It may not be screen perfect but that looks awesome! I think you're getting away with it enough on it following the legs. As long as your characters aren't doing yoga in it I don't think anyone will notice :)
And thank you on Engineering! :) I hope to have more renders when I get back from vacation :)
http://www.startrek.com/article/the-original-series-set-tour-to-open
Hope you all can visit be nice to meet you in person
While I didn't get all the rendering done that I wanted, I did get some textures modified for the consoles and made up some anonymous crew people to man engineering. The little story running through my head while I was working on these was that my lead, the current XO and head of security is down in Engineering looking for the Captain and the Chief Engineer. She's not having luck after checking near the bull pen (complete with a 23rd century version of the pool table in Engineering) and so an ops officer takes pity on her and directs her up to the office on the third floor. The last render was basically to test how the lighting coming in off the other corridors would look.
Do I see a feline beauty operating a station in that first render? Is she a Caitian (like Lt. M'Ress) or might she a member of "Lt. Snarl's" species as described in the first original Trek novel from Pocket Books, "The Entropy Effect" by Vonda MacIntyre. If we see she has ruby red fangs, we'll know she's the latter.
Sincerely,
Bill
M'Ress was my first thought/inspiration, but I didn't know about Lt. Snarl before I whipped them up. She's a combination of a few different things I've picked up over the years for the Genesis character. I'm going to have to say she's leaning more toward Lt. Snarl's species as none of them I made up for use have a tail at this point.
It's been decades since I last read that novel, but from what I remember, "Snarl" had leopard/cheetaj like spots, the ruby read fangs mentioned above (their natural hue, not colored from blood), and tended to drop to all fours when in a dead run. She was part of the security team. (Just imagine being an intruder and then spotting this feral looking creature bolting straight at you!) Finally, "Snarl" was a nickname no one actually dared to say within her earshot. I'm pretty sure she had a tail, but who's to argue there might not be "racial" varaitions (Caitians, Snarl's species or other Trek felinoids) who might have short tails or none at all?
Sincerely,
Bill
Don't forget the Kzinti.....another feline race in Star Trek....
(edit: Oops, nevermind.....it's female, so it would have been a kzinrretti......and wouldn't be able to get through starfleet academy...... http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Kzinti and http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Nimbus_III_inhabitants#Cat_Woman )
The Kzinti are not part of the Federation. It was established in the TAS episode "Slaver weapon" that they've tried like 3 times? to invade and they've lost every time.
Here's where I admit I hadn't put much thought into the species name or anything and wanted to make up a cat race and a few others using some morphs I had laying around just to have aliens on board that weren't just head or nose pieces. ;)
Definitely not Kzinti.
Yeah not the most successful at it, but then again, none of them ever are.
<nod> Mainly because her full name is a painful tongue-twister for most humanoid larynxes. Spock can say it, of course, because Vulcan phonetics. She also got a few off-camera mentions (but, I think, no actual appearances) in Janet Kagan's Uhura's Song, and I'm trying to remember if Diane Duane or Peter Morwood ever gave her a walk-on part; she's just the sort of character they like to bring back into the spotlight.
Besides, every space opera should have a resident exotic alien cat-girl.
For Trek, if M'Ress isn't available, call upon "Snarl".
Sincerely,
Bill
It was "Uhura's Song'. It's one of my favorites. I've read that one so many times I almost have it memorized.
Yeah along with the cat people I've got there's the weird head alien with 3 fingers I need to develop and a few more I've been poking around with that I need to figure out. I mean do I want them to be something that's already out there that's undefined or make them my own? I was thinking about making up a chameloid as well cause that would just be fun to play with, but I'm not sure where I'd fit one in just yet.
Just a little something I'm converting from poser. My understand is this one will come in three material settings for Poser and Studio.
USS O'BANNON Bridge
And a little history of the USS O'BANNON
1) Presley O'Bannon was as an officer in the United Stated Marine Corps. In recognition of his bravery, he was presented a sword for his part in attempting to restore Prince Hamet Karamanli to his throne at Tripoli. This sword became the model for the Mameluke Sword, adopted in 1825 for Marine Corps officers, which is still part of the dress uniform today.
A little history about the Obannon ship. Retiring from a run early 5 April 1943, O'Bannon sighted the Japanese submarine Ro-34 on the surface and made to ram it. At the last moment, the officers decided that the sub may be a minelayer, and the rudder was turned hard to avoid the collision. This action brought the destroyer directly alongside the sub. As the Japanese sailors attempted to man their three-inch deck gun, the O'Bannon's deck hands, not having side arms, grabbed potatoes from nearby storage bins and pelted the Japanese with them. Thinking the potatoes were hand grenades, the submarine's sailors were too occupied with throwing them away from the sub to fire. This gave the O'Bannon the opportunity to distance itself to fire its guns at the sub and damage the conning tower. Although the sub still managed to submerge, O'Bannon used depth charges to finally sink it.
And thus the USS O'Bannon would go down in history as the instigator of the Guadalcanal potato fight. It was not until stardate 8546.9 that a Starfleet Academy student by the name of Jade Smith discovered the long lost history of this great ship and while the students of the graduating class were conducting their graduating cruise onboard one of the many training ships, Cadet Smith convinced her classmates to use their replicator rations to replicate potato’s and donning environmental suits lined the hull and made a close pass alongside the USS Excelsior. As the ships passed the students threw their potato’s thus repeating a footnote in history and beginning a new and time honored tradition of the graduating class lining the hull of their training ship and terrorizing the fleet with a hail of potato’s
That looks awesome and I don't recognize it at all. Is it new?
It's based on one of the bridge concepts for Star Trek: Voyager, and personally, it's my favorite of the designs they did. Strangely, I was actually thinking about asking for that bridge...
That... makes a lot more sense than the bridge we actually got for Voyager...
RDuda built the bridge at the same time he did the JJ-Hall.
This bridge is being packaged and set up as a Destroyer / Cruiser.
Themes will be Standard , Mirror Universe and LDStudio (plum).
And one last little tid bit of fact. I served on USS O'BANNON (DD-987) , USS O'BANNON (DD-450) was the Potato ship.
It does look great!
mr pdsmith . did you ever configure my spacepeople morph poses into a format that the genisis figures { at least 1 and 2 } can use ?
Got four more renders done up for Engineering. The XO ends up getting directions to the Chief Engineer's Office and decides to take the ladder. The ladder may have been a mistake because putting figures on it is a pain. LOL. The views in the last two renders are from the third floor of Engineering. You can see part of the office in the top right of the third render. I'm going to do a few more inside the office and then I'll stop hammering you all with these while I work on building something else to import. ;)
The good thing about a ladder is that it doesn't need a power source. If the section loses power, you can still get to vital systems. On the other hand, a small lift of somekind would allow a crewman to carry large loads to the upper level- meaning heavier tools he or she might need.
Is there any way you can install a more narrow ladder and a lift? Use the side rails of the ladder as the guide rails for the lift. Then the ladder's there if you ever do have a power outage.
True, but the way I have it set up there's access to five different turbolifts right off the front of Engineering.2 on the first and second floor and one on the third. There isn't a lot of machinery on the third floor anyway, but there is an access door there to the Jefferies Tubes. I may still add a lift into it though. At first I was kind of like eh, I have turbolifts, but yeah something IN Engineering would help too. I just need to figure out ... nevermind, I know where it can go. :)
Pokemon are showing up everywhere.
That's reserved for tribbles and Horta walk-on parts.
Hmm... slither-on parts? Wait, that doesn't sound right...
LOL!
O_o
Just some minor redesigns. Also a poster I did inspired by Rihanna's song "Sledgehammer" and the new movie. Included a Kelvin Timeline Forrestal in the picture.
