Poser 9 is turning out to be VERY stable- at least on my system- more so than any other version I've tried. Like you I have little intrest or need for Genesis. I'm just now getting into V4/M4- and then the only reason is that's who the head morphs I need are for.

I have Poser Pro 2014 and it was perfectly stable until after the SR2 update and then it went all to CRAP!  It would render just fine in the background but if I tried to render in the main screen all hell would break lose with Poser and my video card causing flashes and lockup untilI finally I would have to do a hard shutdown and restart. Studio is really stable and my Brother was very helpful in helping me get started when I was home on R&R. V4/M4 are great characters and I am sure you will get a lot of use out of them.

I am not sure if this in in the freebies list, I might have missed it, but this looks like a nice texture for the Genesis Supersuit to make it look like the TOS uniforms.

I fought with 2014 for almost a year- and the tech support kept telling me it was my system when all the local techs said no way. That's when I finally went back to Poser 9- Thank goodness I'd kept the installation files for it.

I have been using the pro version since Poser Pro 2010 so I just stayed with it and never got Poser 9. What really made me consider dropping Poser was their announcement of what would be new with the next version and there was no mention of making G2f/m and G3 work native in Poser. Without that I think Smithmicro is making a huge mistake, and unless they come out with some kind of announcement that the new figures will work natively Poser Pro 2014 will be the last version of Poser I purchase.

I seem to hit the odd numbered versions as far as what works. The onlt exception to that was Poser 6. 5,6,7 all worked. Poser 8 failed and I went back to P7 till P9 came out. P10 and 2014 failed for me so I went back to P9. I really wanted that new clothing room they'd added to 2014, but... I had to have something that worked. I don't think it was SM's idea to not support Genesis. At least that's what I've heard.

Yeah Poser 8 was an epic failure for me as well, I ended up going back to Poser 7 until Poser Pro 2010 came out. I am not going to go into the whole "Whose responsible for Genesis, G2f/m and G3f/m not working in Poser" I don't want to get the thread locked but I think it was a combination of both companies and thier choices of weight mapping of figures. They just are not compatable. But anyway, as soon as I get the hang of the Studio's version of the materials room I willbe back to making content that will now work in BOTH versions. Mainly texture sets and maybe dive off into som prop making.

Agreed. Playing the "blame game" won't do any one any good now. If things work for someone, fine. If not, that person's going to find some other way to acheive their ends.

I picked up working in 3D art to get my mind off of working in Iraq and with Poser causing so many problems I am sure you all saw the results of the stress I was dealing with, working in Studio has brought that back into check and if Poser sets itself up to use the new characters natively ... who knows I might try it but right now Studio is free and it is working far better than Poser so I am going to use it.

WOW we got a little OT on this, sorry everyone ... Now I return you all to your regularly scheduled Forum Topic laugh

Here's where I stand on NG Dress Whites. This one will be for the V3 Daz Tunic. I'm also going to do a set for V4 Courageous and M4 Valiant because I need them for each one.

It looks good so far, all you need is a bumpmap to make the trim stand out and you have a winner

  • mdbruffymdbruffy Posts: 2,345

The trim and the stitching down the front. That's the next step. I'm hoping once I get this version down, the other 2 will be easier.

Update 3: Slight problem with the bump map. I had to take it all the way down to 0.025 to get this look. If I dial it back up any higher, everything looks deeper.

I really did like those uniforms. My favorite of the TNG dress uniforms. Those are coming along great.

Thank you. I just have 3 other versions to go.I'm adding M3 to the list, too.

Here's where I am with the V4 Dress Whites. I just have to put the stripe down the sides of the pants. Then I can move on to M3 and M4.
