So-called weekly freebies?
in The Commons
Searching yielded nothing on this topic: what gives with the weekly freebies? They've barely changed during the past couple of months. I might not want the "new" offers, but at least show me something different! Not only are they unchanging, but most of it is textures for things I don't have or want.
Thanks for any answers.

I have long stopped looking at the freebies page.
I've only been around for about 2 months, but during this time the freebies have changed quite a few times. Maybe not every week.
whats funny is their off site marketing says new free 3d models daily. which is...
freebies do change, not always models. normally useless things like magnet fits or textures for stuff you may never buy. sometimes something usable. i still check once in a blue to fill up my product 'ibrary. i just dont download any of it
The weekly freebies can be found here: http://www.daz3d.com/platinum-club-freebies
They are free with purchase for non-PC-Members, and PC members get them as part of their membership.
The other freebies change occasionally, sometimes every week, sometimes bi-weekly, sometimes they stay the same for a month...
If you need to pay, it is not a freebie. That is false advertizing, the more appropriate term would be 'bonus' items.
You don't need to pay for the freebies here: http://www.daz3d.com/freebies
I know, I was referring to the platinum 'freebies' ;)
You asked about the weekly freebies, and that's them. I don't make the termonily, so kindly complain to the customer service about that. It might actually have an effect, rather than complaining here amongst your fellow forumites.
Also, they *are freebies* for the PC members, so it's not entirely wrong.
Free to PC members, free with any purchase to non members, no false advertising at all.
Whoah, what's with the hostility? I was only pointing out the obvious..
Free = No payment required. The Platinum 'freebies' either require that you pay for an item or pay for Platinum, thus by definiton they are not free.
I've been saying this for years. Advertisers have subverted the meaning of the word "free". :)
+1
"Free with purchase" has been around since at least 1950.
While I agree that Paying for something to get another is not "Free", in this case I don't mind, because if you do some mental gymnastics, you realize that a PC+ membership is basically free anyways. To keep things simple, we'll just talk about the 3 month membership, which costs on any given day $24.00. Recently it was on sale for $17.00. Amoungst the things you get for that 3 months are a monthly $6.00 coupon, no additional charge required to use, for Daz Originals (yes, these coupons exclude PA items, but there are a lot of DO items to choose from), so for $17.00 (and all the other Perks/discounts) I get almost $26.00 ($25.70 - 30%= $18.00) merchandice. We can stop right there, as my membership is paid for, even if I paid full price. All you are really doing when paying for membership is Pre-Paying for DO items... As for the Off site Promos saying "daily" freebies... I just Lol... How long has that Bus Stop been in the Freebie bin? The non-Pc club freebies... Well, they are never going to be the best, but sometimes good things find there way in, like a couple months ago M4 &V4 Pro Bundles both made there way in... Those were good finds...
No, the PC isn't free. It's a case of pre-paying in exchange for a discount, and you have to spend the minimum $$$ required to qualify for both coupons. That means to cash in the second PA coupons, you have to spend $12 a month on top of whatever your monthly payment works out to be. If your spending patterns are such that you'll save that way it is a good deal, but it would only be free if the items miraculously appeared in your account and no money ever left your bank account.
The PC pays for itself. under $8 a month, and you get not one but 2 $6 coupons, one for DOs and one which gives you a discount on almost everything in the main store that is not new. On top of that you get vastly discounted products every month, and a monthly PC freebie as well as the weekly one. I have been a member of the PC since October 2002, and have never regretted joining, despite the fact that I use a non mainstream program as my program of choice.
And OH yes you do need a minimum amount in your cart to get the first PC coupon to work, it is around $3, although I am not sure there is anything in the store that costs that amount.apart from PC items
As a PC member, I have to agree with Chohole that the membership DOES pay for itself. Not counting the 2 monthly coupons, I have saved a lot on the PC items that comes out every week as well as the free items available to PC members (even if I don't purchase anything). I choose to pay the annual fee of $79 because it just makes more sense than the monthly payment. You don't have to be a genius to figure out how much you save by being a PC member.
The weekly freebies change more often than you think (though not necessarily weekly). The problem is that often the items that are offered free this week have already been given away sometime in the past - meaning that you already have them and don't see them on the freebies page. Tuesday seems to be the day the freebies change (if they're going to), with Wednesday being the new PC+ "freebie" day.
Yes, they cycle...and every once in a while something new shows up or something I missed the last time it was up.
Over the years DAZ has given me a lot of neat stuff for free... But they have also confused the hell out of me with poorly worded sales info and thusly annoyed the hell out of me.
I have mixed feelings because there is a level of expectation that I have with DAZ and I'm more or less okay with that because I know what to expect... But it's sorta like having a good friend who is a little unpredictable... You tell another friend how cool they are, but one day they offer that friend a free ride to work because their car is in the shop and then they ask for the gas money when they show up... The ride is free, the gas is not... Nobody lied, but you look like a jerk... Not 100% the same but near.
I'd really love it if DAZ would be clearer with sales, DELETE old inaccurate ads floating around the net and not do so many gimmicky confusing sales. I've many times recommended DAZ to people, but quite a few have thought it hard to understand and even a bit fishy...
I still like you DAZ... You are a bit crazy... But I like ya.
Yup. If you've been around for a while, chances are that you've received much of the offered freebies already.
Actually, there are a bunch of textures and even a few models that often come up for less, especially when the super discount sales are running. The Freak's Big Sweater and the Genesis Mask set are two that immediately come to mind.
And yes, the PC is currently the best deal out there as far as CG goes. As long as you usually spend $20+ a month on CG, it'll quickly pay for itself in most months.
Indeed. I'm finding that I get a new one that I haven't received about once every 4-6 weeks now, though when I do it's just as likely to be a texture set for an item that I don't have.
The way I check for freebies is click on shop.... then go down and change the sort order to low price to high .... any freebie you haven't already "bought" will sort to the top of the store list
In case some people have forgotten, not so long ago the V4- and M4-Hero-Bundles were both free without purchase. Again a big thanks to DAZ for that great offer!
Sorry if this is a repeat. I wrote the same a few days ago, but can't find my message or anything else on the subject. Does anyone know why the so-called "Weekly" freebies aren't changing? The list has been basically the same for about 2 months. To make matters worse, most of it is textures for things I don't have and don't want. I accept that I might not want what's currently on offer, but at least show me something new!
Thanks for any answers.
