Work on Sickbay continues. I've had to do a bit of material editing since the first renders and I've rebuilt the desk terminal in the Doctor's Office to match the nurse's station in the ward. I'm working on storage that will resemble the wall kibble from the films for the office and the exam room.
So the first up is the exam room. The ceiling scanner components were really happy to reflect whatever light I put in there. I've toned it down since this render and changed up my materials. The textures for the scanner displays up above the base body scan are coming along. Expecting to re-render this one after I get the wall kibble finished and the textures for the displays put in.
The next one is the main ward for this portion of sickbay. I think the bed padding is probably too thick. I'm going to play with that a bit I think. Also, the beds are only going to be lit up when a patient is in them. The blue is for a stable patient, it'd flash red for a patient that's having issues and needs immediate attention. The wall displays behind the nurses station would show information on whoever is in there. There's a blue pane of glass there that'll have information readouts for people walking into sickbay for each bed. It'll say the patient name, condition, and if they're accepting visitors. I'm probably going to tone the lighting in here down a little bit.
I started making some monitor graphics for my sickbay set. Changed the size of the beds and rebuilt the upper portion so that it's adjustable. I lowered the lighting a bit so it wasn't as bright, but still well lit. And then I decided I needed someone on a bed interacting with someone else to make sure the lighting was good enough. :) You should be able to see the differences in the beds from the previous render I posted,
I'm working on building some storage for the walls in the exam room and in the main office as well as one of those posters about knowing the symptoms of so and so. Still haven't picked something from Trek yet for that.
I moved from Sickbay over to working on the bridge, the reason I started attempting to build some sets from the TMP era in the first place. The goal is to have a variety of bridge parts so that you can mix and match and re-arrange just like they did to make the various bridges in the films. I'm starting with a variant on the Phase II design that's got some details from the motion picture bridge, namely the ceiling kibble. Most of it is done except for the turbolifts which really just need some details. Once I get that done I'll texture the consoles and then I can start on the motion picture 'refit' of this design, most likely starting with the bridge chairs.
Awfully quiet around here...
I've been posting as I've had something to update :)
But yeah it has been.
Not even crickets for a while...
A few weeks ago, I dug out NightFever's Nemesis Enterprise-E and converted the textures to IRAY. Unfortunately, I had to get rid of all of the markings when I did the conversion, so I did a practice run of adding registry numbers, and battle damage, in postwork. I finally built up the courage to post it today. :)
She looks great!
Ok, so one thing that's always bugged me when we involve an alternate timeline or quantum reality, is that aside from just a few cosmetic alterations to the interior of the ships (budgets, I know) the designs remain largely unchanged. With that in mind I decided to change that up a bit for my own. I'm using the MKF Connie for the refit to the original Constitution instead of the film change, so I wanted my Excelsior and Excelsior Refit as well as the Ambassador to kind of reflect that. I'm thinking by the time the Dominion War rolls around, the two splits start to realign technology wise and so from the design of the Galaxy onwards the designs probably wouldn't change all that much except for maybe markings. I may change my mind again and try to work up a different version of the Galaxy class, but eh, I'm not that ambitious. I would actually like to start making the comics I have bouncing around in my head sometime. I'm already doing up a different bunch of sets and looking at modifiying the bridge as well for the Galaxy and work on the set design from the Connie refit onwards.
I'm babbling. Anyway, this is my take on the Excelsior in my timeline. It's a hybrid take on the Ingram class (I bought the blueprints for the Inram at a convention a long while back) and Excelsior with some design carryover from the MKF Connie. I'm still working on the roughs to the nacelles and in the second image I did a different build on the secondary hull. I'm thinking that the alternate secondary hull is going to be the refit version instead of having the pieces jutting off of it they refined the design a bit. I'm playing around with this as I texture the Phase II bridge and thought I'd share.
It's been a while since I'd heard anything from these parts so I thought I'd stop by.
ashefivekay, I know what you're saying when it comes to different looks for the ship. I did some of that in Nova Trek- not too much to the outside, but I went totally off the rails when it came to the captain's cabin- the Command Suite in my stories- at least as far as the TOS era was concerned.
I did love what you did for your suite arrangement. :) It worked so well as a full blown Captain's quarters, with priveldges. ;)
Yeah, I'm probably biting off way more than I should with this, but it's got me re-thinking a bunch of things like what technology they'd be using, different changes to the ships and why, and it's got me fleshing out my little universe's history a bit more, so it's kind of useful :)
Been meaning to share these - WIPs of a new project I'm working on. Trying to make some Klingon sets and characters. Hope you like. :)
For anyone who might be interested...

Sounds good, if they can get solid, scientific proof it works. I would want to know why it works before putting it in a ship.
Yes, I believe someone is working on getting the results in a peer review something or another thing.
Very nice. Definitely has that Klingon feel :)
ashefivekay, please check your messages.
Just replied. :) Just realized your e-mail was in there. *smacksforehead*
And just replied.
Does anyone recognise or remember this guy? He's the EF Grey Alien. I'mtrying to find out if there was ever a uniform or a spacesuit released for him. But I've had him in my runtime for so long, I can't remember which site I found him on.
He's familiar but I don't remember.
That's okay. Maybe someone else will, How's the projects going?
I believe he's the old Sixus Grey. There's a Commander suit, a business suit (Men in Black, shirt and tie, etc.), a set of alien robes, a MantisGrey moprh, baby and child morphs, a natal pod, and some other stuff. Is there any specific info you need? According to my invoice I got him directly from Sixus's old site (poserproducts.com) in 2005, complete with an alien scoutship for them to arrive in.

I'm looking for anything that resembles a uniform. So the Commander's suit sounds like it would work. I just need some way of getting hold of it.
If it helps, here's what it looks like. You can probably contact him through his site (sixus1.com). He may not still have it available, as he updated them with his Void Prime series of Greys a few years ago.

The e-mail's sent. Now if he just replies. Thanks for the help, Walt.
Check at Content Paradise there's a fair bit of stuff there
It was includeded in one of the Poser releases
Good spot, it's actually still available there! Cool! I accidently called it a "Commander" suit, but it's the "Commando" suit.

Found it. The whole series. I's post the link for others, but the post would probably be deleted.
So I'll just say "Thanks Guys!!"
Okay, this makes no sense. Not only are the files for the suit Prop files, Poser Pro also says they're not poper poser files. Someone explain that one.
Edit: Found out what happened. Some how whoever created the files put the wrong file extentions on them. They were saved as .pp2 instead of .cr2.
Things are progressing on all fronts. :)
I've actually got all the bridge stations textured now. :) Working on modeling something else and did these renders up while I slept to make sure things were holding up. :)
Probably going to end up remodeling the control consoles for the bridge stations as it has this weird indent that doesn't show up in the modeling program. Was planning on making a few alterations anyway, but we'll have to see. That's why it's a work in progress :)
