And to add to the pfun and games - here's the readme page for Eva-7 (and am I the only one who noticed last night that the store promo page for the sale said 'Sale - Eva 6' as the lead?)

As for diversity,  would point out that Genesis 2 saw a huge change in tha respect as compared to Genesis.  Just in the last year we've released mermaids, toons, africans, asians, mayans, etc.

You've said some good stuff (and have good taste in figures) but what you missed is that:

    A. We can have "black" people that aren't from Africa, or voodoo doctors. Like Black Americans.
    B. It takes way too long for them to come out because you spam a bunch of light skinned girls of different shapes first.

I agree Lilith and Olympia are super awesome, but lets not wait till the end of the product life cycle for some brown folks.

(Anyone know who was the Mayan? I must have missed that)

A - Agreed.  The challenge is that although people say they want ethnic diversity, they don't tend to be willing to spend for it.  We felt that adding some cool themes to the bundle might help tem sell better (which it actually did).  But, in hind sight we would have done it differently and more tastefully.  We own that one.

B- That is mostly a fair statement.  When we launch a new figure platform (e.g. Genesis 3).  We want to get as many customers to adopt it as we can, and as many artists makign content for it as we can (which we do by getting customers to adopt it).  The best way to do this is to get out the figures that sell the best.

Your final point is noted.  We'll try to get some in sooner this time.

As for the Mayan (which I thought looked WAY better than she sold, but have to admit that I don't care for the promo art on) was: http://www.daz3d.com/zaniyah-hd-for-genesis-2-female-s

Skin is too light to be truly Mayan...

    https://www.google.com/search?q=Myan+woman&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CCAQsARqFQoTCNWn_7uK7cYCFRcoiAodVyAHEA&biw=960&bih=404

Then pick a darker figure from one of my 'Line ups', and use that if the stock mat is not dark enough, lol.  Zaniyah is a G2F figure, and as long as you have the required figure UV, G2F mats work fine on G2F figures.

That brings me to the other point DAZ_Steve said. Zaniyah was released within days of the G3F/V7 launch, and that interrupted Any hope I had of doing a quick, look at her render.

(in a friendly pointing out tone) How do you think a G2F figure will sell at this point, Especially with some on a limited budget, lol. Same goes for EJ Guadalupe. Buried a page back after the V7 launch, I suspect EJ Guadalupe sold equally as bad. Zaniyah perchased at launch. EJ Guadalupe is in my wish-list, and no funds left here to add a purchase.

    Grrrrrrrrrrrrr never mind

The climate gets to be that the artists can't create something they have been thinking about without being hammered, and sometimes rudely, There is a gigantic library of characters with Genesis 2. There is something for everyone already. G3 just came out. Give it some time before getting venomous.

Ah, well - I guess its lemonade time. Looks like I need to watch a couple of shows I've been avoiding on Bravo so I can get the setting and poses correct for The Real Housewives of DAZ.

Incidentally, has anyone noticed the character in the black-haired promo image for Brady Hair? (top left image among the small thumbnails to the right)

I suspect that's someone's private promo-only model, but if DAZ released her she'd probably sell like hotcakes because -- to my eye -- she looks eerily like a certain celebrity. She's certainly rather lovely.

That's Victoria 7 with no makeup on.

Errmm ... uh, OK, I guess DAZ probably will sell a few of those.

I'm surprised. To me they look subtly different (having done a quick test render), but maybe it comes down to camera angle/expression/lighting. Or to the fact that I'm horrible at recognizing faces.

I do think that V7 is definitely channeling her inner ScarJo in this particular image, though.

That has nothing to do with the point I was making.  They call that character Mayan when in fact it's just another white chick with makeup's that resemble Mayan war painted faces and such.... no offense to the merchant but makes you wonder what fear some folks might have around presenting anything other than white skin?   If we are to truly have a racially diverse set of characters here at DAZ then that needs to start at the root of the desire, the merchants!

I've noticed on the whole that for Native American or Latino characters, skins tend to err on the light side.

Venom hurts things and people need to keep cool heads. That said, the opening salvo for G3F has felt kinda weak and it seems like they're trying to bombard buyers with samey releases when Daz has shown the ability to make nice bundles. It's a shame since there's things G3F does well that should be worth a new purchase but feels like the same mistakes are being made.

Well, leaving this thread on a positive note.

    http://www.daz3d.com/chace-hair-for-genesis-3-female-s-and-genesis-2-female-s

Does look awesome (great short hair with some nice options for the scalp) and it is G2F compatible which is why I'm picking it up solo.

Thanks to AprilYSH for the dual support!

I do agree I am not usually interested in the budles. There is only 1 thing that I'm particularly interested in from all of the Pro bundles and it just isn't worth it, to me, to pay for all the other stuff I don't want. just to get it. That, I find annoying.

I do think the new lingerie products are pretty nice. Though, one of the separate texture sets is mostly the same texture from the base product except for the colors. Odd choice to make it a seperate purchase.

Thanks Steven, it's nice to know you guys are hearing us :) Olympia is my go to female too! Though G3F with some voluptuous and fitness mostly works too. At least she'll do for now! cheeky

And thanks for the free dress. Its a kind gesture.smiley

Just wanted to let you all know that we listened, and heard your concerns about the selection of items in the bundle.  So, we're throwing another, tamer piece of clothing out to all of you who buy Eva 7 or her bundles.  We hope you enjoy your free Summer Kiss outfit.

As for diversity,  would point out that Genesis 2 saw a huge change in tha respect as compared to Genesis.  Just in the last year we've released mermaids, toons, africans, asians, mayans, etc.  Additionally, Olympia showed us that the market has an appetite for a fuller figured character as well, so you'll see us exploring that mre in the very near future.

For me, I think that Eva is one of the most beautiful characters we've ever put out (Eva, Olympia, and Lilith are my person favorites).  But the need for more day-to-day clothing is definitely not falling on deaf ears.  Enjoy the free outfit, and more to come.  Thanks all for your support!!

i see not the different  between  v7  and eva 7 with normal morph can dailed . only the textur is new and afew new cloth but this daz standart morphs. privat vendor clothmaker make it better with more funktion morphs.

In generation 6 we had curvy, more curvy,  evil, fairy, double anime, double toon, athletic... now in generation 7 we have twins laugh

Soon as I logged in I saw the new toon and I was like already?! Then I came to the forums to see how lit up it was...while reading the posts it made me think the reason we're seeing back to back new editions and I think it's because we get DAZ Studio for free. Have you seen an old invoice for Studio? $429 dollars according to my recent one. Times that by the number of users and that is how much money DAZ has 'lost' and needs to make up and what better way to make it up....content. This is exactly how many online games are going. Free game but if you want the bits to play with, you'll have to pay.

One other thing that has gotten to me lately, I have several G2F characters and one day I was playing around in Studio and trying to build a new character and I started moving the dials around. Have you noticed the *lack* of creativity in some of these character packages from vendors? I had 1 where the shoulders were the only thing to change, another changed a little waist and bustline....extremely little body change and yet want the buyer to pay for the package they're selling...where I could buy the merchant resource and do it myself at the price being paid for character packages. This includes the characters being included in these Pro-bundles. So it's like you're getting the latest character with a different skin texture and that's it.

If ethnic characters 'don't sell well' then why not release them as a morphed bundle package? Much like the Body Morphs, Face Morphs...This way people can add the morphs to their library, I know I like to add a bit of this and a touch of that in my models, I don't use Olympia right out of the box for everything I do. At times I miss the face morphs from way back when that offered all kinds of different features. I think DAZ saw the old ethnic morph pack and thought wait a minute, we could make so much more money if we take each ethnic morph and make a pro bundle figure out of her...Imagine if V3/V4 you had to buy just Voluptuous....or Athletic....or Elven....oh wait aren't those Olympia, Gia and Giselle? I think I'm going to get the V7 starter bundle and that's it....I'm happy right now with G2F but merchants are probably going to cramming G3 gear down our throats before long and as with all the other figures, they'll cease product support on anything under the current model. My wallet needs to regenerate, not all of us have a magical replenishing wallet...DAZ needs to start their own loan system...Bank of DAZ.....This way people can 2nd mortgage their homes for content.

I like having morphs far more, yeah. I was able to make Ninive look Asian and African with the big G2 morph bundles. Frankly, more skin textures and a few more dials are worth more to me.

Personally, I think the reason why ethnic figures don't sell well is because of the perceived value of those bundles -- whether it be the quality of the figures, to bundled items, or even to marketing of these figures. I myself picked up Aiko 6 only because of a coupon, because the value wasn't that great.

That being said, I don't actually *mind* the new Eva figure and it's actually one of the few figures I feel that isn't supermodel-esque like V6/7. I may pick up the figure eventually when G3F picks up critical mass (read: smart props) as compared to previous generations.

Here's my opinion, for what its worth. I like her face, She seems much more specific than many of the daz ladies, she looks very germanic/northern european, rather than just generically sexy white lady. In particular her cheek and jaw structure is much less round than all the daz ladies save Gia. She also features some of the least poofy lips, which is nice. I'm not a huge fan of the default bodyshape, but I also haven't liked a default body shape of any character since Steph 4 so that has more to do with me.

The default texture is, like all the daz characters, exellent. Though, once again, I feel the default material settings unnecessarily darken the skin. Thankfully, if one just tweaks the translucency settings, she's pretty easy to lighten up.

    *Edit* here's a quick render

Also, its not just me right? Dayna has the same Eyebrows as V6Hd right?

What else? Oh yes, Chace hair is fantastic, It's in many ways a much improved version of AprilYSH's Quain Hair, which was pretty much my favorite, but is starting to show some age.I think its pretty much my default hair gowing forewards.

Love Eve7, She is beautiful, Love the character packs base off her, Love the hair! Hate every single clothing except the panty and bra set in the pro bundle. The fantasy outfit would have been okay if it weren't for the bloody belly cutout.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that this release seems to be way too close to the release of V7 to seem like a good buy? Is a $70 pro bundle going to be a monthly thing? I'm at the point now where I feel like if I've bought one, I've bought them all. A few years ago, each new character that DAZ released was a total-game-changer-must-have. Now they just seem to be churning them out like there's no tomorrow. They seem to lose their wow-factor after a while.

And don't get me started on the double-dipping let's release the HD add-on two weeks later thing. I think at this stage of the game, HD should be the default.

that was what G2 turned into, so yes I think so.

I completely agree and just explained to a friend that Generation 4, and even 5 had ICONIC shapes that were big PLATFORMS to buy into. A supermodel Female, a "girl next door" Female, a Male, Asian inspired Toon Female, Asian Inspired Toon Male, Muscle Dude and Western inspired Toon gal.

Now most shapes are called "figure" and gets a propack that is smaller than in generations prior. The value of the shapes is debatable, though I do think some of the later ones for G2F were cool, I never purchased them because I was already able to accomplish similar results before they were released. Some people wait for Daz to release figures to get inspired to make art of certain styles, so I think these over abundance of propacks with minor style tweaks targets them. Don't get me wrong, love me some Lilith, but I only got her base shape. No need for all the fluff.

And just an FYI, your font goes black after the first few words. I use the dark theme so it may not be noticeable on the light theme.

I really like Chace hair. I think it's super cute. I also think it would look great on the men.

Base figure is okay, but if you have v7... Not seeing the need to buy her. Bonus skin Dayna looks nice. Not sure I like the Flora skin. I don't like to see big facial pores on the face.

The lack of diversity is the whole reason I have dropped DAZ figures as my go-to for my graphic novels.

Care to post an example from your graphic novel? I want to see this diversity please.

Its really helped me to think of the daz characters as more in the vein of the elite textures + a really nice bonus morph (especially since the textures are mostly made by the same person). Post Gen 4 the idea of an iconic morph is less important, because you don't have to worry about clothing fits. The bundles for me are more a way to get content at a discounted amount, If I want enough of the content to make it worth it, I buy the bundle.

And the morphs are nice. The attention to detail when it comes to things like the shoulder blades, the ears, and eyes are things that can't really be dial spun (sadly. Personally I would like to be able to splice S6's shoulder blades onto mei lin's body, but it would take more effort than I feel like putting forth)

+90 USD for a simple head morph and some repetitive clothes??, no way!!

total and complete denial. :) But I really don't like the big pore thing. There are a couple male characters in the store who seriously need to biore those noses.

To be completely fair, the figure's body is decently designed. Simply saying that it's a simple head morph is quite the disservice to this product...

Also, this figure is *orders* different from previous figures released in the past. I would say it's in line with Nivine 6 in terms of moving away from a model-esque appearance.
