It's worth pointing out, the bi-weekly freebies are labeled "weekly freebies" on the homepage, regardless of accuracy, so if people are confused, it's only because they've been fooled.
Can't post the image because the forums are buggy as hell today, but the "weekly freebies" link on the homepage goes to https://www.daz3d.com/free-3d-models not anything PC specific. However, they don't seem to be updating it bi-weekly either these days and they haven't put anything that isn't ancient or useless texture expansions in so long, I'm shocked they still bother putting that on the front page. I think it's mostly still up to fool newbies. That or the website maintenence staff has all died of Covid.
Back when they were updating freebies, I found it annoying that their splash image was that gorgeous G3/G8 scifi environmental render featuring assets that I don't believe have ever been freebies, while the actual offerings were usually outdated V4 and G1 era assets with the occasional G2 bundle.
EDIT: buggy, buggy site. Had to delete images, trying again to get them in.
Well - two months ago we got the Kalea 7 Starter bundle ... not that bad.
That's reassuring. Always exciting when the bundles hit the freebies but very rare (though I understand it for the bundles). Plus, that was two months ago. I missed it since the freebies are so rarely worth getting even when they're free these days (and I still use G2/G3 content) so I don't bother checking regularly these days. Worthwhile freebies are not the norm though, even if they're a fun surprise.
As mentioned we got Kalea 7 in January, and we've started getting Genesis 3 content (I believe 1 starter bundle, 2 characters, and some pose sets so far.) Last year we had several Genesis 2, Genesis, and Generation 4 core characters. It's only these last few months that the freebie section has been neglected like this. I really hope this is temporary and ends soon... I always enjoy the freebie section.

An Attempt of a "Limited Time Freebie" Message Only Email Alert Thread

Most of the time the people are really only posting about new limited time freebies. Most of the time, that's why I called it an attempt ...
That's pretty light, but you're correct, I see I do have G3 content that had to to have been freebies, but they're so rare I forgot about them (I skipped that generation, since G8 was released so quickly), They're not unheard of, but it's still exceptionally rare for G3/G8 content to make the freebies. G3 and G8 have been out for years, so 1 bundle, 2 characters and some pose sets isn't much, especially for users who care more about about clothing and hair.
Freebies are icing on the cake. It is a generous gesture, usually left to individuals by most companies. I'm not going to complain about them at all. My preference would be for the page to be labelled less inaccurately, either by making it truly weekly, or the label changed to 'Current Freebies' or one that reflects an update schedule that is adhered to.
Regards,
Richard.
Basically, yeah. There was no rotation of freebies beyond promotional specials and giveaways when I started Daz, so for me it's less an issue of entitlement to freebies, and more of a frustration that they're advertised as "weekly" but rarely updated, and the promotional/splash images related to freebies are insultingly misleading regarding the kind of content that typically makes it into the freebies bin. I just dislike disengenuous advertising.
I'll won't complain when they delete the freebie page either - which I've assumed for a while is their plan given the current status of the freebie page.
I was particularly jazzed when this bundle was put up for free by DAZ last year:
https://www.daz3d.com/super-suit-super-hero-content-bundle
Not only does this (staggering misleadingly named) bundle contain three early Stonemason urban environments, it also contains the Firearm Pack, the M2A2 Bradley, the M1025 HUMVEE, and the UH60 Blackhawk Helicopter, the last of which was pulled from the store ages ago (but is still available via the bundle).
It's little surprises like that which still make it worth checking the freebies page every week. One minute they're lulling you to sleep with their Poser era fairytale unicorn fluff, and the next minute -- KERPOW!!
Can't really knock anyone on the content they want to give away on the biweekly page, but the PC+ freebies, we are paying for. I get with 52 different offerrings, I'm not going to like everything, or not everything is going to be something that appeals to me. I do find the plants useful even if I'm getting a little fatigued. However lately, it feels like if we're not getting a plant or a bot, PC + is becoming a testing ground for new vendors who need a little more practice with their modelling skills. It just adds to the growing complaints about the lack of quality control. Frankly, I've beens seeing free sets on other marketplaces that blows away some of the paid assets here in terms of quality. While I'm not going to complain about what they want to give us free, I do feel like the lack of attention given to them lately underlines a broader probalem that makes me second guess just about every paid item that does look linteresting.
Yeah, some of the freebies made by the community are amazing! QA is sometimes better too, ironically.
Are you trying to warn me that DAZ has dispatched assassins to kill me in my sleep... ?
Honestly, I can't say I didn't see this coming, nor that I don't deserve it... but thanks!
Probably fluffy pink unicorn assasins.
I find it odd how much of it is Poser only and quite old.
Hey Brian, that's because you own most of the stuff already. Do you see a note like "3 of 12 Items" at the top of the list? Just uncheck "Hide Items I Own" and you'll see that you already have most of the 12 items.
Like right now, they're picking on Little Ladyfox. All it's showing me is 3 of her older Poser unicorn items. If I uncheck "Hide Items I Own" I see 5 "Star 2" items I already have, a DAZ Studio unicorn item, a texture for the angel votive, and a "moon broom". Now, some of these items I bought (I remember a big Star 2 bundle) and some I got on the free items page in years of lore.
That's life for those of us with lots of stuff. Welcome to the club!
Well, when I started here there was one freebie each week - it was new stuff like nowadays the PC+ freebies (non PC members have to buy something to get them free).
Once upon a time.
And as for Poser stuff: yay! I still like Poser (and Bryce, and DazStudio).
Sooooo - I would be miffed if the skipped the freebies altogether because some people complained too much about them.
Don't worry, DAZ assassins all wear stilettos, you'd hear them coming from miles away.
I've bought that since after 2016 (on sale) and that being made a freebie shows they do look at their sales data and release old products that don't sell a lot as freebies even when they are really good like that bundle.
Yay, new weekly freebies. Most of them are about as useful for me as the unicorn textures were. However, if you render either kids or toons, both the Kutie Carts and Lil' Pup are stand alone products which might be useful.
I'd forgotten that there was a freebie page. I never look. I go to Shop and list prices Low to High. Obviously make sure you're logged in.
