It should be People/Genesis 9/Clothing added to the first directory listed in the Daz Studio Formats section of the Content Directory Manager (which is usually My Library)

The directory should exist too.  After doing that, try selecting the KO G8F Kimono.duf again and clicking the "Force Convert Item(s)" button.

     Thank you very much.
I tried it but it did not work.
Likewise, it does not convert and DazStudio shuts down.

I tried “dForce Kimono Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s)” and it didn't work at all, but “Kawaii Kimono Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s)” did convert, although it shut down.

I have DazStudio installed on my C drive.
And I have “My DAZ 3D Library” on the D drive.

     I work on multiple computers.
I can be creating a scene on one PC while simultaneously working on rendering on another PC.
Therefore, I need to unify the DazStudio environment on multiple PCs.

I keep all the necessary materials for a scene in one folder, so that I can open that folder and work on the same scene on any PC.
Then, by synchronizing the folder with Cloud, the PCs are synchronized with each other.

Therefore, I tend to put newly converted materials in a project folder and sync it with other PCs rather than in “My DAZ 3D Library” or “My Library”.

    C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library
    D:\My DAZ 3D Library

I am trying these two, switching them up and down.
The C drive has no products installed.
Since the total volume of the product exceeds 3.5TB, it cannot be placed in the boot drive, and is installed in the D drive dedicated to My DAZ 3D Library.

Those should be fine (and that order, My Lib on top, is DEFINITELY what you want).  Obvious questions: is Genesis 9 Essentials installed?  Enough space on C drive?  Any difference using the Genesis 9 Dev Load character vs Genesis 9?

It seems like the crash always happens AFTER the script returns from converting (or not) an item.  If you try and convert 2 items (select two checked items and click force convert), does it go onto the second item and convert it before crashing?  Or does it crash before getting to the second item?

Vo Yonina HD for Genesis 9
MB Anezka HD for Genesis 9 Feminine
     RY Alison for Victoria 8
After uninstalling these three, DazStudio no longer crashes.

It seems that multiple corrective of the same name is being used, which may be affecting the crashes.

The “dForce Kimono for Genesis 8 Female(s)” (Kimono Base.duf) in the same product folder can be converted.
However, “dForce Kimono Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s)” (KO G8F Kimono.duf) still cannot be converted.

I need a traditional G9 kimono that follows proper Japanese etiquette.
Therefore, I cannot use products with wide open collars, short lengths, excessively long sleeves, and sexy arrangements that open the front of the hem with dForce when walked on video.
I want a kimono for G9 that is close to the official design and dimensional proportions, and the kimono that seems closest at the moment is the “dForce Kimono Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s)”, which I would like to convert, hoping that the dForce behavior in the video will work.

Is this thread still being monitored?

I have a situation where something broke where the product will not function at all. It starts, I can import files but not folders, and when I select convert or force convert, it runs through the list of files as if it is working and then ends up with 0 converts after x minutes. The log file just says "skipping." I have tried to uncheck all of the recommened check boxes but that didn't help. I then tried to uninstall and reinstall and still nothing. It seems to have a cache issue but I have no idea what that file(s) would be or where to find it/them if exists

It sounds like the metadata broke in your Daz Studio. Try selecting one of the checked items and clicking Force Convert. If that works, multi-select the items and try Force Convert

    hi, Riversoft...

i ran into an issue trying to convert some swimwear from G3F > G8F > G9.  i selected the 'ignore previously converted files' option, added the files through the 'add files' dialog, and used 'force convert items'.

the G3F conversion worked just fine, but the G8F > G9 conversion bogged down.  the script doesn't attempt to convert the items; it converts 0 items in 0 second, and returns the inexplicable error "Input filename does not have clothing in its path".  this despite its path being: E:/oh3D/DAZ 3/Library 3/People/Genesis 8 Female/Clothing - Converted from G3F/School Sports Outfits Clothing/Clothing SSO Swimsuit B.duf.  (you'll note that i've added "clothing" to the names of the files and their containing folder, on round two of my attempts to convert the items.)

i'm using the current stable release of studio 4.24.

any idea what's happening, or how to successfully force convert the files?  help!

The script is looking for a folder name that is "Clothing", nothing else, not one that contains the word clothing.
