Which pieces ya used?
What did you use to make the middle one? o.o
i used both of the hull sections both the impulse and antimater engines the rest whas either cut out of the starkiller connie pieces or built by myself in hexagon
If anybody is interested in some "cloth" for a Scotty kilt: DA Link
There are 2 full sized pattern squares. [i.e. not on templates]
The model each is displayed on is: http://www.daz3d.com/scottish-kilts-prince-charlie-outfit
For another thread found this free utility: DRAWings Embroidery Effect
And of course thought of some of those Vulcan wall hangings and such this might be useful for, as well as clothing badges of course.
But it won't work with Photoshop. :-(
It's supposed to be a stand alone ... but it's not doing anything but cross-stitch over here so ? It's internal help file claims it will do several stitches so I don't know.
Saw reference to a manual somewhere so will be hunting that down.
...............
Okay we all have the manual: "Start>All Programs> DRAWings Embroidery Effect>DRAWings_EmbEffect_Help_Manual.pdf"
And I have to use a different type of file to get stitches it says ...
..........
Apparently it didn't read its own manual ... PSP's vector files still get cross-stitched BUT the vector files from the main website appear to work fine. Will have to check the other computer later to see if one of the other programs I have can get us some working Vector files.
......................
tried with Inkscape ... dismal failure there too ... guess it's all just too old to work well ... either not reading the files or not reading them right. Not reading all the fonts either as in none of the ST fonts.
So ... only with their own "samples", not staying on board for that. And that file is too large to load here. wonderbar ...
It took awhile, okay, found the program that can make files the embroidery utility can use.
30 day free trial ...
Back a few pages someone was asking if carrara can use Lux and the answer is yes.
There is SphericLabs beta for the LUX Core Renderer. this works really well and will take the Carrara shaders and transfer them over nicely.
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/50130/luxuscore-carrara#latest
There is also the Luxus for Carrara plug in. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/50130/luxuscore-carrara#latest This was the original LUx Render version for Carrara by SphericLabs.
Here is a DS 9 Render I did in Carrara,m the Nebula is using the Carrara function of clouds. Materials wer converted to Carrara Shaders.

Hey all it looks like Star Trek is going to be back on the air in 2017 on CBS!!!

Thanks
I don't know how excited I am about this... Because this show will be the flagship program for a new style of pay network, I'm afraid the creators will play it very, very safe and go with a concept that's very formulaic and designed to appeal to the teenaged boys that they think are their core audience -- a bland, look-at-our-shiney-CGI, run and jump on Planet X sort of show with a busty female alien who takes lots of on-screen baths.
I'd like to see a series that was more like the Star Wars: Clone Wars series -- where there is a core of main characters who may or may not appear in each episode and the focus is more on exploring the Federation, Star Fleet, and all the many peoples and planets of the Star Trek universe. I think this sort of approach would allow them much more scope and variety of storytelling. After a half century of watching incarnations of this show, my threashold for not being bored by the same ol' same old is getting kinda high...
On the other hand though, if they did the Captain Sulu show they should have done 30 years ago, I'd pay to watch it no matter how cliche and corny it could be...
I think I remember seeing that someone had posted a set of Iray shaders for Ptrope's bridge. Is anyone using Reality 4.1? Has anyone saved an ACSEL shader bundle for that set? ... or any of our Trek sets for that matter? The thing I like least about Reality is having to set up all the metal and glass stuff we end up with on a Trek (or any Science Fiction style) set. I'm very psyched about having the ability to save those settings or maybe even download settings other folks have done so I won't have to spend an hour on the material settings before I can do even a simple render. If someone else is using Reality, I'd be happy to share the settings I have used for various sets and props.
I think in this case, in my opinion Alex Kurtzman is a good bet. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0476064/#producer (From Herules and Xena to Transformers, Limitless and Spiderman) he and his producing partners have a track record of outstanding shows, and given the current two shows I watch right now, Scorpion and Limitless, the characters interaction and dynamic has the potential for being outstanding.
For when and concept of the show. I believe the show would be best served if a continuation of TOS where the current three (Yes three, the third is in production) movies have taken the reimagining.
Too many people will scream 'THAT'S NOT CANNON' as it is already if any other era were to be used. With all the TV shows and movies made maybe a starting fresh is best. Keep in mind, even if they started with a new ship in the TOS era, people will scream 'THAT'S NOT CANNON' if there is an accidental crossover, so again, continue with the reimagining, many won't like it, but, it's here to stay.
In this day and age, with the internet, remember feedback can make the show to what we want with nudges and suggestions. Outright screaming it sucks,it will fail, we hate it...will be ignored.
Don't resist change, subvert from within."

I'm not so concerned with maintaining specifics of established canon (which has always been pretty fluid) as I am in seeing a commitment to good storytelling that has an internal consistency. For example, my brother argues that the nature of the Star Fleet changes so dramatically between ST: The Motion Picture and ST: The Wrath of Khan it's almost as if perhaps a war that we're never told about happens between the two movies. And yet, both are plausible permutations of the Federation as seen in the original series that function logically within the parameters they set in the stories they told.
There's been a lot of good world-building in the Trek universe over the past near-half-century. A smart creative team would make use of that.
I don't think I'd mind if a new series is set in a "re-booted" version of the Trek universe. I just don't want to see the kind of careless, slap-dash storytelling that has characterized the recent efforts and that make re-watching the newest round of movies painful on the brain at times...
(And it's spelled "canon" not "cannon"... unless you're talking about things that go boom...
)
well....the whole thing could blow up...so it could go boom....blame my phone and it's auto check. I think I did pretty good getting most of the errors by it. :-)
I could go back and change the spelling but that would be cheating. Or just fill the whole paragraph with geek speak and no one would understand a thing I said.
I don't foresee a slap together kind of story telling, the pattern Alex set is mature but yet fun. He is the producer of these shows. JJ may have been the director of the two Trek reboots, but it was Alex's money that went into produceing and He and Orci have what I think is an intellegent grasp on what fans of this show expect of it. There are scientists who claim Trek motivated them to the sciences...that I'd say isn't something to take lightly.
Lane change here...Try watching The Man from Uncle the new one. They captured everything about the 1960's spy shows, added a bit of humor but kept to the core of what made the show great. I hope they make more.
OK I missed that pay network part in the story and being here in Iraq kind of limits what I see on TV. I wouldn't mind seeing a Mirror Universe series or a Section 31 serries (just to poke the bear knowing just how much my brother LOVES that group.
. I think they have a great opportunity to create a great serries, but I am sure that there will be a militant anti JJ Trek section that would scream bloody murder if they based it off the new section of canon. Me I just want some Star Trek and I think that the idea of doing a Clone Wars style of Trek would be awesome!
I'd love to see the series set another 100+ years ahead of the ending of Voyager, a New New Generation if you will.
I'd also like to see an alien as Captain.
Interesting concept
Tee hee! That would work!
One of my teachers used to tell the story of an unlucky grad student who consistently spelled "canon" as "cannon" throughout his 500 or so page dissertation. One of the professors on his committee went from circling the mistake to putting the word "Boom!" next to every repetition of "cannon," then to drawing pictures of cannons, and finally to doodling little bleeding soldiers all over his work. Hilarious for the professor. Not so much for the poor student....
I really like the idea of an alien as Captain. There's a lot of stories that can be told there...
From what I understand, it's going to be like one of the channels you get on Roku -- like Netflix or Hulu... So you might be able to get it if you have computer access.
My brother despises Section 31 too! Must be a brother thing....
A Mirror Universe series would be interesting.... Very dark... Very HBO...
Section 31 has been done to death (and beyond) in fan fiction and films. I would be happy never hearing about it (it's a _secret_, right??) again.
I have often thought that an anthology series ('Tales of the Federation') with a regular cast playing different roles each week would be worth trying. Basically, you could tell any story a writer can think of. Heck, they could even do a story about the TOS Enterprise, playing the roles of Kirk & Co.
Tell your brother he's not alone. I never saw a legit reason for Section 31. I always felt that any spy-type mission could be handled just fine through Starfleet Intelliengce. I always felt that the only reason they created Section 31 was to give Starfleet a dark side that wasn't needed.
Section 31 was created solely as a James Bond-esque spy vehicle for Bashir. They were supposed to be the Federation equivalent of the Cardassian Obsidian Order or the Romulan Tal'Shiar. Ruthless, efficient, and willing to go to any lengths to accomplish their goals. The only problem I had was that Bashir was the one always beating them. If more had been done with his genetic enhancement storyline, maybe It wouldn't have been a problem, but that barely made an impact on the character, much less the show.
I never understood the reason for introducing that genetic business. Like you said it never really figured in any of the episodes, so why add it in? Then, too, there have been elements in all the series that were introduced with the intention of coming back to them at some point and no one ever did. Just like the parasites in Next Generation's first season "Conspiracy". They decided they were too graphic and never resolved the story line.
